Party City to Launch Toy City Pop-Up Stores

PartyCity_storeParty City Holdco Inc. will expand its temporary store offerings through the expected piloting of approximately 50 new Toy City pop-up stores. The temporary Toy City sites will launch alongside Halloween City pop-up stores in a variety of locations nationwide. The sites were selected based on optimal location and leasing opportunities.

By co-locating the Toy City pop-ups alongside Halloween City locations, the company will create a concurrent seasonal and toy destination, with an integrated shopping and checkout experience. The Toy City pop-up stores will open in September in conjunction with the Party City’s Halloween City openings, and operate through the holiday season.

Party City will also test an expansion of its online assortment of toy offerings, providing a broader range of toy products to choose from.

This news follows the December 2017 appointment of Jamie Uitdenhowen, previously vice president and general manager of Toys “R” Us Business, as chief merchandising officer at Party City.

Disguise Launches Minecraft Costume Line

Disguise_MinecraftDisguise Inc.—the Halloween costume division of JAKKS Pacific Inc.— launched the first Minecraft costumes and accessories collection. The line is available now at retailers nationwide. The costumes and accessories are based on characters from Minecraft, the sandbox video game where players mine and craft 3-D blocks in a world of varied biomes and terrain.

The costumes feature characters such as Steve, Alex, and Creeper. Full sets of diamond Minecraft Armor are also available. The pants and tunic are inspired by the game’s 3-D blocky aesthetic, with range of motion designed for trick-or-treating. The long-sleeve tunic features detailed character artwork on the front and print coverage on the back. The half-masks include a mesh eye-plate and a foam insert designed for comfort and range of vision.

Accessories are also available, including the Minecraft Sword and Minecraft Pickaxe. The line is available in child sizes 4 to 6, 7 to 8, and 10 to 12 at retailers nationwide.

Jakks Pacific Extends Licensing Agreement for Power Rangers

Jakks_PowerRangersJakks Pacific Inc. extended its licensing agreement with Saban Brands LLC for Power Rangers, which includes the TV series Power Rangers Ninja Steel and the live action films, including this year’s feature film, Saban’s Power Rangers.

The multi-year agreement includes rights to exclusively manufacture, market, and distribute adult and kids Halloween costumes, accessories, and everyday dress up in the U.S., Canada, and Latin America. The partnership also includes seasonal items such as ride-ons, ball pits, indoor furniture, and other seasonal categories in the U.S. and Canada.
