Sesame Workshop to Expand Sesame Street and Autism Content this Year

SesameWorkshop_JuliaSesame Workshop announced a new phase of the autism initiative Sesame Street and Autism: See Amazing in All Children, which welcomes Julia, a Muppet with autism. Julia was introduced last year in digital form and will come to life as a Muppet, in addition to a release of resources designed to increase awareness and understanding of autism.

The See Amazing library will add digital videos, books, and e-books, which will be available in English and Spanish. The “Meet Julia” special episode airs on next month on HBO and PBS KIDS in the U.S. and around the world on Cartoonito UK, Australia’s ABC network, and Mexico’s Televisa, with worldwide rollout planned within the year. Sesame Street Announces Global Multimedia Kindness Campaign

ElmoThis year, Sesame Workshop will launch Spread Kindness, #ShareTheLaughter, a year-long global multimedia campaign. During the campaign, kids will find kindness-themed episodes on the 47th season of Sesame Street on HBO and PBS KIDS, as well as new and classic videos and songs that will stream on social media channels and celebrate kindness. Sesame Workshop Names Sambro International Licensee for European Territories

SesameStreet_SambroSesame Workshop named Sambro International as its licensee to develop a new range of Sesame Street plush toys, bags, and arts and crafts for the UK, Benelux, Iberia, the Nordic countries, and Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).

CPLG, Sesame Workshop’s licensing representative in the territories, helped broker the deal. Sambro will create a variety of branded products to build a strong presence with major retailers working closely with CPLG’s local network of offices.

Sesame Workshop Names Headstart Regional Toy Licensee for Australia and New Zealand

Feld Entertainment Inc., Sesame Workshop Partner to Develop Sesame Street Live Shows

sesamestreetFeld Entertainment Inc. and Sesame Workshop partnered to develop Sesame Street live shows tours.  Feld Entertainment will produce and tour live Sesame Street productions in the U.S. The first production under the new deal is slated to launch next October.  The current Sesame Street Live! tour will continue through the summer.

Sesame Street, Baghch-e-Simsim Debut First Afghan Muppet Zari

Sesame Workshop unveiled its first Afghan Muppet Zari, a 6-year-old inquisitive girl ready to make her debut in the fifth season of Baghch-e-Simsim, the co-production of Sesame Street in Afghanistan.

Zari will feature in new, locally produced segments that focus on curriculum topics such as girls’ empowerment, national identity, physical health, and social and emotional wellbeing. Season five of Baghch-e-Simsim (Sesame Garden) can be seen on Tolo TV on Thursday and Friday at 4:00 p.m., and Lemar TV on Thursday and Friday at 4:30 p.m.

Zari, which translates as “shimmering,” will feature in three formats: speaking directly to viewers, interacting with kids in person, and interviewing different Afghan professionals.

Segments from other Sesame co-productions, adapted and dubbed into Dari and Pashto, will continue to introduce children to Muppet friends from the series in Egypt, Bangladesh, Mexico, and Russia.

Sesame Workshop Enters New Apparel and Accessory Collaborations

Sesame Workshop’s Sesame Street will launch new apparel and accessory lines this year through partnerships with Crocs and Quicksilver/Roxy, Pancoat, Puma, Mishka, Uniqlo, and A Bathing Ape.

Crocs will introduce a Sesame Street three-pack of Jibbitz shoe charms, featuring Elmo, Big Bird, and Cookie Monster, and a new style of Elmo Fuzz Lined Clogs for kids in the fall.

Quiksilver/Roxy will introduce a winter snow collection of jackets, snowsuits, helmets, mittens, and goggles for infants, toddlers and kids this September.

Pancoat launched its first collaboration program with Sesame Street this February, including sweatshirts, jogger pants, hoodies, and other casual apparel for kids to young adults.

Puma’s collection launched this January and includes apparel, accessories, and footwear styles.

Mishka’s collection features original artwork that updates and reinterprets classic Sesame Street characters using Mishka’s tongue-in-cheek and ironic aesthetic.

The Uniqlo collection has expanded to include T-Shirts this year, and Sesame Street will be part of the UT Collection supported by Uniqlo’s social media platforms and website.

 A Bathing Ape collection includes specially created “Baby Milo-nized” Sesame Street characters.

Sesame Workshop will also expand its agency partnership with CPLG in select European markets, including France, Spain, and Italy for apparel and gifting categories designed for teens and adults.

Sesame Streets Unveils New Format, Segment, and Cast Member

Two new episodes of Sesame Street will debut on HBO starting at 9 a.m. on January 16.  Every Saturday thereafter, a new episode will air at 9 a.m. followed by a repeat episode at 9:30a.m. New episodes will also simultaneously debut on HBO Latino and be dubbed into Spanish. All episodes will now be 30-minute long allowing young viewers to engage with the TV series.

Families will also be able to watch new and past seasons of Sesame Street daily on HBO Family at 8 a.m., and five years of library episodes will be available for streaming on HBO Now and HBO Go. Episodes will also be available on HBO On Demand and affiliate portals.

Sesame Street content continues to be available to PBS Kids viewers on weekdays and Sundays on local stations, and on the PBS Kids video app. Season 46 episodes will begin airing on PBS Kids next fall.

Sesame Street’s well-known set, theme song, and show opening will have new updates and the show will open in the Sesame Street neighborhood. Cookie Monster will have an all-new segment, “Smart Cookies,” where he’ll continue to work on his self-regulation skills. The show will introduce Nina, a young, bilingual, Hispanic woman, who uses her wit, compassion, and charisma to help the furry residents of Sesame Street solve their daily dilemmas.

Sesame Street has announced a new initiative Sesame Street’s Everyday Heroes Club to continue its mission of helping kids grow smarter, stronger, and kinder. The project includes engaging online activities, hilarious Muppet videos, local events, and a social media campaign to share stories and to encourage kids and families that practicing kindness not only makes other people feel good, but also makes the doer feel good.

Kids and families can share their act of kindness on www.sesameheroes.org to earn a membership card, a club certificate, and special badges, including Manners, Respect, Giving, and Sharing.
