Warner Bros. Consumer Products Offers Strong Style Line-Up at Magic 2013

Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) shows off its stylish side during Magic 2013 this month. Leveraging its roster of entertainment properties, including DC Comics, Batman Classic TV Series, The Big Bang Theory, Looney Tunes, Hanna-Barbera, and Tom and Jerry, WBCP is working with a powerhouse of licensees, including In Gear Fashions, Junk Food, Underboss, and Bioworld.

“Gearing up” with WBCP at Magic this year is In Gear Fashions, with juniors swimwear featuring DC Comics Super Heroes, and expanding on their current offerings with their first-ever line for girls. Longtime apparel partner Junk Food will introduce new high-end T-shirts and other items for kids and adults, inspired by the characters and artwork of the Batman classic TV series, as well as many other WBCP properties. Underboss will offer up DC Comics sleepwear, underwear, and daywear for women, and Bioworld will present a multi-category line of apparel and accessories featuring a variety of WBCP properties, including items based on The Hobbit Trilogy.

Also showcasing Warner Bros. properties at Magic are Kinetix, with high-end adult T-shirts inspired by DC Comics; Trunk, with high-end T-shirts featuring Looney Tunes and DC Comics; Isaac Morris, with Tom and Jerry, Scooby-Doo, DC Comics and more for kids apparel; Freeze, with kids and adult T-shirts featuring the beloved icons of Hanna-Barbera, Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry, and Scooby-Doo; and Kids Republic, with high-end kids apparel inspired by the pantheon of DC Comics Super Heroes.

Sing It, Laurie! Set to Debut on Sprout

Sing It, Laurie!, the new animated musical preschool series co-created by Laurie Berkner and Little Airplane Productions’ Josh Selig, is coming to 24-hour preschool television channel Sprout. The short-form series will debut exclusively on the network beginning March 25. Sing It, Laurie! is the first collaboration between Laurie and Little Airplane.

Partners on the series include Razor & Tie, the largest privately owned independent music label in North America, and Tsumanga Studios, a games developer and publisher based in Scotland.

Season Two of Fun Fun Elmo Debuts on SinoVision, Season One Launches Online

Season 2 of Fun Fun Elmo has debuted on SinoVision, the largest Chinese language television program broadcaster serving the Chinese community in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Long Island, and sections of Pennsylvania. Fun Fun Elmo introduces viewers to the Mandarin language through an immersive language experience of animation and live action films shot in China, and underscored by catchy music. Live-action segments follow local children in modern-day China as their authentic daily lives interweave with the curriculum. With 13 new episodes, Fun Fun Elmo especially encourages Mandarin language exposure, as each episode introduces a Chinese tone, word, and stroke order for writing characters.

In addition to the broadcast on SinoVision and, families can continue practicing their Mandarin with Elmo online, with the first season of Fun Fun Elmo available anytime on the Sesame Street YouTube channel.

Sprout Launches Online Consumer Retail Site

Preschool television channel Sprout has announced the launch of an online consumer retail site,, operated by CafePress Inc. CafePress offers entertainment and retail brands fully integrated ecommerce solutions by creating uniquely branded online retail environments. showcases designs featured in a range of Sprout-branded products, including tote bags, adults and kids’ sized t-shirts, water bottles, and iPad and iPhone accessories. Also available are products including apparel, plush, puzzles, and DVDs, based on Sprout’s most popular original series, including Noodle and Doodle, Pajanimals, and The Chica Show. The Chica Show launched on November 24, and can also be viewed on the NBC Kids’ Saturday morning kids block programmed by Sprout.

Marvel Licenses Novelty Collectibles Rights to Aquarius

Aquarius has entered into a licensing agreement with Marvel Entertainment, LLC.  Through the agreement, Aquarius will create and release into the market a range of collectible playing card sets featuring Marvel’s world renowned Super Heroes.

Aquarius’ product line will feature compelling designs utilizing a wealth of Marvel movie imagery, including this year’s Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World, as well as classic Marvel comic book art. The complete program will include playing cards with up to 52 unique images per deck, playing card sets in collector tins, coaster sets, and Funky Chunky magnets. The initial product release this month features eight unique playing card sets.

The Jim Henson Company Appoints Mindshapes to Develop Interactive Educational Entertainment for Pajanimals and Sid the Science Kid

The Jim Henson Company has announced a partnership with Mindshapes. Under the deal, Mindshapes will create “Appisodes” based on The Jim Henson Company’s preschool series “Sid the Science Kid” and “Pajanimals,” as well as content for new Henson properties that will be announced later this year. These appisodes will feature stories, games, and learn and play activities, as well as animated video and music content for a fun kid-friendly experience. By weaving in the shows’ educational and enriching themes, the appisodes will promote deeper engagement and interaction with popular Jim Henson Company branded characters.

The first product, Sid the Science Kid’s Slide to the Side Appisode, will be available beginning in April 2013, following the premiere of the new feature Sid the Science Kid: The Movie, premiering on PBS KIDS on March 25, and will coincide with the release of the movie on DVD and in iTunes. Later in the year will see the release of an appisode featuring the Pajanimals, the popular musical series that airs every night on 24-hour preschool channel Sprout and on the NBC KIDS weekend block.
