Snap, DC Entertainment Bring Mad Magazine to Snapchat

Snap_DCEntertainment_MAD__Snap Inc. and DC Entertainment entered a content collaboration that will bring the Mad Magazine humor to Snapchat seven days a week. The partnership will launch on Sept. 1.

This collaboration will reimagine Mad’s satirical content of contemporary politics and other topical issues, along with classic and nostalgic material. John Ficarra, the former Mad senior vice president and executive editor who serves as a creative advisor for DC Entertainment, and Peter Girardi, executive vice president of Blue Ribbon Content, the digital content studio of the Warner Bros. Television Group, will oversee the project. Ficarra and Girardi are longtime creative partners, most notably teaming up for the Mad animated series for Cartoon Network from 2010 to 2013.

Their content will include an different features, including GIFs, memes, slide shows, interactive lists, and dynamic cinemagraphs. Mad writers and illustrators will curate some concepts, and other concepts will be built around breaking news and timely issues.

Snap’s content team worked closely with the Blue Ribbon team to ensure that the Mad content is optimized for Snapchat’s vertical, fast-paced format, and presented in a relevant way to Snapchat users.
