Simon’s Cat Tops One Million Subscribers on YouTube

Simon’s Cat has reached one million subscribers on its 23-video YouTube channel. The online popularity of Simon’s Cat has led to a raft of consumer products being launched globally. In 2010, United Agents appointed Zodiak Rights to build the UK licensing program for Simon’s Cat, and the business continues to expand this year.

A wide range of Simon’s Cat products are already on the market. From books, plush toys, gifting and novelty items to accessories, calendars, diaries, and celebration cakes, newly signed partners continue to extend the range of Simon’s Cat products available.  Licensees set to launch from A/W ’12 include Sharples ‘N’ Grant (pet accessories and products), Offshore International (digital and mobile hard cases and skinz), and Bravado (mens and women’s t-shirts), with further apparel lines and online personalized greeting cards set to launch early next year.

Kohl’s Department Stores, FremantleMedia Enterprises, 19 Entertainment (a division of CKX, Inc.), LF USA (a subsidiary of Li & Fung Limited), and Bravado have partnered to launch an exclusive American Idol apparel collection. The newly created American Idol fashion brand, named Authentic Icon (AI), will be available exclusively at Kohl’s and Kohls.com beginning in April.

Prominently positioned in the junior’s and young men’s departments, the AI spring collection will be available in Kohl’s stores through June to coincide with American Idol’s 11th season.

LF USA’s MESH division will design and produce the AI collection. Kohl’s will be the exclusive retailer, and will support the brand with marketing such as national advertising, in-store graphics, online and digital media, direct mail, and public relations.

American Idol is produced by 19 Entertainment, a division of CKX, Inc., and FremantleMedia North America, Inc.

MESH, which was formed in July, is negotiating with Universal Music Group, which owns Bravado, to do worldwide deals for a host of musical stars. The arrangement would involve developing full apparel lines for Bravado’s entertainment clients.

The first deal signed by MESH was the new Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony lifestyle fashion venture with Kohl’s Department Store, which was unveiled in November.
