The Jim Henson Co. Signs New Global Broadcast Deals for Dot. Animated Series

Dot._TheJimHensonCompanyThe Jim Henson Co. signed several new deals with linear broadcasters worldwide for the original animated series, Dot., based on the children’s picture book by Randi Zuckerberg.

The series was licensed by  TG4 (Ireland), YLE (Finland), Hop (Israel), ABC (Australia), and EBS Korea, in addition to Disney Channel Japan, which debuted the series this month. Jim Henson’s Animated Preschool Series Doozesr Renewed for Season Two

DoozersThe Jim Henson Co.’s Doozers was renewed for season two on Hulu. The animated series for preschoolers features characters from the classic Henson series, Fraggle Rock.

 Doozers encourages kids to create and innovate with The Pod Squad, as they bounce from one fabulous adventure to the next in Doozer Creek. Preschoolers will learn about design thinking, ways to make eco-friendly choices, and an understanding of how things work. Jim Henson Co. Signs Snaptoys as Master Toy Licensee for Word Party

snaptoysThe Jim Henson Co. appointed Snaptoys as the master toy licensee for the Netflix original series Word Party. The second season of the preschool series will premier next month.

Word Party is a vocabulary building show that follows four baby animals. Kids help teach the baby animals new words, practice these new words themselves, and celebrate achievements with a Word Party as they watch.

Snaptoys will launch with a range of product categories including plush, figures, play sets, and electronics next year.


The Jim Henson Co. Appoints Partners to Celebrate Labyrinth’s 30th Anniversary


The Jim Henson Co. signed new apparel and figurines licensing partners to celebrate fantasy classic Labyrinth’s 30th anniversary. The film, starring David Bowie and Jennnifer Connelly, was produced by the Jim Henson Co. and Lucasfilm Ltd.

New apparel partners include Trademark Products in the U.K. and Zen Monkey Studios in the U.S., and new partners for figurines include Funko in the U.S.

Additionally, publisher Insight Editions will release Labyrinth: The Ultimate Visual History in October, featuring artwork, interviews, and on-set photos. Jim Henson’s Labyrinth: The Board Game from River Horse will debut this summer. The classic will also launch on Blu-ray and next generation 4K Ultra HD on September 20 with special features that will take fans behind the scenes at the Center for Puppetry Arts. The film will be released in a Limited Edition Gift Set to include a Digibook in mirrorbox packaging inspired by the film’s climactic and iconic final scene, retailing initially exclusively at Amazon.

Doozers Debuts on Germany’s KiKa, New Partners Signed

DoozersThe Jim Henson Company’s CG-animated preschool series Doozers recently commenced broadcast on Germany’s KiKa coinciding with the signing of additional new media partners for the series.

The UK’s Video On Demand 365 Ltd. (VOD 365) has acquired subscription VOD rights to the series and Letson Corporation Ltd. has acquired ad-supported VOD rights for Russia.

The Doozers is a co-production of The Jim Henson Company and DHX Media. The series celebrates the spirit of being an innovator, and inspires all kids to have an “I can do it” attitude.

Jim Henson Company Appoints Federico San Martin As Vice President, Global Consumer Products

FedericoSanMartinHeadshotFederico San Martin joins The Jim Henson Company as vice president of global consumer products. The announcement was made on June 2 by Peter Schube, the company’s president and COO, to whom San Martin will report. In his new role, San Martin will oversee licensing activities for the company’s children’s brands, including Dinosaur Train, Sid the Science Kid, and Doozers. He will also spearhead programs for new properties, and manage licensing for the company’s Henson Independent Properties (HIP) brands.

San Martin joins The Jim Henson Company from DreamWorks Studios where he served as head of global toys. In his past position, San Martin successfully developed the retail programs for properties such as How to Train Your Dragon, and created strategies for the DreamWorks and classic media portfolios. Prior to his role at DreamWorks, San Martin managed more than 60 licensees at Warner Bros. Consumer Products where he executed cross-promotional initiatives, gaining extensive experience in the Latin American licensing market. He has also held various roles at Mattel and Pop Rocket.

Simon & Schuster to Create Doozers Book Line

Oct3.SimonSchusterThe Jim Henson Co. has announced a publishing agreement with Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing to create a line of books based on Doozers—an animated preschool series inspired the characters from the company’s classic series Fraggle Rock.

The first two Doozers books will be available as paperbacks, library editions, and e-books next fall, with additional titles to debut in 2016.
