Mattel, Fullscreen Launch Kids’ Entertainment Brand, Create Hot Wheels Digital Content Innovation Team

MattelMattel Inc. partnered with Fullscreen to launch Fullscreen Family—a brand-safe video network—and the Hot Wheels digital content innovation team. Through the partnership, the team will focus on creating content to engage a new generation of online consumers across video and social platforms. Additionally, Mattel will develop stronger relationships with online influencers in the kids and family space.

Fullscreen Family is a jointly-created video network that will feature a family-focused collection of brand-safe channels for third-party advertisers. TCG Extends Collection with New Licensees for Puzzles, Games, Accessories

TCG_HometownCollectionTCG (formerly known as The Canadian Group) will grow its product offerings to include a wide range of puzzles, games, and play accessories featuring licenses for kids and families.

The company acquired the Hometown trademark, featuring the work of folk artist Harry Wysocki, also known as Heronim. In addition, TCG expands into home décor for the first time with its new Tidy Town line of storage and play units inspired by kids’ properties. Marvel Launches Daredevil, The Punisher, Jessica Jones, and Deadpool Merchandise for Adult Fans

Marvel began rolling out its merchandising and retail plans for popular anti-heroes and vigilantes Daredevil, The Punisher, Jessica Jones, and Deadpool.

Additional launches targeting teens and adults are planned for January, including apparel, collectibles, and action figures. Diamond Select, Funko, Sideshow, Kotobukiya, and NECA will launch collectibles, Hasbro will add Marvel Legends collector figures, and Hot Wheels will unveil collectible die-cast vehicles next fall.

Mad Engine, C-Life, Hybrid, Freeze, Fifth Sun, Silver Buffalo, and Bioworld will launch men’s and women’s apparel, accessories, footwear, bags, home goods, and drinkware. The merchandising programs will be rounded with collector plush, stationery, consumer electronics, novelties, and Marvel Comics editions that feature backstories of the superheroes.

Additionally, Hot Topic will launch an in-store and online Deadpool campaign in February. Walmart, JCPenney, Spencer’s, Party City, and Kohl’s will provide in-store and online support. Amazon will expand on its toy and apparel offerings and CafePress will launch Jessica Jones-inspired merchandise for men and women.

DCP Unveils Merchandising Program for Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War

MarvelCaptainAmericaCivilWarDisney Consumer Products has unveiled the merchandising program for Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, which will hit theaters next May. Licensees across categories, including apparel, accessories, footwear, toys, sporting goods, consumer electronics, seasonal products, costumes, party goods, stationery, food, home furnishings, and collectibles, will create products to coincide with the film’s release.

Hasbro, Lego, Funko, Hot Wheels, Mad Engine, C-Life, Jay Franco, Global Brand Group, Kelogg’s, Hallmark, and American Greetings have already signed on. The merchandise programs will continue to showcase the Avengers’ team dynamic, include top-tier retail support, and will target all demographics from kids to adults.

Painting Lulu Signs Licensing Agreement with Mattel

Painting Lulu has signed a multiyear licensing agreement with Mattel to bring the Barbie and Hot Wheels brands to the physical and digital worlds of Painting Lulu in time for the back-to-school and holiday seasons.

The licensed products are the first two licensed brands integrated to the Painting Lulu image-analysis technology. The new experience will feature the brands in a 32-page coloring book, digital stylus, and the free downloadable coloring app.

Painting Lulu is a paper-to-digital coloring set that allows kids to color in a Painting Lulu coloring book with regular crayons and then scan the page using an app on a smart device. Kids can enhance and correct their coloring with tools and colors available on the app.

Cartoon Network, Boomerang Broadcast Content Featuring Mattel Portfolio

April13.MattelCNMattel and Turner Broadcasting System have partnered for Turner’s Cartoon Network and Boomerang channels to air Mattel content, including Barbie, Hot Wheels, Monster High, and Max Steel in Latin America beginning last month. The programming is available in movies, features, and webisodes. The content is broadcast in Latin America in Spanish and Portuguese in Brazil.

The new programming is as follows: Barbie, with three new CG-animated, 75-minute movies—Barbie in Princess Power, Barbie in Rock ‘N Royals, and Barbie and her Sisters in The Great Puppy Adventure; Monster High, with two CG-animated movies, Monster High: Haunted and Boo York, Boo York; Hot Wheels, with two new CG-animated specials, Team Hot Wheels: Skill to Thrill and Team Hot Wheels: Build the Epic Race; and Max Steel, with three 44-minute CG-animated movies, The Wrath of Makino, The Dawn of Morphos, and Maximum Morphos.

Marvel Rolls Out Extensive Toy, Kids Product Program for Avengers: Age of Ultron, Spider-Man, and More

On Wednesday, Disney Consumer Products (DCP) revealed its 2015 plans for Marvel and its key franchises, including The Avengers and Spider-Man. This year will see the roll-out of one of DCP’s biggest licensing programs to date, which would revolve around Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, the launch of new animated content, and innovative marketing initiatives.

For Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, Marvel is working closely with licensees—such as HasbroLegoHot WheelsFunko, and more—to develop products that expand the storytelling of the franchise. Through this year and beyond, Marvel’s campaigns will focus on new animation onDisney XD, as well as a new microsite, where kids can regularly interact with the characters and experience new content. Hallmark, Mattel Sign Licensing Agreement

Jan7.MattelHallmarkHallmark and Mattel have signed a licensing agreement to bring the Barbie brand license back to Hallmark this year. In the contract, Hallmark has the rights to create Barbie holiday ornaments and plush products in the U.S. and Canada. The products will have a broad distribution through multiple retail channels, with exlusive items in the nationwide network of Hallmark Gold Crown stores.

The first new Barbie products will appear in stores for Keepsake Ornament Premiere in July. Although products are still in development, some planned products include eight Barbie keepsake ornaments, the Barbie doll as an itty bittys pint sized plush, and other Hallmark-branded ornaments available during the holiday season.

In addition, the new licensing agreement includes rights for Hallmark to create products with the Mattel properties Monster High, Ever After High, and Hot Wheels.

Disney Expands Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Merchandise Ahead of the Holiday Season

The new toy and collectible lineup includes KIDdesigns‘ Dancing Groot toy. Other key products include Funko‘s POP! Marvel: Dancing Groot Bobble-head, Funko’s Fabrikations Guardians of the Galaxy–Rocket Raccoon collectible, Hot Wheels‘ Star-Lord and Rocket Raccoon Character Cars, Just Play’s Rocket Raccoon Plush, and Dragon Models’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Star-Lord Model Kit.

LIMA’s Young Professional Networking Breakfast to Feature Mattel’s Jessi Dune

The International Licensing Industry Merchandiser’s Association (LIMA) will feature Mattel general manager and senior vice president, consumer products Jessi Dunne at its next Young Professional Networking Breakfast on November 18, from 8 to 10 a.m. The special event will take place at Mattel’s headquarters in El Segindo, Calif.

Dunne will share her professional experiences and licensing insight, as well as provide career advice for those who are beginning their careers in the business. Dunne oversees global licensing for Mattel’s portfolio of best-selling brands like Barbie, Hot Wheels, Monster High, American Girl, Thomas & Friends, and Fisher-Price.
