Saban Brands Reunites Paul Frank Brand With Founder

Saban Brands appointed artist and designer Paul Frank as director of creative development for the company. Frank is the original founder of Paul Frank Industries (PFI), the creator of Julius the Monkey, and the additional cast of Paul Frank characters.

In his new role, Frank will serve as a key player for PFI, bring authenticity back to the brand, work on new character development, and additional properties.

GBI to Launch Music and Fashion-Driven Tween Girls Brand Spacepop this Summer

Genius Brands International Inc. (GBI) will produce Spacepop, a new music and fashion-driven brand for tween girls, which features music by Ron Fair, character and fashion design by Han Lee, and stories by Steve Banks.

Currently, Spacepop features 100+ animated shorts. The chairman & CEO of GBI Andy Heyward, responsible for producing more than 5,000 episodes of TV series like Inspector Gadget, Strawberry Shortcake, Super Mario Bros, and Sabrina the Teenage Witch is spearheading the production process.

GBI has appointed Spacepop’s first licensing partner Imprint as the global master publisher. Imprint will launch the brand’s book series, starting with Not Your Average Princesses written by Erin Downing and illustrated by Jen Bartel in July.

Super Impulse Expands with World’s Smallest Line

Super Impulse will expand its product line in spring to include tiny versions of four Mattel toys, the Fisher-Price Chatter Telephone, the Fisher-Price Rock-A-Stack, the Magic 8 Ball, and the Fisher-Price Little People School Bus.

World’s Smallest toys are designed with the same working functions as the original classic toys, but in the smallest sizes ever created.

The Fisher-Price Chatter Telephone will feature a friendly face just like its original, with eyes that move up and down, a rotating dial, and rolling wheels that click as it moves.

The Fisher-Price Rock-A-Stack will have six colorful stacking rings and a wobbly base that rocks back and forth like the original, and the World’s Smallest Magic 8 will help kids with life’s toughest questions, just like its predecessor.

Piege Co. Inc. has signed a licensing deal with Dreamwave LLC for branded swimwear, including Felina, Jezbel, and Paramour, available at major retailers in 2017.

Felina brands will continue to expand into apparel and accessory product categories, including hosiery, socks, slippers, active wear, fragrance, and personal care.

Lawless Entertainment Signs New Deals for Suzy’s Zoo

Lawless Entertainment has signed a deal with MyLocker to develop a webstore for consumers to personalize apparel and consumer products with Suzy’s Zoo art.

Customers will have the ability to select Suzy’s Zoo art of their choice, then place it on a variety of more than 500 products for men, women, and children, including apparel, blankets, mugs, bags, and tablet and laptop sleeves.

Lawless Entertainment also signed a distribution deal with Toon Goggles on behalf of Suzy’s Zoo.

Toon Goggles will feature ten episodes of the Suzy’s Zoo: A Day with Witzy series on its top family entertainment on-demand platform, which showcases animated and live action content via its app for smartphones, tablets, and smart TVs. The episodes will premiere on Toon Goggles this December.

Hogwarts is Coming to Universal Studios on April 7

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will open at Universal Studios Hollywood on April 7, marking the highly anticipated arrival of the west coast’s dynamic immersive experience at the entertainment capital L.A.

Tommy Bahama Expands its Relaxed Lifestyle Brand to Waikiki

The Tommy Bahama Restaurant Bar and Store launched its eighth retail space in Hawaii at a beachfront in Waikiki on October 30.

The three-level, 19,200 square-foot flagship houses a ground floor retail space, a second story restaurant, and a rooftop lounge with a sand patio.

The building features Hawaiian design elements, a dramatic living wall overflowing with native tropical plants, and a smaller herb wall harvested by the chef. Three vintage custom-deigned surfboards from Tom Pohaku Stone, a legendary native Hawaiian surfer, are on display in the restaurant and the store.

Tommy Bahama offers coastal apparel, accessories, home décor, cookbooks, and specialty goods in line with the brand’s philosophy – make life one long weekend. The restaurant offers island-inspired dishes that use locally sourced ingredients to support Hawaiian farmers and vendors.
