TCG Extends Collection with New Licensees for Puzzles, Games, Accessories

TCG_HometownCollectionTCG (formerly known as The Canadian Group) will grow its product offerings to include a wide range of puzzles, games, and play accessories featuring licenses for kids and families.

The company acquired the Hometown trademark, featuring the work of folk artist Harry Wysocki, also known as Heronim. In addition, TCG expands into home décor for the first time with its new Tidy Town line of storage and play units inspired by kids’ properties. Nelvana Expands Shopkins Brand

shopkins_sg_ca_hero_group_7Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana Enterprises, the sales, brand-management and consumer products division of Nelvana, has extended the reach of its fast-growing Shopkins licensing program to fans in Russia, the Middle East, and Scandinavia through a range of new partnerships.

Nelvana will introduce Shopkins merchandise to Russian consumers via Megalicense International, a recent sub-agent for the brand in Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States, Ukraine, and the Baltic nations of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. New licensees for Russia include AST Origami for board games and arts and crafts; AST Publishing for magazines; Perfetti for chocolate balls; Tarna Rosman for plush, party goods, art and crafts, and stationery; and Unitoys for card games. In Spain, Miraculous Ladybug toys from Bandai sold out during the holiday season and all licensing categories are now covered. Top deals include Panini for stickers, sticker albums, and the official magazine; a perfume line from Air-Val; books from Planeta; board games from Educa Borrás; back-to-school products from Safta; and arts and crafts from Cife. MasterPieces Inc., Realtree Debut New Line of Camouflage Puzzles

Realtree_MasterpiecesMasterPieces Inc. and Realtree partnered for a new line of Realtree camouflage puzzles. The puzzles combine original woodland scenes with camo patterns for a line of 1000-piece puzzle sets.

The first four puzzles in MasterPieces Realtree line include North American animals in forest scenes, as well as cabin and fishing scenes. The new puzzles will be on display at the American International Toy Fair this year, with anticipated retail availability this spring.

Stephen Joseph, Cardinal Games Enter License Agreement

stevenjospeh_cardinalgamesStephen Joseph entered into a license agreement with Cardinal Industries for a variety of games and puzzles including cardboard, wood and foam puzzles, and playing card and memory card games. The deal was created by The Brand Liaison.

Stephen Joseph products will be shown at Booth 12-2000 at this week’s Dallas Toy Preview.

 

GeoToys Goes Around the World with Encyclopaedia Britannica

GeoToys has partnered with Encyclopaedia Britannica Inc. to develop a complete lineup of educational puzzles and games under Encyclopaedia Britannica and Britannica Kids brands. The two partners were brought together by JRL Group Inc.

GeoToys’ first product under the Encyclopaedia Britannica license is Around the World, a board game that includes more than 200 questions and answers in categories like geography, language, culture, and people from around the world.

The game will be available at Barnes and Noble, amazon.com, and several other specialty and independent toy retailers in the holiday season this year.

MasterPieces Puzzle Co. Enters Licensing Deal for Toys, Puzzles

Dec4.AnimalPlanetDiscovery Consumer Products entered two new deals to create lines of branded toys, puzzles, and craft sets based on the Animal Planet themes of dinosaurs, ocean, and land. Smart Play LLC and MasterPieces Puzzle Co. will create products to encourage exploration of the animal kingdom and fuel imagination.

Smart Play will develop educational toys designed for kids ages 2 to 8, including 3-D flashcards and puzzles, puzzle cubes, alphabet floor puzzles, a lighted click-and-see toy projector, and an electronic learning pad. MasterPieces Puzzle Co. will develop a line of puzzles and craft sets, including 3-D puzzles with a paint component and wooden craft kits, depicting Animal Planet and Shark Week themes.

The new items from MasterPieces and Smart Play will be available next year.

SmileyWorld Ltd. Signs New Deals

blog_headerSmileyWorld Ltd. and Decopatch have signed a two-year deal to distribute Smiley stickers across Europe and the Middle East. These chunky, kooky stickers can be used to brighten up any notebook or phone case or to just make you or someone else smile.

The line drops in February, with the stickers to be available from boutiques and hypermarkets such as Cultura, Monoprix, and Ludendo.

Spanish toy manufacturer Educa Borras has also struck a deal with SmileyWorld to produce and distribute six different Smiley-themed puzzles featuring the iconic SmileyWorld artwork. The sizes range from 100-500 pieces as well as puzzles with over 600 pieces to accommodate children of all ages. The puzzles will be available for purchase from department stores and specialty markets around the world.
