Nelvana, Dark Horse Comics Enter Licensing Agreement for New Action Series Mysticons

Nelvana_DarkHorse_MysticonsCorus Entertainment’s Nelvana entered a licensing agreement with Dark Horse Comics. Dark Horse will produce a series of graphic novels based on Nelvana’s original animated action series, Mysticons. Set to be released next summer, the graphic novels follow four unexpected heroes who transform into legendary warriors and undertake a mythic quest to save the world.

Dark Horse’s Shantel LaRocque will act as editor on the Mysticons graphic novel series. Having previously worked on titles such as Hellboy, B.P.R.D., Fight Club 2, Rexodus, and David Mack’s Kabuki, LaRocque brings a knowledge of comics and genre fiction to the project. Nelvana Extends Licensees for Super Wings

In addition, a new weekday timeslot was secured for the preschool series on the Gullidoo children’s programming block on France’s Gulli last month. Super Wings also airs on Piwi+.
Nelvana signed 15 new consumer products agreements for Super Wings, including: master toy licensee Auldey; AD global for toys and accessories; ATM for back-to-school; Bon Bon for confectionery; Canal Toys for arts and crafts; Chauss Europ for footwear; Clementoni for puzzles and games; D’Arpeje for wheeled toys; Dekora for cake decorations; Famosa for ride-ons; Biochi Preziosi for balls and educational and electronic games; Hemma for publishing; Pik and Roll for bicycles; Play By Play for plush; and Sun City for apparel.

Nelvana Expands Shopkins Brand

Nelvana will introduce Shopkins merchandise to Russian consumers via Megalicense International, a recent sub-agent for the brand in Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States, Ukraine, and the Baltic nations of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Nelvana, Disney Channels Worldwide Sign Deal for Polly and the ZhuZhu Pets TV Series

PollyandtheZhuZhuPetsNelvana licensed the multi-territory broadcast and on-demand rights for Polly and the ZhuZhu Pets to Disney Channels Worldwide.

The TV series is set to air on Disney Channel in the U.S. on Sept. 12, followed by Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Sub-Saharan Africa. Corus Entertainment’s Canadian premiere date will be announced at a later date.

Little Charmers’ Licensing Program Continues to Grow Across Toy Categories

The newly signed partners include Stoneridge Cycle Ltd. for bicycles, scooters, skateboards, inline skates, and protective gear in Canada; Pamson Pacific Enterprises for outdoor seasonal toys; Primary Colors Corporation for cookies and fruit snacks; and MediBadge Inc. for stickers and sticker sets within the medical and financial institution channels.

These partners join a merchandising program led by master toy partner Spin Master, which recently released a collection aimed at kids ages 2 to 5, and includes mini figurines, plush, dolls, and role play.
