PBS Kids, Moff Partner to Enter Kids’ Wearable Tech Space

PBS Kids has partnered with Moff to enter the kids’ wearable tech space with the launch of a free PBS Kids Party app.

Designed for kids ages 5 to 8, PBS Kids Party uses the latest advances in wearable tech to help kids learn through imaginative play and movement with interactive games that integrate dancing, counting, and more.

The app connects to a Moff Band via Bluetooth for an enhanced experience, enabling kids to play away from the device and be imaginative in how they connect to the app. The app is also playable without the Moff Band.

PBS Kids Party is now available for free on iOS and Android devices.

Marvel Launches Daredevil, The Punisher, Jessica Jones, and Deadpool Merchandise for Adult Fans

Marvel began rolling out its merchandising and retail plans for popular anti-heroes and vigilantes Daredevil, The Punisher, Jessica Jones, and Deadpool.

Additional launches targeting teens and adults are planned for January, including apparel, collectibles, and action figures. Diamond Select, Funko, Sideshow, Kotobukiya, and NECA will launch collectibles, Hasbro will add Marvel Legends collector figures, and Hot Wheels will unveil collectible die-cast vehicles next fall.

Mad Engine, C-Life, Hybrid, Freeze, Fifth Sun, Silver Buffalo, and Bioworld will launch men’s and women’s apparel, accessories, footwear, bags, home goods, and drinkware. The merchandising programs will be rounded with collector plush, stationery, consumer electronics, novelties, and Marvel Comics editions that feature backstories of the superheroes.

Additionally, Hot Topic will launch an in-store and online Deadpool campaign in February. Walmart, JCPenney, Spencer’s, Party City, and Kohl’s will provide in-store and online support. Amazon will expand on its toy and apparel offerings and CafePress will launch Jessica Jones-inspired merchandise for men and women.

CBS Consumer Products Announces Penny Dreadful Collectibles


Big Chief Studios Ltd. is entering a licensing deal with CBS Consumer Products to produce a range of high-end collectibles and gifts, based on Showtime series Penny Dreadful.

Initial product offerings will include highly detailed 1:6 scale collector figures of the main characters from the show, including Vanessa Ives (Eva Green), Ethan Chandler (Josh Hartnett), and Sir Malcolm Murray (Timothy Dalton).

The figures will feature hand-painted character portraits, finely tailored costuming, signature accessories, and display bases. The range will expand with Victor Frankenstein (Harry Treadaway), the Creature (Rory Kinnear), and Dorian Gray (Reeve Carney), among others.

Big Chief will begin to offer the initial figure releases directly to consumers via, and through select hobby and specialist retailers.

Peppa Pig Gains Momentum in Mexico


Entertainment One (eOne) has announced the strong broadcast and retail success of Peppa Pig in Mexico, demonstrating a stronghold for the preschool property in the territory.

Launched on Mexico’s Channel 5 in November 2013, the show has become a favorite with preschool audiences, reaching a rating of 2.4 points. Peppa Pig consistently achieves strong audience figures and is now one of the top three rated shows in the country.

The Peppa Pig licensing program has also seen positive results since its launch last year. Managed by Televisa Consumer Products, the consumer products program now boasts 50 licensees across 16 categories and strong retail sales.

In October Peppa Pig won the Best Preschool Brand of 2015 Award in the prestigious ProMarca Awards.

Laura Ashley has partnered with Upper Canada Soap to manufacture a collection of wellness products for the U.S. and Canada.

A premium line of wellness products featuring Laura Ashley’s signature designs are being developed with generations of customers in mind for next year. The collection will include hot water bottles, their covers, ice packs, gel packs, walking canes, and pill cases.

Cartoon Network Plans to Grow Australian Made Original Animation Next Year

Cartoon Network will include four Australian-made animation projects in its regional programming line-up next year.

Cartoon Network’s first full-length Australian-made series Exchange Student Zero, a pilot for Monster Beach: The Series, Sydney-produced short-form comedies Bill & Tony, and The Sketchy Show Out of Brisbane are all part of the list.

In addition to the TV, the content will also air on the recently launched app Cartoon Network Anything that promotes micro-short content and Cartoon Network Watch and Play digital platform.

The app, developed for kids ages 5 and up, features a self-contained play environment offering real experiments that can be performed at home, games that make science fun, an interactive inventor library to learn about the greatest inventors of all times, and a screening room presenting episodes from the TV series.

Sanrio to Open a Hello Kitty Café Pop-Up in Irvine Next Year

Sanrio has announced plans to open a Hello Kitty Café Pop-Up in California next year. The pop-up cafe is designed within a metal shipping container and will be located at the Irvine Spectrum Center. The temporary modular space will be placed in the Giant Wheel Court and will be open to the public in late November.

The café will serve up popular selections from the Hello Kitty Café Truck menu, which has been making stops around the western U.S. since its debut at Hello Kitty Con in October last year. The café will serve mini cakes, macarons, doughnuts and bow-shaped water, tea, artisanal sodas, and specialty coffee. Hello Kitty, My Melody, Keroppi, Little Twin Stars, Chococat, and other Sanrio characters will be infused in the sweet offerings.

The pop-up cafe will have a fast-casual setting with bold character graphics, inviting guests to pop in and out quickly for a snack. Sanrio plans to expand its food service venture in the U.S. late next year with the opening of a permanent Hello Kitty Café in Southern California.

Petco Launches Dr. Seuss Pet Fans Collection in Time for Holiday Season


Petco in partnership with Dr. Seuss Enterprises L.P. has launched the Dr. Seuss Pet Fans Collection, including The Grinch, The Cat in the Hat, Thing 1, and Thing 2, ranging in price from $5 to $10.

For pet parents who want to give their dogs a Dr. Seuss makeover, Petco’s grooming salons will offer a Dr. Seuss spa package beginning November 27, including custom shampoo, conditioner, a scented spritz, fashion pawlish, and a special Dr. Seuss accessory. Pet parents are encouraged to share their Seuss-inspired pet makeovers online using the hashtag #DrSeussPets.

The Dr. Seuss Pet Fans Collection is available online at, and at Petco and Unleashed by Petco stores. On Black Friday (November 27) customers who make one or more in-store purchases with their Pals Rewards card will receive a free Max Horn Headpiece for dogs or a Grinch Headpiece for cats.
