LIMA Appoints New Members to Board of Directors

LIMALast week, the Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association (LIMA) announced the new members of its board of directors. Cindy Levitt, senior vice president of licensing at Hot Topic, BoxLunch, and Her Universe, was elected chairman of the board. Levitt succeeds Ciarán Coyle of Electrolux Global Marketing, who completed a two-year term. Jay Asher, partner at Brandgenuity, was elected as vice chairman, and JJ Ahearn, managing director of Licensing Street LLC, was voted board designate to the executive committee, both for one-year terms.

Additionally, the LIMA membership elected six new members to begin terms on the LIMA board, effective July 1. New members Liza Abrams of Sakar International; Naz Amarchi-Cuevas of SYBO Games; Sam Ferguson of Jazwares; Bill Patterson of OpSec Security Inc.; Jason Sutton of Polaroid; and Takanori Ueno of Laura Ashely Japan Co. Rocket Licensing to Expand Licensing Campaign for Hotel Transylvania

The franchise third film installment will premiere next summer, and the first season of Hotel Transylvania: The Series recently debuted on The Disney Channel.

Jazwares is the global master toy partner for the franchise. Rocket will target a range of categories including apparel, dress-up, footwear, publishing, and back-to-school stationery and bags. The assortment will be followed by the first book title from newly signed publishing partner Scholastic on October 15.

BBC Worldwide North America Adds New Hey Duggee Partners

BBC Worldwide North America added Children’s Apparel Network and Jay Franco to the Hey Duggee portfolio. BBC Worldwide North America’s deal with Children’s Apparel Network includes girls’ and boys’ apparel, swimwear, layettes, and outerwear, and the deal with Jay Franco includes bedding, bath goods, beach products, and storage products.

Hey Duggee currently airs on Nick Jr. in the U.S. and on Treehouse and BBC Kids in Canada. New episodes of the preschool series premiered this week on Nick Jr. Episodes from season one will continue to air regularly weekdays and on Saturdays.

Roblox, Jazwares Partner for New Toy Line

roblox_LogoRoblox announced the closing of a $92 million investment, which will be put toward enhancing the platform’s infrastructure and recruiting talent. The new funding follows the company’s rebranding and an online to offline expansion with a first-ever user-generated toy line from Jazwares.

The Roblox and Jazwares toy line will feature popular user-generated characters. The line is available at Toys “R” Us, additional retailers, and online at www.roblox.com and www.jazwares.com. The deal marks the beginning of an offline strategy that will bring Roblox to retail.
