Women in Toys Hosts Cocktails and Conversation with Naz Amarachi

SYBO_NazAmarachiCuevos_HeadShotWomen in Toys (WIT) and Bentonville Film Festival (BFF) will host Naz Amarachi for Cocktails and Conversation on May 2 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Amarachi is the head of licensing at SYBO Games.

Amarachi was originally a refugee from Africa, and worked her way through Harvard Business School’s General Management program. She helped take Angry Birds from a mobile game into a global entertainment franchise.

Entertainment One’s Joan Grosso will also lead a conversation on “How She Did it.” The events will take place at the Romo d’Olivia in Bentonville, Arkansas.

WIT Announces 2018 Wonder Women Awards Gala Honorees

WIT will induct Lifetime Achievement Honoree, Norma Rosenhain, Creata CEO and the Elise Lachowyn Mentorship Award will be given to Nancy Zwiers, executive vice president (EVP) and global chief marketing officer (CMO) for Spin Master.

Geena Davis, Jill Barad to be Honored at the 13th Annual Wonder Women Awards Gala

wit-logo-copyWomen in Toys, Licensing & Entertainment will honor actor and advocate Geena Davis with the Changemaker Award and Jill Barad with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2017 WIT Wonder Woman Awards Gala in February.

This year’s theme, WIT Changemakers: Playing it Forward, recognizes and honors female executives who create positive change and pave the way for future leaders. Geena Davis is the co-founder and chair of the Bentonville Film Festival, as well as the founder of the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media. Jill Barad is the former Chariman and CEO of Mattel.

WIT Opens Nominations for 13th Annual Women in Toys Awards

WIT Set to Host Evening with Entrepreneurs’ Success Stories

The Women in Toys NYC Chapter will host an evening of entrepreneurs’ success stories on Tuesday, April 21, from 5:30–8:oo p.m. The event will be held in the Toy Industry Association (TIA) Offices at 1115 Broadway, Suite 400, in New York City.

The event will feature guest speakers. Patricia Cardello, owner of N&J Publishing and author of children’s book The Magical Tale of Santa Dust—A Christmas Tradition, is a mother of two who used her talent and passion to create a success on retail shelves. Lori Barzvi, inventor of the beauty product My Solemate, is featured on amazon.com. She will share her inspirational story following 9/11 and how she found the resilience to push forward and start a successful business. Entrepreneurs Ashley Mady, president of Women In Toys, and Genna Rosenberg will be in attendance.

Women In Toys Appoints New President, Board Members

Women in Toys (WIT), a global organization for professional women in the toy, licensing, and entertainment industries, has appointed Ashley Mady, president of Brandberry Inc., as its new board president.

Women in Toys provides its members with a collaborative, empowering environment through shared resources, industry connections, and extensive networking opportunities to foster professional growth and career enrichment. The organization recognizes and promotes the achievements of outstanding female leaders at all levels and capacities within the industry.

Other new appointments include Stephanie Barone, vice president of product development for Innovative Designs, as treasurer; Caitlin Gutekunst, senior manager, content acquisition and business development at LeapFrog, as regional chapter chair; Jennifer Quattrock, independent design contractor, as design chair; and Mali Baum, CEO of Beezeebee, as chair of international chapters.

Women In Toys Extends Application Deadline for Walmart Pitch Event

The application deadline for Women in Toys (WIT) and Walmart’s Women’s Global Economic Empowerment Initiative, has been extended to January 30. About 40 women-owned businesses have already signed up to participate in the Walmart Pitch event on February 11 during New York Toy Fair, which allows WIT members to pitch their products to Walmart.

A discussion panel covering the “Top 5 Tips for Selling to Walmart, by Two Women Who Have Done It,” will be held February 11 from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. Presenters include Carol Fenster of Baby Abuelita, and Amy Pennington, the president and founder of Paradise Kids. The discussion will be moderated by Patti Becker of Becker Associates LLC, and Reisa Schwartzman of Griddly Games.

Those interested in being part of the Walmart Pitch should complete an application form from the WIT website (www.womenintoys.com) and submit it to Patti Becker at pbecker@beckerassoc.com with “Walmart Pitch” in the subject line.

Candidates will be notified if they are selected.
