Leading up to the Guardians Of The Galaxy, Vol. 2 premiere on May 5, Marvel announced the global #GrootDancebomb challenge. Working with the Disney Conservation Fund to support forest restoration through The Nature Conservancy, the challenge blends surprise and dance during Earth Month.
Marvel gave YouTube personality Dominic “D-trix” Sandoval an early look at Groot and his new dancing toy line, and challenged him to create a Groot-inspired dance move, marking the first #GrootDancebomb. On Wednesday, Disney Consumer Products (DCP) revealed its 2015 plans for Marvel and its key franchises, including The Avengers and Spider-Man. This year will see the roll-out of one of DCP’s biggest licensing programs to date, which would revolve around Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, the launch of new animated content, and innovative marketing initiatives.
For Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, Marvel is working closely with licensees—such as Hasbro, Lego, Hot Wheels, Funko, and more—to develop products that expand the storytelling of the franchise. Through this year and beyond, Marvel’s campaigns will focus on new animation onDisney XD, as well as a new marvelkids.com microsite, where kids can regularly interact with the characters and experience new content. Following the box office success of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Disney Consumer Products has launched new toys for the holiday season. The product release coincided with the DVD and Blu-Ray launch of the film on December 9.
The new toy and collectible lineup includes KIDdesigns‘ Dancing Groot toy. Other key products include Funko‘s POP! Marvel: Dancing Groot Bobble-head, Funko’s Fabrikations Guardians of the Galaxy–Rocket Raccoon collectible, Hot Wheels‘ Star-Lord and Rocket Raccoon Character Cars, Just Play’s Rocket Raccoon Plush, and Dragon Models’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Star-Lord Model Kit.
With the release of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Snap Creative brings consumers collectible cups and cup toppers that are inspired by the movie. The cups will feature detailed figures of Rocket and Quill, and it will be available in theater chains worldwide.
Collectible popcorn packs will be sold in theaters for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, set to release on August 8. The collectible pack from Snap Creative will include branded popcorn boxes and cup toppers for each one of the Turtles.
On September 16, Spartacus: The Complete Series will be released on Blu-ray. Snap Creative will introduce a Spartacus collector’s figurine in each package.

Marvel Entertainment LLC has unveiled several new collaborations in the drinkware category. New products will include Marvel characters from The Avengers and Spider-Man franchises, including designs inspired by the theatrical releases of Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Marvel’s newest team, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
Thermos brings a range of Marvel characters to insulated containers to be sold in mass market retailers and at Amazon.com starting this summer. The products feature characters from The Avengers, Spider-Man, and Guardians of the Galaxy. The line also includes lunch kits and food jars. Zak Designs will also feature a range of characters from the Marvel Universe on drinkware. Spider-Man and The Avengers characters are available now, while new drinkware designs for Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy will launch timed to each theatrical release. The Zak Designs products will also include dinnerware and food storage.
Available now, ICUP has launched a line of drinking glasses featuring Marvel favorites including Spider-Man, Captain America, and The Incredible Hulk. The glasses are sold at Spencer’s Gifts, HMV, Transworld, and more, with additional designs rolling out through the end of summer. Silver Buffalo and Vandor are the newest licensees added to the intergalactic Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy lineup. A line of drinkware will hit shelves this July, in time for the theatrical release of the film in August.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy arrives in theaters on August 1 of next year.
