Genius Brands, Southwest Airlines Partner for Kids’ Entertainment Series on Flights Nationwide

GeniusBrands_ThomasEdisonSecretLabsGenius Brands International Inc. will add three of its animated series to Southwest Airline’s Wi-Fi- equipped inflight entertainment portal. Beginning this July, SpacePOP, Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab and Baby Genius will be available for the first time inflight on customer’s personal devices during travel.

Genius Brands content is designed to provide positive messages for young viewers. The new deal allows Southwest to expand upon its kid-friendly entertainment choices for families across the country that will be travelling this summer.

eOne’s Peppa Pig Takes Home Trio of Awards at Multimir Children’s Festival

PeppaPigEntertainment One (eOne)’s Peppa Pig won three awards at Multimir’s inaugural awards ceremony, which kicked off on May 31 and ran until June 4 in Moscow.

Technicolor Animation Productions, SIE, PGS Partner to Create Sly Cooper TV Series

SlyCooperTechnicolor Animation Productions and Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) partnered to create a computer-generated animated TV series based on the PlayStation videogame series Sly Cooper. Global distribution—along with licensing and merchandising rights—will be managed by PGS.

Sly Cooper follows the adventures of an irresistibly charismatic raccoon, a modern-day Robin Hood, who restores justice to his city one theft at a time. Sly is aided by his two best friends, a muscular hippo named Murray and a brainy turtle named Bentley. Hot on Sly’s trail is Inspector Carmelita Fox, a morally upright cop with an unfortunate crush on the charming bandit, as well as a band of villains.

 

Sunrights Inc. Extends Beyblade Burtst into Latin America

beyblade-burstSunrights Inc. will partner with Cartoon Network for season one of Beyblade Burst in Latin America. The series launched in June and airs on Fridays.

The animated series launched on Teletoon and Disney XD in Canada last fall, and on Disney XD in the U.S. last December. Beyblade Burst also airs in Australia on Channel Go! and the series will add broadcasters throughout Europe this year.

Televix is currently in negotiations to secure broadcast on Free TV and other platforms throughout Latin America, as well as licensing and merchandising deals in the region. The Beyblade Burst product line from Hasbro will hit the shelves in Latin America shortly after the broadcast launch.

eOne Extends PJ Masks Licensees with New Partners for Publishing, Paper Goods

40-17179-00-00eOne expanded partners for its preschool series PJ Masks, which airs daily on Disney Junior. Partners will launch a range of publishing products and paper goods that will be available at major national retailers in the U.S. and Canada this fall. The latest partners will expand on the collection from master publishing partner Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing.

Partners to launch products in the U.S. include Colorforms for reusable sticker sets and CSS for seasonal stationery exchange. Additionally, Parragon will feature a publishing collection and Redan will offer magazines in the U.S. and Canada.

Nelvana, Dark Horse Comics Enter Licensing Agreement for New Action Series Mysticons

Nelvana_DarkHorse_MysticonsCorus Entertainment’s Nelvana entered a licensing agreement with Dark Horse Comics. Dark Horse will produce a series of graphic novels based on Nelvana’s original animated action series, Mysticons. Set to be released next summer, the graphic novels follow four unexpected heroes who transform into legendary warriors and undertake a mythic quest to save the world.

Dark Horse’s Shantel LaRocque will act as editor on the Mysticons graphic novel series. Having previously worked on titles such as Hellboy, B.P.R.D., Fight Club 2, Rexodus, and David Mack’s Kabuki, LaRocque brings a knowledge of comics and genre fiction to the project. Ben 10 Makes Free-to-Air Broadcast Launch in the UK, New Merchandise Line to Debut

The new episodes of Ben 10 currently air on Cartoon Network in the UK. The terrestrial channel will now continue to air Ben 10 as part of its primetime line-up.

 The new Ben 10 series sees the energetic Ben Tennyson return in his original and favorite form, as a 10-year-old boy who transforms into aliens. PJMasksEntertainment One (eOne)’s preschool property PJ Masks expands its global footprint with merchandise launches throughout the Asia Pacific and Latin America regions, as well as new licensees in the UK and Australia.

Lead by master toy partner Just Play, the new merchandise will launch in the Asia Pacific region this June.
