Big Tent Partners with Brainstorm for Domo Kites and Glass Sculptures


Big Tent Entertainment continues to build its Domo brand globally with a new long-term deal with Brainstorm to launch branded kites and glass figurines.

Under terms of the latest agreement, Domo will be integrated into Brainstorm’s XKites and WindNSun brand names for a line of kites, windsocks, and string holders that will bring Domo to active play.

Additionally, collectible, miniature glass sculptures of Domo will be sold under the Looking Glass and Glass World brands. The product lines will be available in the U.S. at stationery, department, grocery, specialty, and drug stores, along with TV shopping networks, and internet retailers, including Brainstorm’s retail websites.

Frank Sinatra Enterprises Announces Global Licensing Initiative for Reprise Catalog


Universal Music Group (UMG) has licensed global audio catalog rights to Frank Sinatra’s Reprise recordings from Frank Sinatra Enterprises (FSE). The multi-year agreement unites Sinatra’s classic Capitol albums from the 1950s with his signature Reprise albums from the 1960s for the first time, creating unprecedented opportunities for new releases. The deal further expands the existing relationship between FSE and UMG, which first licensed the international rights to the Reprise catalog in 2009.

The agreement enables the release of a broad range of Sinatra titles under a new Signature Sinatra imprint, which will be backed by marketing initiatives building toward the 100th anniversary of Sinatra’s birth in 2015. UMG will now represent Sinatra’s recordings on Reprise Records, a catalog that includes Strangers In The Night, That’s Life, Theme From New York, New York, It Was A Very Good Year, and My Way.

Rick Glankler to Join FremantleMedia Kid & Family Entertainment


FremantleMedia has confirmed the appointment of Rick Glankler to the role of EVP/General Manager of Kids & Family Entertainment.

Based in New York and reporting to FremantleMedia’s Chief Operating Officer, Sangeeta Desai, Glankler will take responsibility for all areas of FremantleMedia’s KFE business including production, consumer products, TV sales, and brand management. He will oversee all creative and commercial aspects of the business, with the overall responsibility of continuing to grow FremantleMedia’s portfolio of brands into successful global franchises.

Under the new structure, Bob Higgins, EVP Creative and Production, Carl Lumbard, Head of Global Licensing & Consumer Products, Joss Duffield VP Distribution & Sales, and Tessa Moore, VP Brand Management will continue to lead in their respective business areas, reporting directly into Glankler.


41 Entertainment Announces UK and Ireland Launch Strategy for Pac-Man


41 Entertainment and its UK licensing agent Lisle International announced its strategy for the launch of the Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures program in the UK.  The TV series includes seasons one and two.

The strategy is as follows:

  • Sky will launch on its stereoscopic 3-D channel.
  • Disney XD will launch on its 2-D platform in January.
  • Burger King will have premiums in more than 500 of its restaurants in January and February.
  • Bandai will initially launch its master toy line in January. 
  • Namco Bandai Games UK will launch the videogame for multi-platforms on March 7. 
  • Blues will launch apparel in first quarter. 
  • VMC Accessories will launch fashion accessories. 
  • KNex will launch construction toys in spring. 
  • The Official Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures magazine will launch throughout spring and summer from Titan, as well as an annual from Pedegree.
  • Novelty items from Underground Toys and dress-up from Palamon will also launch through spring and summer.
  • Giromax will launch trading cards and sticker albums from spring and summer.



BBC America and NCM Fathom Events Celebrate Doctor Who’s 50th Anniversary


BBC America announced two special theatrical screening events of Doctor Who’s 50th anniversary special, Doctor Who: The Day of the Doctor, in RealD 3-D on November 23 and 25.

In association with AMC Entertainment Inc., Cinemark Holdings Inc., and Regal Entertainment Group, BBC America makes history by honoring eleven doctors on November 23 with a global simulcast 3-D screening event in eleven cities at the same time the anniversary special premieres on BBC America and across the globe. BBC America and NCM Fathom Events are teaming up to continue the celebration, giving fans in the U.S. a chance to experience Doctor Who: The Day of the Doctor in RealD 3-D on November 25 for only one night in more than 300 select cinemas. DHX Media Selects Cupcake Digital to Develop Yo Gabba Gabba! App Series for Preschoolers


Cupcake Digital Inc. has been selected by DHX Media to develop a new series of kids’ apps featuring the characters from Yo Gabba Gabba!. Cupcake Digital will create deluxe activity apps designed for kids ages 5 and under.

Samsung and NBA Announce Game-Changing Partnership

Samsung and the National Basketball Association (NBA) have announced a comprehensive, multi-year marketing and technology partnership that will enhance the game and deepen the fan experience.

Samsung is the official handset, tablet, and television provider of the NBA, Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA), and NBA Development League (NBA D-League). Samsung will reach fans of all three leagues through a wide array of assets, including marquee league events, TV and digital exposure, and customized content available on Samsung devices. The collaboration represents Samsung’s most extensive partnership with a North American sports league and the NBA’s most extensive partnership with a consumer electronics company.

My Singing Monsters Signs Publishing Deal with Egmont UK


My Singing Monsters, created by Big Blue Bubble Inc., has signed publishing house Egmont UK as its new strategic licensing partner.

Egmont will extend My Singing Monsters into print and digital publishing. Products will include magazines, handbooks, sticker books, and sound books, as well as digital applications (such as e-books) available through Android Market and Apple’s App Store. The printed collections will be sold at news agents, book stores, supermarkets, and book clubs, as well as through direct marketing and online retail channels.

New Licensing Deals Abound for Slugterra Brand


Slugterra is the focus of new licensing deals across Italy, Latin America, Russia, Turkey, Israel, and South Africa.

In Italy, Nerd Corps and licensing agent Discovery Media are bringing the property’s slugs to trading cards and stickers following a deal with Gedis. The toy line, from Jakks Pacific, is set to launch next year through distributor Giochi Preziosi.

In Latin America, Nerd Corps’ agent Compañia Panamericana de Licencias has made a deal with Panini to bring trading cards and stickers to Brazil, along with stickers in several territories across Latin America.

In Russia, Nerd Corps’ agent Megalicense has brought Apps Ministry on board to develop and produce a new iOS game for worldwide distribution as well as localize Nerd Corps’ first iOS game, Slug it Out!for the Russian market.

In Turkey, Istanbul Lisans represents the brand, and deals have been signed for back-to-school merchandise with Hakan Canta and Keskincolor. Slugterra toys will roll out across the region this fall, through distributor Ottonya.

In Israel, regional agent Brand Is Real has secured a deal with Shoshi Zohar for Slugterra costumes and other dress-up products.

In South Africa, agent Character Licensing & Marketing has made a new deal with David Gresham Records to bring Slugterra to home video in time for this holiday season.

Slugterra toys have also already launched in the U.S. and the UK, and more will launch in nine new territories this fall, including Brazil, Chile, Greece, the Middle East, Peru, Poland, Russia, Turkey, and Venezuela. The toy line is set to launch in Canada, Croatia, Ecuador, and Mexico next year, with additional roll outs expected.
