DHX Media signed a deal with Cartoon Network U.S. for Mega Man, an original DHX Media co-production with Dentsu Entertainment USA Inc. The series was also picked up by DHX Media’s Family CHRGD for Canada. Based on the Capcom Mega Man video game franchise, the 3-D animated series goes into production this summer at DHX Media’s Vancouver studio. The Japanese anime TV series Doraemon will extend its story into Europe. Global licensing company CPLG, on behalf of VIZ Media Europe, will develop a licensing program for the series in Italy.
Since its launch in 1969, Doraemon has been one of Japan’s most popular multimedia franchises. In Italy, the TV series first aired on Mediaset 10 years ago before moving to kid’s broadcaster Italy Boing where it is one of the top rated shows on the channel. Read the rest of this entry »
Studio 100 Media closed an agreement with AMC Networks International – Central Europe (AMCNI CE), which will bring Studio 100 Media’s Nils Holgersson and The Wild Adventures of Blinky Bill to territories across Eastern Europe including Hungary, Romania, Moldova, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ex-Yugoslavia including Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo, Croatia, and Slovenia.AMCNI CE acquired the exclusive rights to distribute the shows via cable, satellite, and terrestrial television. Both shows will be completed this summer and will premiere on Minimax this June.
The Jim Henson Co. signed broadcast licensing deals with key international partners for two new preschool series, Splash and Bubbles, which airs in the U.S. on PBS KIDS, Dot., which airs in the U.S. on Sprout.

Wind Dancer Films announced a new slate of animated and live-action projects for kids. In addition to the recently-announced upcoming second season of Ready Jet Go!, the company collaborated with Carin Greenberg, Tod Mesirow, and Craig Bartlett to deliver a range of on-screen entertainment projects.
New projects currently in the works include Ready Jet Go! Season 2; The World Wide Webbers; Not A Box; Hello, I Love You; Muse Entertainment; Good Sam. Additional upcoming Wind Dancer Films productions include a range of animated and live-action series and films.
Sesame Workshop announced a new phase of the autism initiative Sesame Street and Autism: See Amazing in All Children, which welcomes Julia, a Muppet with autism. Julia was introduced last year in digital form and will come to life as a Muppet, in addition to a release of resources designed to increase awareness and understanding of autism.
The See Amazing library will add digital videos, books, and e-books, which will be available in English and Spanish. The “Meet Julia” special episode airs on next month on HBO and PBS KIDS in the U.S. and around the world on Cartoonito UK, Australia’s ABC network, and Mexico’s Televisa, with worldwide rollout planned within the year. DHX Media signed an exclusive deal with ZDF to launch season one of its new Teletubbies series on children’s channel KiKA in Germany. The launch builds on the original version of the preschool series that first aired in Germany in 1999.
The global licensing program for the new Teletubbies series is growing rapidly, with more than 85 partners signed to date. The series follows the same four characters and styling as the original show, but brings a contemporary look and feel to the preschool properties. The series has been picked up by 24 broadcasters worldwide, as well as Amazon Prime Video in the U.K., where the commissioning broadcaster is CBeebies.
Cryptozoic Entertainment and Cartoon Network Enterprises partnered to bring Cartoon Network and Adult Swim characters to Quidd, the iOS and Android app that lets fans collect digital stickers, cards, and toys featuring different characters. The app will include characters from Rick and Morty, Adventure Time, Steven Universe, The Powerpuff Girls, Regular Show, The Amazing World Of Gumball, Courage The Cowardly Dog, Johnny Bravo, Dexter’s Laboratory, Cow And Chicken, The Grim Adventures Of Billy And Mandy, Ed, Edd, and Eddy, Clarence, and Uncle Grandpa. Buddy Thunderstruck debuts its first season on Netflix tomorrow. From American Greetings Entertainment, this goofy action-comedy follows the adventures of a semi-truck racing dog named Buddy and his albino ferret mechanic, Darnell. Buddy’s the brashest, fastest race-truck driver you’ll ever see. Buddy Thunderstruck will feature a 12-episode season.
The revival of Cartoon Network’s franchise The Powerpuff Girls made a debut across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) last April. As London Toy Fair prepares to open its doors, Cartoon Network details the UK launch plans for the new The Powerpuff Girls range from global toy partner Spin Master.
Argos debuted the initial rollout this month, including the Story Maker play set and plush from its online catalogue. The launch is supported by a TV and digital campaign.
