Rainbow Productions Crowned Champions of The Light Fund Treasure Hunt 2015

8361f497-9d09-4fd3-bccd-8d4dfa6e96cbRainbow Productions have held onto their crown as winners of The Light Fund 2015 Treasure Hunt for the second year running. The event, which took place July 16th, raised over £8,000 for the charity.

More than 300 people from the licensing industry put their brains into gear and followed a route around London’s Mayfair (while taking in some of its finest hostelries) to compete in the annual event which culminated at The Institute in Piccadilly.

“Last week’s Treasure Hunt was another hugely successful event and the main, everyone did really well answering the questions and completing the challenges.” Commented Ashley Holman (of Nickelodeon) who, together with Hannah Mungo (eOne) and Robyn Cowling (Underground Toys) were the main organisers of the event.

Three New Licensing Agreements Set for Downton Abbey

Chasing Fireflies has been granted the right to sell keepsake men’s, women’s, and children’s dress-up items inspired by the costumes on the TV series. The North American Bear Co. has been granted the right to create and sell a line of high-quality Downton Abbey bears, inspired by different characters on the show. Underground Toys has been granted rights to manufacture a wide range of Downton Abbey items, such as gifts, toys, and adult collectibles.

Sony Launches 30th Anniversary Merchandising Program for Ghostbusters

Ghostbusters will celebrate its 30th anniversary next year. Sony Pictures Consumer Products (SPCP) will launch a program targeting the core fan base, with products in categories such as apparel, toys, construction, collectibles, and publishing.

SPCP has partnered with pop culture art gallery Gallery 1988 to create a traveling art show designed by top artists, which will include their interpretations of Ghostbusters over the last 30 years. Limited-edition screen prints and posters will be available during each stop of the tour, which will conclude at Comic-Con International in San Diego.

Global toy, publishing, and apparel licensees supporting the 30th anniversary include Mattel, IDW Publishing, World Tech Toys, Quantum Mechanics, Factory Entertainment, Diamond Select, Medicom Toys, Mad Engine, Titan Figures, Uniqlo, Kaientai, and BCI. Partners such as Beeline, Ubisoft, GSN, Path, XMG, and IGT will be supporting with interactive, gaming, and slot machines as well as MDI with state lottery programs. In the collectibles category, Funko will offer pop vinyl collectibles and Underground Toys will provide novelty products.

41 Entertainment Announces UK and Ireland Launch Strategy for Pac-Man


41 Entertainment and its UK licensing agent Lisle International announced its strategy for the launch of the Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures program in the UK.  The TV series includes seasons one and two.

The strategy is as follows:

  • Sky will launch on its stereoscopic 3-D channel.
  • Disney XD will launch on its 2-D platform in January.
  • Burger King will have premiums in more than 500 of its restaurants in January and February.
  • Bandai will initially launch its master toy line in January. 
  • Namco Bandai Games UK will launch the videogame for multi-platforms on March 7. 
  • Blues will launch apparel in first quarter. 
  • VMC Accessories will launch fashion accessories. 
  • KNex will launch construction toys in spring. 
  • The Official Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures magazine will launch throughout spring and summer from Titan, as well as an annual from Pedegree.
  • Novelty items from Underground Toys and dress-up from Palamon will also launch through spring and summer.
  • Giromax will launch trading cards and sticker albums from spring and summer.



Funko and Underground Toys Announce a European Partnership

Funko LLC has partnered with Underground Toys Ltd. to allow Underground Toys to incorporate the Funko line of products within their range of licensed merchandise to be distributed among European retailers, including Toys “R” Us, Tesco, ASDA, Carrefour, and FNAC.

With licenses for more than 70 franchises, including Star Wars, Hello Kitty, Walking Dead, Disney, Marvel, WWE, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Tutles, Funko currently services many U.S. retailers such as Hot Topic, Barnes and Noble, FYE, and Walmart. With this new partnership, the products will be distributed by Underground Toys in Europe.
