Stone America has announced that current client Mel’s Drive-In has signed its first food licensing agreement with Vita Foods to develop a line of branded burger sauce and seasoning, chili sauce and seasoning, dessert toppings, and pancake syrups. The Mel’s Drive-In line will feature various flavors that the Mel’s Drive-In consumer has enjoyed at Mel’s over the years. The products will be released early next year.
The Vita Seafood division is a U.S. leader in the herring production market and the refrigerated salmon marketplace, and is engaged in several other food segments, including cream cheese, cocktail sauce, tartar sauce, and horseradish. Vita markets and sells these items under the Vita, Elf, and Grand Isle brands. More than 95 percent of Vita Seafood’s sales are in kosher foods. Vita Specialty Foods, Inc., Vita’s wholly owned subsidiary, markets and sells sweeteners, salad dressings, barbecue sauces, and other meat enhancements, dessert toppers, and salsas.
Made famous by George Lucas’ 1973 film American Graffiti, the original Mel’s Drive-In was founded in 1947 by Mel Weiss and Harold Dobbs in San Francisco. Mel’s was also used as a location in the 1967 film Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, starring Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn.
Mel’s has licensing agreements with Universal Theme Parks with Mel’s locations in Hollywood, Florida, Japan, and Singapore.
Stone America Licensing has been appointed licensing agent by NYC teen/college student fashion bag company, Yak Pak. Founded in 1989 by Stephen Holt and Rolando Cohen in Brooklyn, N.Y., Yak Pak provides young consumers with backpacks, messenger bags, handbags, totes, laptop sleeves, luggage, and accessories. Yak Paks are sold at retailers across the United States and Canada ranging from teen specialty chains, boutiques, and department stores, to sporting goods retailers and college book stores. Stone America Licensing, announced today it has been appointed as the worldwide licensing agent by the sports/athletic brand Stall & Dean.
Established in 1898 in Brockton, Massachusetts, Stall & Dean provided equipment for such greats as Babe Ruth and Bronko Nagurski. Currently, you can find celebrities and athletes, including LeBron James, Shaquille O’Neal, Jay-Z, and Kanye West, sporting looks from the athletic brand.

Paid, Inc. and The Bold and the Beautiful have appointed Stone America, LLC, to develop and license The Bold and the Beautiful and “Forrester Creations” fashion lifestyle merchandise, to include home, apparel, and beauty products.
Paid will work alongside The Bold and the Beautiful team in the licensing area, which will encompass retail and live experiences, among other categories. Paid is also working with The Bold and the Beautiful on the development of connected fan communities to support the series, including fan events and outreach for its stars, as well as coordinating the strategic direction of the series’ website and social media initiatives. Fans can register online to receive news and automatic updates as new services, interactive events, and licensing programs are announced.
