Bloomsbury, Technicolor Launch Global Publishing Program for The Deep

TheDeepBloomsbury entered a publishing partnership with Technicolor to create a series of books based on the animated TV series The Deep. The deal was brokered by licensing agent CPLG.

Bloomsbury will produce a range of books for The Deep, including young fiction, official handbooks, and activity-based books. The publishing program will contain new storylines not seen on TV series. Initial offerings will launch in August. Read the rest of this entry »

Technicolor, SimEx-Iwerks Entertainment to Co-Produce The Deep 4-D Theatrical Experience

TheDeep_Season2Technicolor signed an agreement with SimEx-Iwerks Entertainment to create a 4-D theatrical experience based on the underwater adventure series The Deep. The Deep: Mystery of the Ancient Amulet will premiere at venues globally beginning next spring.

The new 4-D theatrical event will provide a 12-minute, 3-D experience with exclusive 3-D CG animation, an original story line, and  special effect. Additionally, viewers will also experience a  4-D experience with vibrating seats, water spraying, bubbles, and more.  The in-theater experience will be available at zoos, theme parks, aquariums, and other venues worldwide. Technicolor, Merlin Entertainments Group Partner to Create Aquarium Experience for The Deep

The Deep_SEALife_EventTechnicolor signed a cross-promotional agreement with Merlin Entertainments Group to create an interactive entertainment experience for the animated underwater adventure series The Deep more than 20 aquariums in the UK and Germany. The events support the launch of the series’ second season, alongside a new mobile game from DHX Interactive.

Technicolor is the rights holder to The Deep, a co-production between Australia-based A Stark Production and Canada-based DHX Media, and has oversight for the brand overall.  Read the rest of this entry »

Technicolor, DHX Media Sign BBC UK to Broadcast The Deep

Technicolor and DHX Media Ltd. have finalized an agreement with the UK’s BBC to air The Deep on CBBC this March.

CBBC joins The Seven Network and ABC3 in Australia, Super RTL in Germany, Ketnet in Belgium, NRK in Norway, SVT in Sweden, YLE in Finland, and Family CHRGD in Canada as a broadcasting partner.

Technicolor Options Rights To The Deep

Technicolor (Euronext Paris: TCH) has optioned the rights for the international hit graphic novel series, The Deep, published by Gestalt Comics.
The Deep: Here Be Dragons graphic novel won the Aurealis Award for “Best Illustrated Book / Graphic Novel” of 2011 and was nominated for “Best Children’s Fiction (illustrated).” Technicolor Digital Productions aims to develop and produce 26 half-hour episodes of The Deep. The CGI-animated series targets kids ages 8 to 12 and their families. Each self-contained episode of The Deep brings the family a step closer to unraveling the mysteries of the deep sea.
