Nelvana Expands Shopkins Brand

Nelvana will introduce Shopkins merchandise to Russian consumers via Megalicense International, a recent sub-agent for the brand in Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States, Ukraine, and the Baltic nations of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. New licensees for Russia include AST Origami for board games and arts and crafts; AST Publishing for magazines; Perfetti for chocolate balls; Tarna Rosman for plush, party goods, art and crafts, and stationery; and Unitoys for card games. Little Charmers’ Licensing Program Continues to Grow Across Toy Categories

The newly signed partners include Stoneridge Cycle Ltd. for bicycles, scooters, skateboards, inline skates, and protective gear in Canada; Pamson Pacific Enterprises for outdoor seasonal toys; Primary Colors Corporation for cookies and fruit snacks; and MediBadge Inc. for stickers and sticker sets within the medical and financial institution channels.

These partners join a merchandising program led by master toy partner Spin Master, which recently released a collection aimed at kids ages 2 to 5, and includes mini figurines, plush, dolls, and role play.

Nelvana and Sony Pictures Animation Partner for Hotel Transylvania TV Series

HotelTransylvaniaCorus Entertainment’s Nelvana will develop an animated TV series based on the film, Hotel Transylvania, from Sony Pictures Animation, slated to launch in 2017.

Produced by Nelvana Studio in Toronto, the series will focus on the teenage years of Dracula’s daughter, Mavis, and her friends as they take on new adventures.

Super Wings Merchandise Flies into North America

superwingsCorus Entertainment’s Nelvana Enterprises has signed a deal with CJ E&M, Asia’s No. 1 entertainment and media company, to represent the North American merchandise licensing rights for the preschool series, Super Wings. Nelvana will represent Super Wings in all merchandise categories with the exception of toys, which will be distributed by Auldey Toys North America in the U.S., and Imports Dragon in Canada.

Super Wings, co-produced by FunnyFlux Entertainment has aired in more than 40 countries worldwide. In the U.S., Super Wings currently airs on Sprout, and the series will launch on Canada’s preschool network, Treehouse this fall.

Super Wings follows the adventures of Jett, a jet plane who travels around the world delivering packages to kids with his group of airplane friends, the Super Wings. The Super Wings have the ability to transform into heroes who can run, climb, dig, and swim.

eOne Names Nelvana Exclusive Licensing and Branding Agent for Peppa Pig in Canada

Peppa Pig logoEntertainment One (eOne), co-owners and worldwide distributors of global preschool property Peppa Pig, has named Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana, a worldwide children’s entertainment producer and distributor, as the property’s exclusive licensing and branding agent in Canada. Peppa Pig, which airs weekdays on Treehouse in Canada, will expand its footprint in North America with a consumer products initiative set to roll out to mass market stores across the region in fall of next year.

Nelvana’s Little Charmers App Hits No. 1 on iTunes

LittleCharmersSparkleUpLittle Charmers: Sparkle Up, from Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana, has secured the No. 1 spot for downloaded iPad apps in the iTunes App Store across the U.S. and Canada. The app is free to download on tablets and smartphones, and will become available on Amazon and Google Play in July.

Based on the Little Charmers animated preschool series, which launched in January, the app immerses users in a magical world where they can cast spells to transform their surroundings and create images to save, print, and share with friends.

Little Charmers is produced by Nelvana and Spin Master.

Nelvana Adds Licensees for Little Charmers

Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana has added five softlines licensees to its growing roster partners for Little Charmers. The Bentex Group, with its Extreme Concepts, Dreamwave, and H.I.S. International divisions, has been appointed as the master apparel licensee; SG Companies for footwear; Franco Manufacturing for juvenile bed and bath; and Fantasia Accessories Ltd. for jewelry, hair accessories, headwear, hand wear, and rainwear.

Production and master toy partner Spin Master will launch their Little Charmers toy collection this fall. The full line includes mini figurines, plush, dolls, and role play for kids ages 2 to 5.

Previously announced licensees include Scholastic, Rubie’s Costume Co., Baby Boom Consumer Products, and Bakery Crafts.

Corus Entertainment, Disney ABC Television Group Team Up in Licensing Agreement

Corus Entertainment Inc. has signed a long-term licensing agreement with the Disney ABC Television Group. Under the terms of the agreement, Corus secures English- and French-language rights to Disney Channel‘s content and becomes steward of the brand with the launch of Disney Channel in Canada.

Scheduled to debut on September 1, 2015, Disney Channel will give Canadian kids and families full access to Disney Channel’s slate of shows, such as K.C. Undercover, Girl Meets World, Austin & Ally, and Liv and Maddie. The agreement also includes authenticated simultaneous streaming and ad-supported video-on-demand rights for select programs airing on the channel. Following the launch of Disney Channel in the fall, select Disney-branded kids’ linear TV offerings will also be rolled out in the future as those brands and programming are transitioned to Corus.
