Jakks Pacific, Stanley Black & Decker Extend Partnership

jakksJakks Pacific Inc. extended and expanded its licensing agreement with Stanley Black & Decker Inc., for the Black & Decker and Stanley brands.

Jakks will continue to exclusively manufacture, market, and distribute Black & Decker branded kids role-play tool toys to all retail channels. A new program will also be introduced, featuring Stanley-branded kids products, including toy hand and power tools and toy workbenches. All products will be available at Walmart in the US and Canada this holiday season.

Beanstalk Appoints Allison Ames as CEO

Beanstalk has appointed Allison Ames as CEO of the company. Ames will however continue to retain her position as the president of the firm.

In her new role, Ames will oversee the growth of the agency and offer comprehensive expertise on strategic brand extensions for its clients around the world.

Ames began her career at Beanstalk in 1997 and has led licensing initiatives for brands such as HGTV, Stanley Black & Decker, Purina, Airheads, the U.S. Army, Mary-Kate and Ashley, Salma Hayek and Danskin, among other key clients. She also re-introduced the manufacturer representation division of the agency, leading projects for key clients such as ConAgra, among others.

Voting Begins for LIMA International Licensing Excellence Awards


The ballot for the International Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association’s (LIMA) 2014 International Licensing Excellence Awards competition is now set, featuring a record 118 nominees in 20 categories from across the licensing, retailing, promotion, and consumer products arenas. LIMA members may cast their votes online through Wednesday, May 14. The winners will be announced at the LIMA Opening Night Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, June 17, during Licensing Expo 2014 in Las Vegas.

This year’s nominating season was the biggest ever, with a total of 360 entries, a 36% increase from last year. Nominations came in from 16 countries, including first-time nominees from India and Korea.

The 2014 ballot introduces two new categories: Digital/New Media and Location-Based or Experiential Initiatives, and makes Celebrity licensing a classification of its own, separate from Film and Television.

The other categories in which awards will be presented are Character or Toy Brand; Art or Design; Sports or Sports-Themed Entertainment; Corporate Brand; Film, Television or Entertainment; Retailer of the Year; and Best Licensed Promotion.

In addition, an award for Overall Best Licensed Program, representing each of the major property classifications, will honor one of these nominees:
