LIMA Appoints New Members to Board of Directors

LIMALast week, the Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association (LIMA) announced the new members of its board of directors. Cindy Levitt, senior vice president of licensing at Hot Topic, BoxLunch, and Her Universe, was elected chairman of the board. Levitt succeeds Ciarán Coyle of Electrolux Global Marketing, who completed a two-year term. Jay Asher, partner at Brandgenuity, was elected as vice chairman, and JJ Ahearn, managing director of Licensing Street LLC, was voted board designate to the executive committee, both for one-year terms.

Additionally, the LIMA membership elected six new members to begin terms on the LIMA board, effective July 1. New members Liza Abrams of Sakar International; Naz Amarchi-Cuevas of SYBO Games; Sam Ferguson of Jazwares; Bill Patterson of OpSec Security Inc.; Jason Sutton of Polaroid; and Takanori Ueno of Laura Ashely Japan Co. Striker Entertainment Appoints Nimbus Nine to Expand Licensing Initiatives

StrikerEnt_Logo_Nimbus Nine will act as Striker Entertainment’s on-the-ground presence in the UK and Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) to help expand the roll-out of key licensing initiatives, including Fingerlings from WowWee. Nimbus Nine was founded in April by Tina-Louise Foster, formerly the senior director of international licensing EMEA at MGA.

The news also follows the recent announcement that Nimbus Nine partnered with Vickie O’Malley at Rockpool Licensing to manage the Super Wings and Jim Henson properties.

WowWee, Penguin Random House Partner for Fingerlings Book Collection

WowWee.Fingerlings3WowWee partnered with two children’s divisions of Penguin Random House for a global publishing program for Fingerlings. Penguin Young Readers and DK will create a library of narrative and non-fiction titles based on the children’s toy property.

The publishing series will be a mixture of formats, including handbooks and guides, activity books, sticker books, journals, picture books, and Mad Libs. The first three titles will debut this August, followed by an original story picture book.

The deal was brokered by Striker Entertainment, the worldwide licensing agency for Fingerlings.

WowWee to Launch Fingerlings Consumer Products Program

WowWee Retains Striker Entertainment as Worldwide Licensing Agency for Fingerlings

WowWee.Fingerlings3WowWee retained Striker Entertainment to serve as the worldwide licensing agency for the Fingerlings toy line. The toys cling to kids’ fingers and react to sound, motion, and touch with more than 40 animations.

Striker will work with WowWee to develop a worldwide licensing strategy to expand the growing consumer interest and retail demand for additional consumer products categories.

NECA, LAIKA to Partner to Produce Multi-Category Range of Merchandise

NECALogoThe National Entertainment Collectibles Association (NECA) signed a deal to produce a multi-category lineup of merchandise with animation studio LAIKA. NECA debuted an exclusive Coraline in a Deluxe Display Box at San Diego Comic-Con. The deal was brokered by licensing agency Striker Entertainment, which represents the rights to the LAIKA library of legacy and future films.

The deal with NECA coincides with LAIKA’s pop-up exhibit The LAIKA Experience, which was open in San Diego through July 23rd. The exhibit featured props, puppets, monsters, and sets from LAIKA’s award-winning films as well as fan art, photo ops with LAIKA’s costumed characters, daily drawings for a pair of Nike’s LAIKA-themed shoes designed by Tinker Hatfield, social media activations, giveaways, and more. The game tells the tale of a bunch of moderately terrible people trying to escape from a lifetime of cheerful denial. LAIKA Appoints Striker Entertainment to Launch Worldwide Licensing Program

Laika_StrikerAnimation studio LAIKA appointed Striker Entertainment LLC to serve as its worldwide licensing agent. Striker Entertainment will work with LAIKA to develop a global licensing program with a roster of licensees.

Founded in Portland, Ore. in 2005, LAIKA’s mission is to blend art, craft, science, and technology to tell new stories. To date, the studio has had four Oscar-nominated features including Kubo and the Two Strings (2016), The Boxtrolls (2014), ParaNorman (2012) and Coraline (2009).
