MarVista Entertainment Expands Executive Team

MarVista Entertainment’s Continued Growth Leads to New Executive-Level Appointments

MarVista Entertainment celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. Growing from a commission-based distributor of third party programming to a pre-eminent global producer and distributor of a broad range of entertainment content, MarVista Entertainment innovates and redefines the role of today’s independent production and distribution company.

Winny Poon has been named Vice President and Controller. She is responsible for the company’s financial plans, policies, and accounting practices; the maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports.

Tony Vassiliadis joins as Director of Strategic Programs. Vassiliadis engages with all areas of the organization to launch and implement strategic initiatives to improve the company’s operations and profitability.

Hannah Pillemer will oversee projects from early development through final delivery in the film and television market. Responsibilities include development of script, series bibles, treatments and network pitches; providing script analysis and coverage review; supervising all creative aspects involved in the production of multiple features; and providing support in assessing new production partners and international co-production opportunities.

Saban Brands and MarVista Entertainment Present Julius Jr. Series

Saban Brands introduces the new animated preschool series Julius Jr. and names MarVista Entertainment the international television distributor for the 2D animated series.

Saban Brands and Brain Power Studio are currently in production of 26 half-hour episodes (or 52 x 11 minute episodes) of Julius Jr., starring characters based on the Paul Frank brand, which MarVista will debut to international television buyers at this year’s MIP Junior market. Saban Brands will support Julius Jr. with a global consumer products campaign currently in development.

Saban Brands Power Up for 2013

Saban Brands will celebrate 20 years of its Power Rangers brand with events, surprise appearances, and a variety of partnerships throughout next year. Saban Brands will launch the newest version of Power Rangers with Power Rangers Megaforce next year, delivering action, humor, excitement, and entertainment, in addition to the core themes of friendship, teamwork, fitness, and helping others. Saban Brands is also expanding Power Rangers to other platforms–including mobile phone apps, games, videos, and online activities, in addition to commemorative merchandise, live Power Ranger appearances, and more.

Saban will develop 20th Anniversary offerings with the following licensees: Accessory Innovations (accessories), Bandai (toys), Concept One (accessories), Disguise (costumes), Hot Properties (gifts and novelties), JEM Sportswear (apparel), Li & Fung USA/Briefly Stated (sleepwear), Mattel (toys), Mega Bloks (toys), Mighty Fine (apparel), Shout! Factory (DVD’s), and TreeHouse (toys).

MarVista Entertainment has licensed Power Rangers Samurai and Power Rangers Super Samurai to the UK’s Channel 5. Episodes of both seasons will premiere later this summer in the channel’s new weekend animation block for boys. MarVista signed new international broadcast partners for Power Rangers Samurai, including Boing (Spain), Venevision (Venezuela), Mega (Chile), and Sonic (India). These international partners join existing partners, including Nickelodeon (multiple territories), Channel 9 (Australia), TV4 (New Zealand), Canal J and Gulli (France), Mediaset’s Italia 1 and Boing (Italy), and Televisa (Mexico).

Power Rangers Samurai reaches over 150 territories across the globe. Saban Brands continues to market Power Rangers around the world and will support the Channel 5 U.K., market launch with character appearances, retail promotions and advertising.


MarVista Entertainment Teams with Borders

MarVista Entertainment is working with Borders to launch an exclusive line of consumer products supporting the world premiere of 16 Wishes. The movie premieres Friday, June 25 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel.

Borders will be the exclusive retailer for all 16 Wishes merchandise. A variety of products will be available nationally in all Borders and Waldenbooks retail locations and online at

MarVista has also signed a promotional partnership with Rita’s Italian Ice to promote the movie. Beginning June 15, 16 Wishes movie flyers will be posted in all stores, and the company will support the launch with an email campaign to its “Birthday Club” members, together with a Facebook and Twitter campaign.
