JAKKS Pacific, WBCP Partner for DC Super Hero Girls Global Licensing Program

Jakks_DCSuperHeroGirlsJAKKS Pacific Inc. partnered with Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP), on behalf of DC Entertainment, for a multi-year, global licensing deal to manufacture, market, and distribute large action pose dolls, dress-up, and Get Ready for Action items based on the DC Super Hero Girls universe.

DC Super Hero Girls follows female Super Heroes and Super-Villains of the DC universe during their high school years, before they discover their full super power potential. Each character has their own storyline that explores what teen life is like as a Super Hero, including discovering unique abilities, nurturing powers, and mastering the fundamentals of being a hero.

The DC Super Hero Girls line will be available at retailers this fall.

WBCP and DC Entertainment Enter Global Licensing Programs for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Film

Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) signed new licensees for a global licensing and merchandising program for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, releasing in theaters on March 25.

Mattel will unveil a full toy line, including action figures, vehicles, play sets, and collectible figures; The Lego Group will launch construction sets; and Rubie’s Costume Co. will introduce a new line of costumes and accessories for kid and adults.

Other licensees include Funko for stylized collectible figures; Thinkway Toys for a role-play line; Jakks Pacific for Batman and Superman collectible figures; Tonner Dolls for detailed fashion dolls; Bandai America for poseable figure model kits; Spin Master for remote control Batmobiles; and Buffalo Games for adult puzzles.

Sideshow Collectibles will launch detailed statues; The Noble Collection will introduce prop replicas; NECA will launch an 18-inch figure; Soap Studios will launch replicas of the Batmobile; and Hot Toys, Kotobukiya, SquareEnix, Medicom Toy, Prime 1 Studio, and Union Creative will launch collectibles.

Licensees also include Bioworld, Junk Food, New Era Cap Co., Matchless London, Converse Kicks, Scholastic, and Titan Books.

Diane Nelson to Head WBCP, Brad Globe to Step Down

Consumer Products (WBCP) to her current responsibilities as president, DC Entertainment (DCE), and president and chief content officer, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (WBIE). The announcement was made today by Kevin Tsujihara, the chairman and CEO of Warner Bros.

At DCE, Nelson currently leads efforts to strategically integrate the DC Comics, Vertigo, and Mad brands into Warner Bros. Entertainment and its content and distribution businesses. For WBIE, her responsibilities include overseeing the development of digitally powered console and mobile games for WBIE, including those based on DC characters and other Warner Bros. properties.

WBCP Signs Partners for School Supplies

supermanlunchboxWarner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) is partnering with Thermos and Vaultz to bring DC Comics-inspired school supplies to kids heading back to school.

Thermos will introduce Caped Insulated Dual-Compartment Lunch Kits available in Superman and Batman versions, and Insulted Dual-Compartment Lunch Kits in Batgirl and Wonder Woman versions. For Scooby-Doo fans, Thermos will also offer a Scooby-Doo Lunch Box with a padded carrying handle.

Vaultz will offer Locking Pencil Boxes and Locking Binder Pouches featuring the Batman emblem.

Toy State Partners with WBCP for DC Super Friends

DCSuperFriendsToy State has gained the rights to produce a line of DC Super Friends products through a global licensing deal with Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP).

“It’s with great excitement that we announce our new global partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products,” says Andy Friess, Toy State president. “DC Comics is a legendary brand and has been redefining the Super Hero genre for decades. We look forward to adding Toy State product design and innovation to DC Super Friends at retail.”

Toy State’s product line will include R/C vehicles that feature popular DC Comics characters, and will incorporate the company’s best-in-class quality, as well as its innovative ‘lights and sound’ features. Distributed under the Nikko brand, products will hit retail shelves next year.

The Art of the Brick: DC Comics to Debut at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney

Unknown-1Lego Artist Nathan Sawaya in partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) and DC Comics has created the world’s largest collection of DC Comics-inspired Lego artwork, The Art of the Brick: DC Comics. The exhibition will be on display at the Sydney, Australia’s Powerhouse Museum, part of the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences (MAAS), in November—the first venue to host the exhibition’s worldwide tour. The announcement was made by WBCP at Comic-Con International: San Diego.

The contemporary art exhibition takes on the DC Comics’ 80-year history with large-scale sculptures of super heroes and super-villains made entirely out of Lego bricks. Fans at San Diego Comic-Con were given a behind-the-scenes glimpse at several sculptures to be showcased at Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum, including interpretations of Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman during the DC Comics Meets Lego Art panel.

Warner Bros. Consumer Products’ Jordan Sollitto Departs

W.B.C.P.P.62338-SCAN.Jordan Sollitto, executive vice president of international licensing at Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP), will leave the company in July, after 23 years of working in several of the studios’ various divisions.

Sollitto began his tenure at WBCP in 1993 as sales manager of Latin American consumer products and moved up the ladder to managing director just two years later. In 1996, he was promoted to vice president of promotions and branded foods, where he engineered film, television, and animation tie-ins with McDonald’s, Burger King, and Wendy’s. He also initiated the multi-divisional agreement with General Motors to produce the first-ever licensed entertainment co-branded vehicle, the Chevy Warner Bros. Family Entertainment Edition Venture minivan.
