eOne Adds New Partners for the Peppa Pig Brand

PeppaPig_Carton_092217Entertainment One (eOne)’s Peppa Pig currently has more than 1,000 licensees worldwide, and more than 80 licensees in the U.S. alone. The brand will continue its growth in the U.S. with a range of new licensing partners.

New licensees to launch products this year include Colgate-Palmolive for battery-operated and manual toothbrushes and toothpaste; Ginsey Home Solutions for made in the U.S. potty training products; Give & Go for house-building and cookie-decorating kits; good2grow for juice beverages in containers with character toppers; Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc. for Band-Aid brand adhesive bandages.

A new season of Peppa Pig is currently in production, with 117 new episodes on the way, for a total of 381 episodes and new content through the winter of 2022.

The Jim Henson Co., Alchemy II Partner for New Teddy Ruxpin Series

TeddyRuxpin_LogoAlchemy II Inc., owner of the Teddy Ruxpin brand, partnered with The Jim Henson Co. to develop an animated fantasy adventure series featuring Teddy Ruxpin.

The new series will feature toys from master toy partner Wicked Cool Toys, winner of the recent TOTY award for the 2017 Teddy Ruxpin relaunch. Show show will feature Russell Hicks as producer, who was also the original head illustrator for Alchemy II during Teddy Ruxpin’s initial launch. Guru Studios Launches Licensing Program for True and the Rainbow Kingdom

TrueAndTheRainbowKingdomGuru Studio will debut a merchandising program for its new preschool series True and the Rainbow Kingdom, which airs on Netflix in the U.S. and CBC in Canada.

In addition to the previously announced master toy agreement with Toy State, the new licensing agreements include Palamon for costumes; American Marketing Enterprises for sleepwear; GBG Socks for hosiery; Chouette as master publishing partner; and Bendon Inc. for coloring books and art sets. American Girl Live Announces Tour Dates

WebInspired by the American Girl characters and storylines, American Girl Live will debut in the U.S. this December.  The stage production is a musical featuring original songs and experiences.

WowWee, Penguin Random House Partner for Fingerlings Book Collection

WowWee.Fingerlings3WowWee partnered with two children’s divisions of Penguin Random House for a global publishing program for Fingerlings. Penguin Young Readers and DK will create a library of narrative and non-fiction titles based on the children’s toy property.

The publishing series will be a mixture of formats, including handbooks and guides, activity books, sticker books, journals, picture books, and Mad Libs. The first three titles will debut this August, followed by an original story picture book.

The deal was brokered by Striker Entertainment, the worldwide licensing agency for Fingerlings.

Sony Acquires Stake in DHX Media’s Peanuts

peanutsDHX Media and Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc. (SMEJ) agreed that SMEJ will indirectly purchase 49 percent of DHX Media’s 80 percent interest in Peanuts for $185 million in cash, subject to customary working capital adjustments. Pro forma for the transaction, DHX Media will own 41 percent of Peanuts, SMEJ will own 39 percent, and the members of the family of Charles M. Schulz will continue to own 20 percent.

DHX Media and SMEJ have also agreed to extend the duration of the current Licensing and Syndication Agency agreement with SMEJ’s consumer products division, Sony Creative Products Inc. in Japan.

 

Genius Brands Expands Licensing Partners for Rainbow Rangers Retail Launch Next Year

RainbowRangersGenius Brands International Inc. continues to grow its range of licensing partners in support of next year’s Rainbow Rangers retail launch based on its new original preschool series by the same name. The CGI-animated series is currently in production on season one, and will premiere in fall 2018 on Nickelodeon’s Nick Jr.

MiraculousLadybugBulldog Licensing signed three new licensing agreements for Zag Heroez Miraculous-Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir. The show airs in more than 120 countries, and a live-action feature film will be debut in 2020.

New partners include Smith and Brooks for T-shirts, leggings, dresses, and swimwear; William Lamb for bags and purses; and Rainbow for costume characters. These deals follow recent agreements with H&A for health and beauty products and Sambro for arts and crafts.

The line includes products for football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, and baseball, and features designs inspired by key theatrical releases within Disney Animation, Pixar, Marvel, and Lucasfilm portfolios.

The first product collection showcases gear inspired by Solo: A Star Wars Story and is now available for pre-sale on wilson.com/en-us.  A second collection featuring Incredibles 2 will be available on June 15.
