Zag, Method Animation, and Planeta Junior (Planeta & DeAgostini Group) partnered for co-production on the development of five upcoming animated TV series under the Zag Heroez label.
The collaboration starts with two Zag Heroez animated series Power Players, which features a team of secret heroes formed by a boy and his toys, and Pixigirl, which tells the story of a super-heroine with the supernatural powers of Mother Nature who battles evil witches in New York. Hasbro Inc. was named global master toy licensee by Sutikki, the new kids and family division of Bento Box Entertainment. The line of toys will based on the new preschool series, Moon and Me from Andrew Davenport’s Foundling Bird.
Inspired by tales of toys that come to life when nobody is looking, Moon and Me is the comical story of a special friendship between two characters from completely different worlds. Zag Studios‘ action series Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir headed to Netflix this month, where the first season premiered on Feb. 10. Netflix acquired the U.S. streaming video on demand (SVOD) rights for seasons one to three.
Thomas & Friends, from Mattel Inc., kicked off its first global brand campaign with a year-long marketing program, Set Friendship in Motion.
The campaign aims to help preschoolers strengthen friendship skills, such as collaboration, communication, sharing, manners, kindness, and the abilities to express and understand feelings and emotions. Disney Channel ordered a third season of Elena of Avalor, an animated series that follows a brave and adventurous teenager who rules her kingdom. The series premiered last summer in the U.S. and targets kids ages 2 to 11. Elena of Avalor holds the number one spot in its timeslot in the U.S., the UK, Spain, and Portugal. Independent French animation studio Procidis appointed new licensees in France and internationally for its animated series Once Upon a Time…Life, which is part of the classic Hello Maestro umbrella brand.
With the launch of the revamped TV series on France 4 in March, the first new products to rollout include a comic book and documentary books. Additional licensees that will launch products in France this year include, SONY for DVDs, Hachette for an encyclopedia, La Poste for an official stamp, and Alcara for charms.
