Sesame Workshop Appoints Mattel as Master Toy Licensee in Latin America

SesamoCharactersAs part of Sesame Street’s relaunch as Sésamo in Latin America, Sesame Workshop has named Mattel its master toy licensee in the region. As part of the new licensing agreement, Sesame Street characters will be featured on Mattel’s Mega Bloks preschool construction sets across the U.S., Canada, and Latin America.

Mattel’s line of toys for Latin America will feature Elmo, Cookie Monster, and Abby Cadabby, Bert, and Ernie. The line will be available in the region next May and the product range will feature plastic figurines and feature plush. Sesame Workshop Elmo’s #ShareTheLaughter Challenge to Spread Kindness

Sesame WorkshopSesaneStreet_KindnessCampaign launched Elmo’s #ShareTheLaughter Challenge, a social media campaign inspired by season 47 of Sesame Street. The culmination of a yearlong “Spread Kindness, Share the Laughter” initiative, the campaign encourages viewers to tell their favorite jokes in short videos, post them online, and tag friends to do the same.

In the kickoff video, comedian Kate McKinnon shared a joke with Elmo and challenged Cookie Monster to make a video of his own. Other celebrity participants include Josh Groban, Andy GrammerMatt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Padma Lakshmi, and Drew Scott Additional celebrities to be featured in future videos, including Ilana Glazer, Kit Harington, Gwendoline Christie, Sophie Turner, Alessia Cara, Shaun White, Lindsay Vonn, and John Legend. Sesame Workshop to Expand Sesame Street and Autism Content this Year

SesameWorkshop_JuliaSesame Workshop announced a new phase of the autism initiative Sesame Street and Autism: See Amazing in All Children, which welcomes Julia, a Muppet with autism. Julia was introduced last year in digital form and will come to life as a Muppet, in addition to a release of resources designed to increase awareness and understanding of autism.

The See Amazing library will add digital videos, books, and e-books, which will be available in English and Spanish. The “Meet Julia” special episode airs on next month on HBO and PBS KIDS in the U.S. and around the world on Cartoonito UK, Australia’s ABC network, and Mexico’s Televisa, with worldwide rollout planned within the year. Sesame Workshop Names Sambro International Licensee for European Territories

SesameStreet_SambroSesame Workshop named Sambro International as its licensee to develop a new range of Sesame Street plush toys, bags, and arts and crafts for the UK, Benelux, Iberia, the Nordic countries, and Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).

CPLG, Sesame Workshop’s licensing representative in the territories, helped broker the deal. Sambro will create a variety of branded products to build a strong presence with major retailers working closely with CPLG’s local network of offices.
