WNBA Minnesota Lynx Rank No. 1 for Team Merchandise Sales

Walt Disney World Resort Signed as Orlando Magic Jersey Patch Partner

Since becoming a Champion of the Community sponsor with the Orlando Magic in 2010, Disney has worked with the team on outreach initiatives that benefit the local community. NBA, Take-Two to Launch NBA 2K eLeague

NBA2KeLeagueThe National Basketball Association (NBA) and Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. (TTWO) partnered to launch NBA 2K eLeague, a competitive gaming league. This marks the first official eSports league operated by a professional sports league in the U.S.

The league will debut next year and will consist of teams operated by actual NBA franchises. The founding teams, each composed of five professional eSports players who will play the game as user-created avatars, will be announced in upcoming months. The NBA 2K eLeague will follow a professional sports league format: competing head-to-head throughout a regular season, participating in a bracketed playoff system, and concluding with a championship matchup.

USA Basketball Enters New Marketing Partnerships

USA Basketball has signed deals to enter new marketing partnerships with Samsung, Hospital for Special Surgery, and Diageo. Each will promote its brand and products throughout the USA Basketball Men’s and Women’s National Team training camp, exhibition games, media, and during several special events taking place this summer in Las Vegas, Chicago, and New York.

Several additional partners, including Jeep, Nike, Las Vegas, Wynn Las Vegas, and BBVA will host activities throughout the summer with USA Basketball as the Men’s National Team prepares for the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain from Aug. 30-Sept. 14.

The New York Liberty and Majesco Team Up for Interactive Basketball Game

WNBA’s New York Liberty has partnered with Majesco Entertainment for an interactive basketball experience, the game NBA Baller Beats, on Kinect for Xbox 360. NBA Baller Beats is a motion-based video game that uses a real ball to help basketball fans master a series of ball-handling skills, and includes a soundtrack featuring various styles of music.

Liberty is inviting fans to experience NBA Baller Beats at an Interactive Fan Zone now through September 9, at the Prudential Center. The game will be released to the public on September 11.

Majesco Entertainment will work with the team to promote health, wellness, and an active lifestyle through a number of activities planned specifically for children throughout the 2012 WNBA season. The Interactive Fan Zones are the first of a series of the events.
