Arsenal Football Club, PUMA Confirm Extensive New Licensing Rights

Arsenal Football Club and PUMA have confirmed details of the extensive licensing rights that form part of the agreement that will see the sports brand become the new official kit partner of the Gunners, this season and next season.

The partnership between Arsenal and PUMA becomes effective on July 1.

PUMA has acquired licensing rights to develop, distribute, and market Arsenal-branded merchandise on a global basis through its affiliated companies Brandon, Cobra PUMA Golf, Wheat, and Dobotex. The PUMA Group companies will produce a range of merchandise, including apparel, sporting goods, back-to-school, gifts, and souvenirs for the Gunners. PUMA will also produce they playing and training kits for all Arsenal teams.

Titan Merchandise Expands Licensing with Captain Action Enterprises

Titan Merchandise and Captain Action Enterprises have launched Captain Action Cat merchandise, including T-shirts, mugs, ID holders, and more. These products will be on sale internationally in the third quarter of this year.

Captain Action Cat—currently appearing in a comic series from Dynamite Entertainment by the team of Art Baltazar, Franco, and Chris (Zod) Smits—is an anthropomorphic spin-off of the classic Captain Action character.

This version of the recently revived hero is designed for kids of all ages. Entitled The Timestream Cat-astrophe, the series spans the modern age, the silver age, the golden age, and the “aw yeah!” age. The story features Lady Action; creator-owned characters; and Dark Horse heroes X, Ghost, Sky-Man, The Occultist, and Captain Midnight.

The Captain Action action figure was created in 1966 by Stan Weston for Ideal Toys and sold internationally. The line has experienced a resurgence, complete with new toys, merchandise, books, and a comic series.

Current plans for the first wave will include a Captain Action Cat T-shirt, a coffee mug, and an ID holder.

Surf Sharks has secured VenDynamics for licensed school supplies, including educational collector cards and stickers that feature fun Shark factoids.

Surf Sharks is a hardcover book series for kids ages 6 to 12 that follows the comedy adventures of a group of young surfers and sharks who forge a friendship and ride the waves together as they help each other solve daily challenges growing kids face.

Lawless Entertainment has announce that Metrostar Media, the UK agent for Suzy’s Zoo, has signed Zapexa as a licensee to further the reach of the brand throughout Europe.

Zapexa will utilize the Little Suzy’s Zoo character set for digital emoticons for mobile messaging networks throughout the world, with the exception of Japan and Taiwan. Zapexa partners with rights holders to commercialize their brands on digital platforms.

Suzy’s Zoo will exhibit at the Licensing International Expo in June in Las Vegas.

The Simpsons, Johnny Cupcakes Collaborate for Apparel Collection

Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products (FCP) and Johnny Cupcakes, a faux bakery specializing in graphic T-shirts, will launch a new apparel and accessories collection featuring characters from The Simpsons. The focal point of the line is three specially packaged, oversized “cupcake mix” boxes, each based on a fan-favorite character from The Simpsons franchise. Each box contains three collectible products designed exclusively around the theme of the featured characters: Homer Simpson, Bart Simpson, and Krusty The Clown. These items will not be sold separately and are exclusive to the packages.

Additional clothing items featuring iconic characters from the show will also be represented with a Johnny Cupcakes twist and will be available in all Johnny Cupcakes retail shops and online on May 31.
