2018 LIMA Awards Submissions to Close Next Month

LIMAThe International Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association (LIMA) International Licensing Awards recognizes and highlights the innovation and creativity that impacted the worldwide marketplace during the last year.

Online entry for the LIMA Awards is currently open to members and non-members, and there is no fee to participate. Only LIMA members may vote on the final ballot. All submissions must be received by Thursday, Feb. 1.

WIT Announces 2018 Wonder Women Awards Gala Honorees

wit-logo-copyWomen in Toys, Licensing and Entertainment (WIT) announced honorees for its annual Wonder Women Awards Gala, which celebrates industry leaders for their outstanding contributions in toys, licensing, and entertainment. WIT will induct Lifetime Achievement Honoree, Norma Rosenhain, Creata CEO and the Elise Lachowyn Mentorship Award will be given to Nancy Zwiers, executive vice president (EVP) and global chief marketing officer (CMO) for Spin Master.

LIMA Seeks Nominations for 2018 Licensing Hall of Fame

May27LIMA(2)The international Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association (LIMA) is accepting recommendations for the Licensing Hall of Fame. Each year LIMA honors creators, marketers, manufacturers, and anyone who makes outstanding contributions to the global licensing community. This award represents the highest level of licensing excellence, and individuals considered for the award must follow the criteria guidelines listed here.

To be considered for induction into the 2018 Hall of Fame, online recommendations–including a detailed and formal description of the candidate’s contribution and adherence to the criteria—must be received by November 10.

The LIMA Board of Directors reviews all recommendations before making final selections.

eOne’s Peppa Pig Takes Home Trio of Awards at Multimir Children’s Festival

PeppaPigEntertainment One (eOne)’s Peppa Pig won three awards at Multimir’s inaugural awards ceremony, which kicked off on May 31 and ran until June 4 in Moscow.

Peppa Pig was crowned Best Foreign Animated Series and Best Female Character in a Cartoon Series, which were both judged by a panel of leading figures in Russia’s children’s entertainment, and Best Female Character in a Cartoon Series, which was voted by audiences. Read the rest of this entry »

LIMA Expands with Three New Global Representatives, Announces LIMA International Licensing Awards Winners

May27LIMA(2)The International Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association (LIMA) recently appointed representatives in Brazil, France, and Russia, and named an industry veteran as the new head of LIMA India.

The representatives for the new LIMA offices include
Marici Ferreira, LIMA/ABRAL (Brazil); Laurent Taieb, LIMA France; Jiggy George, LIMA India; and Marina Semenikhina, LIMA Russia.

LIMA Announces Ballot for 2017 International Licensing Awards

May27LIMA(2)The International Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association (LIMA) finalized the ballot for its 2017 International Licensing Awards. One quarter of the nominees, 31 companies, originate from outside the U.S., attesting to the expanding international reach of the awards program.
This year’s ballot includes 126 nominees from ten countries. The nominees were selected from more than 460 submissions. The awards program spans categories including licensing, retailing, promotion, consumer products, and more. LIMA members may cast their votes online next month. Winners will be announced at the LIMA Awards Ceremony on May 23, during Licensing Expo in Las Vegas, which is sponsored by LIMA and owned and organized by UBM Americas.

Rovio Entertainment and Mikael Hed Honored with Hulda Award for The Angry Birds Movie

angry birdsRovio Entertainment and Mikael Hed, executive producer of The Angry Birds Movie, received the Finnish Audiovisual Export Award Hulda. The award is presented annually by Audiovisual Finland and honors excellence in creative industry export.

The Angry Birds Movie is the most internationally successful Finnish film of all time and is also the second highest-grossing movie based on a game. The award was presented by Finland’s minister of economic affairs Mika Lintilä at the annual Finnish film industry event Jussi Gaala, which took place last Friday.

Turner Wins Best Case Study for Lamput at FICCI Fames 2017
