Rubie’s Costume Co. to Launch Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Costume Collection

Marvel Announces #GrootDancebomb Challenge to Support The Nature Conservancy with the Disney Conservation Fund

Working with the Disney Conservation Fund to support forest restoration through The Nature Conservancy, the challenge blends surprise and dance during Earth Month.

Marvel gave YouTube personality Dominic “D-trix” Sandoval an early look at Groot and his new dancing toy line, and challenged him to create a Groot-inspired dance move, marking the first #GrootDancebomb. Disney Expands Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Merchandise Ahead of the Holiday Season

Dec8.GuardiansFollowing the box office success of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Disney Consumer Products has launched new toys for the holiday season. The product release coincided with the DVD and Blu-Ray launch of the film on December 9.

The new toy and collectible lineup includes KIDdesigns‘ Dancing Groot toy. Other key products include Funko‘s POP! Marvel: Dancing Groot Bobble-head, Funko’s Fabrikations Guardians of the Galaxy–Rocket Raccoon collectible, Hot Wheels‘ Star-Lord and Rocket Raccoon Character Cars, Just Play’s Rocket Raccoon Plush, and Dragon Models’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Star-Lord Model Kit.

Guardians of the Galaxy Set to Launch into Retail Ahead of Theatrical Release

Licensees and retailers are preparing for high fan demand for merchandise inspired by Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy in anticipation of the upcoming movie. Retailers have developed a wide range of product lines with over 50 licensees that are attracting strong placement and pre-sales across mass, mid-tier, specialty, and online retail channels. Products are set to start launching in mid-June. In addition, Marvel Studio’s marketing for the merchandising program will hit full force beginning in late-June.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is an action-packed, space adventure where adventurer Peter Quill is the center of a bounty hunt after he stole a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions to threaten the universe. Quill forms a truce with Groot, Rocket Raccoon, Gamora, and Drax to evade Ronan and must participate in a final showdown to restore balance in the galaxy.

The upcoming movie is unique to any others in the Marvel franchise, which had made it appealing to manufacturers and consumers.  Rocket Raccoon will distinguish himself as a breakout character, which has made him popular for licensees to keep up with the anticipated demand for Rocket inspired products.  In addition, Star-Lord’s obsession with the 80’s has created a platform for a wide range of 80’s nostalgia apparel and accessories. Manufacturers are also focusing on Drax and Gamora, who have become popular with male and female demographics.

Marvel Entertainment Announces Deal with Jay Franco to Develop Home Goods Collection

In anticipation of Marvel’s upcoming major film franchise, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel Entertainment, LLC collaborates with home décor leader, Jay Franco to develop a line of bedding, pillows, bath accessories, and beach products to launch this summer. Jay Franco joins a list of existing licensees to create products based on the film, including Hasbro, Disguise, C-Life, Mad Engine, and Sideshow Collectibles.

Marvel Adds New Apparel Partners for Guardians of the Galaxy

Marvel Entertainment has announced that Mad Engine, C-Life, and New Era will introduce a line of apparel and accessories inspired by Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, in theaters August 1, 2014. As the first apparel partners for the film, C-Life, Mad Engine, and New Era join other partners including Hasbro, Disguise, and Sideshow Collectibles for an overall merchandising program for the latest Marvel film franchise.

Mad Engine and C-Life will serve as the core apparel licensee with a line of tees and fleece for boys and men, while New Era, an international lifestyle brand, will develop signature co-branded headwear and hats inspired by the Marvel property.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is directed by James Gunn and stars Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), and Benicio del Toro (The Collector). The film follows Peter Quill (aka Star Lord), Gamora, Drax, Groot, and Rocket Raccoon, as they join forces to defeat a cosmic force.
