Sesame Workshop Appoints Mattel as Master Toy Licensee in Latin America

SesamoCharactersAs part of Sesame Street’s relaunch as Sésamo in Latin America, Sesame Workshop has named Mattel its master toy licensee in the region. As part of the new licensing agreement, Sesame Street characters will be featured on Mattel’s Mega Bloks preschool construction sets across the U.S., Canada, and Latin America.

Mattel’s line of toys for Latin America will feature Elmo, Cookie Monster, and Abby Cadabby, Bert, and Ernie. The line will be available in the region next May and the product range will feature plastic figurines and feature plush. The Wild Adventures of Blinky Bill to Launch on Nat Geo Kids in Latin America

blinkybillStudio 100 Media and National Geographic received exclusive pay-TV rights of the CGI animated series The Wild Adventures of Blinky Bill for the Latin American territories. The deal was arranged by Studio 100’s exclusive distribution partner for Latin America, Comarex.

The Wild Adventures of Blinky Bill will air on National Geographic’s kids’ multiplatform Nat Geo Kids. The show launches on July 1 in Latin America and Brazil this September. The show targets kids ages 4 to 7. Read the rest of this entry »

Sunrights Inc. Extends Beyblade Burtst into Latin America

beyblade-burstSunrights Inc. will partner with Cartoon Network for season one of Beyblade Burst in Latin America. The series launched in June and airs on Fridays.

The animated series launched on Teletoon and Disney XD in Canada last fall, and on Disney XD in the U.S. last December. Beyblade Burst also airs in Australia on Channel Go! and the series will add broadcasters throughout Europe this year.

Televix is currently in negotiations to secure broadcast on Free TV and other platforms throughout Latin America, as well as licensing and merchandising deals in the region. The Beyblade Burst product line from Hasbro will hit the shelves in Latin America shortly after the broadcast launch.

LIMA to Host Second Annual Licensing Showcase in Latin America

May27LIMA(2)The International Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association (LIMA) will host Expolicencias Latin America 2017, its second Annual Latin American licensing conference and showcase, from March 27 to 28 in Bogota, Colombia. The event will provide licensors, licensees, retailers, and other related business professionals the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the Latin American market.

Silvergate Media, Netflix Sign New Three-year Deal for Octonauts

Silvergate Media, Netflix signed a new three-year, multi-territory deal for seasons one, two, and three of preschool property Octonauts.

Netflix is currently the exclusive SVOD partner for Octonauts in the U.S.

Octonauts will now be available on Netflix in France, Latin America (Spanish), and Canada (English and French). The number of series under license varies in each territory.

Now in its fourth season Octonauts is aired in more than 100 countries across the world, including Disney Channel (U.S.), ABC (Australia), TF1 (France), Super RTL (Germany), and China Central TV (CCTV).

Discovery Kids Acquires Wissper from m4e for Latin America

Discovery Networks Latin America/U.S. Hispanic (DLA/USH) and m4e AG signed a deal to launch new CGI-animated series Wissper in Latin America. Wissper will broadcast on Discovery Kids, DLA/USH’s 24-hour preschool network next year.

The TV series follows the adventures of a little girl Wissper, who has the ability to communicate with animals, allowing her to understand them and solve their problems.

Disney and Leomil Expand their Cooperation into Latin America

The Walt Disney Co. and Leomil Group have expanded their cooperation into Latin America. Leomil Group has been a long time partner with Disney in major territories worldwide, such as EMEA, Russia, and Asia, and has already started its sales in Colombia and Suriname for Frozen, Minnie, and the upcoming film The Good Dinosaur. The cooperation on the Marvel franchise Spider-Man is heading into Colombia, Chile, Central America, the Caribbean, and Suriname.

Plants vs. Zombies Continues to Grow in Latin America

PopCap Games in partnership with ConAgra Foods has released a promotion with Act II, Del Monte brands in Mexico, and with Plants vs. Zombies. 

The partnership, which runs through October and November, features popular characters from the hit game Plants vs. Zombies on Act II Microwave Popcorn and Del Monte Ketchup. ConAgra has also released exclusive plant and zombie-flavored popcorn.

The Plants vs. Zombies brand continues to see growth and renewed excitement in Latin America, with new licensees such as Editorial Nueva Idea, Grupo Waisgold, Prexio, MIC, and Impulsora Arra.

CPL is the new Licensing Agent for Dinosaur Train in Latin America

The Jim Henson Co. is expanding its partnership with Compañia Panamericana de Licencias (CPL) for Dinosaur Train’s licensing program in Latin America.  CPL currently represents CGI-animated preschool series Doozers for the company.

Dinosaur Train, a series about dinosaurs and trains, has helped instill scientific thinking and curiosity amongst preschoolers.

Discovery Consumer Products Partners With 4e de Mexico for New Pet Care Line in U.S. and Latin America

Discovery Consumer Products, the licensing arm of Discovery Communications, has partnered with 4e de Mexico, the leading producer of personal, hygiene, home, and pet care products in Mexico, to launch a new pet care line in the U.S. and Latin America. This partnership builds on Animal Planet’s existing line-up of pet care products in both countries.

The extensive line of Animal Planet pet care offerings includes pet shampoos and conditioners, pet odor neutralizers, pet repellents, pet cleaners, detergent (with or without chlorine), and Hummingbird pet food.

4e’s Animal Planet product line will be available at mass-market retailers, specialty stores, price clubs, and online retailers in Mexico and the U.S. In Latin America, the products will be available in Belize, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panamá, Colombia, Perú, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Bolivia.

The new pet product line will debut at retail stores in next spring.
