Super7, Universal Monsters Launch New Collection at SDCC

Super7_UniversalMonstersSuper7 launched its latest partnership with Universal Monsters at Comic-Con International: San Diego (SDCC).

The company debuted the collaboration at its BOOdega Pop Up at the Super7 San Diego location. The products include versions of the Wave 1 Universal Monsters 3.75-inch ReAction Figures, houseware items, and exclusive, limited edition signed and numbered prints by artist Ed Repka.

Super7 also released a capsule collection of limited edition shoes with Saucony and apparel items.

Cartoon Network, Cryptozoic Entertainment Partner for Rick and Morty: The Pickle Rick Game

Cryptozoic Entertainment and Cartoon Network Enterprises partnered for a limited release of Rick and Morty: The Pickle Rick Game, which will debut at Comic-Con International: San Diego.

The initial release will be followed by a full retail release this September. Cryptozoic also plans to make a limited quantity of the game available for purchase on its eStore during the summer. The one to two player tabletop game is based on the “Pickle Rick” episode of Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty. It includes Pickle Rick and Jaguar miniatures and a custom, collectible Pickle Rick game case that measures approximately 12.75 inches tall and holds all of the game’s components.

 

NECA, LAIKA to Partner to Produce Multi-Category Range of Merchandise

NECALogoThe National Entertainment Collectibles Association (NECA) signed a deal to produce a multi-category lineup of merchandise with animation studio LAIKA. NECA debuted an exclusive Coraline in a Deluxe Display Box at San Diego Comic-Con. The deal was brokered by licensing agency Striker Entertainment, which represents the rights to the LAIKA library of legacy and future films.

The deal with NECA coincides with LAIKA’s pop-up exhibit The LAIKA Experience, which was open in San Diego through July 23rd. The exhibit featured props, puppets, monsters, and sets from LAIKA’s award-winning films as well as fan art, photo ops with LAIKA’s costumed characters, daily drawings for a pair of Nike’s LAIKA-themed shoes designed by Tinker Hatfield, social media activations, giveaways, and more. Doctor Who Travels Across Time and Space in Lego Dimensions

Interactive Entertainment has revealed that Doctor Who’s Peter Capaldi, who plays the 12th Doctor, Jenna Coleman, who plays Clara Oswald, and Michelle Gomez, who plays Missy, will voice their respective characters from the TV series in Lego Dimensions. The announcement was made at Comic-Con International: San Diego.

In a new trailer giving the first look at the Doctor Who gameplay, worlds collide as the TARDIS pop up in Gotham City and Hill Valley and the Doctor battles alongside Homer Simpson.

Doctor Who, which has never before been in a Lego videogame, will be playable in the Lego Dimensions Starter Pack with a complete Doctor Who level where the game’s heroes continue their quest while encountering Daleks, Cybermen, and other adversaries from the Whoniverse.

The Art of the Brick: DC Comics to Debut at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney

Unknown-1Lego Artist Nathan Sawaya in partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) and DC Comics has created the world’s largest collection of DC Comics-inspired Lego artwork, The Art of the Brick: DC Comics. The exhibition will be on display at the Sydney, Australia’s Powerhouse Museum, part of the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences (MAAS), in November—the first venue to host the exhibition’s worldwide tour. The announcement was made by WBCP at Comic-Con International: San Diego.

The contemporary art exhibition takes on the DC Comics’ 80-year history with large-scale sculptures of super heroes and super-villains made entirely out of Lego bricks. Fans at San Diego Comic-Con were given a behind-the-scenes glimpse at several sculptures to be showcased at Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum, including interpretations of Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman during the DC Comics Meets Lego Art panel.
