Zag, Method Animation, and Planeta Junior (Planeta & DeAgostini Group) partnered for co-production on the development of five upcoming animated TV series under the Zag Heroez label.
The collaboration starts with two Zag Heroez animated series Power Players, which features a team of secret heroes formed by a boy and his toys, and Pixigirl, which tells the story of a super-heroine with the supernatural powers of Mother Nature who battles evil witches in New York. Hasbro Inc. was named global master toy licensee by Sutikki, the new kids and family division of Bento Box Entertainment. The line of toys will based on the new preschool series, Moon and Me from Andrew Davenport’s Foundling Bird.
Inspired by tales of toys that come to life when nobody is looking, Moon and Me is the comical story of a special friendship between two characters from completely different worlds. Thomas & Friends, from Mattel Inc., kicked off its first global brand campaign with a year-long marketing program, Set Friendship in Motion.
The campaign aims to help preschoolers strengthen friendship skills, such as collaboration, communication, sharing, manners, kindness, and the abilities to express and understand feelings and emotions. UK and LA based independent film and TV producer Komixx Entertainment Ltd. secured a development deal with BBC Worldwide for Stanley the Can-Do Hamster. The animated TV series is based on the Stanley picture books by children’s author and illustrator William Bee.
BBC Worldwide will be the executive producers on the animated series and have exclusive rights to all other IP business rights globally, including transmitting the series on their worldwide Cbeebies channels. Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana adds new consumer products partners in France for its animated series Super Wings. In addition, a new weekday timeslot was secured for the preschool series on the Gullidoo children’s programming block on France’s Gulli last month. Super Wings also airs on Piwi+.
Nelvana signed 15 new consumer products agreements for Super Wings, including: master toy licensee Auldey; AD global for toys and accessories; ATM for back-to-school; Bon Bon for confectionery; Canal Toys for arts and crafts; Chauss Europ for footwear; Clementoni for puzzles and games; D’Arpeje for wheeled toys; Dekora for cake decorations; Famosa for ride-ons; Biochi Preziosi for balls and educational and electronic games; Hemma for publishing; Pik and Roll for bicycles; Play By Play for plush; and Sun City for apparel.

Sprout will expand its growing original programming lineup with the addition of Remy and Boo. The series will premiere on Sprout next year.
Set in the near future, Remy and Boo is a CGI- animated series that tells the story of the friendship between five-year-old Remy and her newfound robot friend Boo, who is programmed to learn and feel real emotions. The show follows their journey of love, friendship, and what it truly means to be human.
Sprout also announced second seasons of two of its originals. Floogals will go into production with Nevision for a season 2 launch next year. The network will also move forward with Nina’s World with a season 2 greenlight for 26 new episodes. Read the rest of this entry »

As global master toy partner, Fisher-Price will create a broad range of preschool products in the toy category, including dolls and figures, play sets, plush, vehicles, technology and interactive toys, musical toys, role play, and more. Shout! Factory and DHX Media partnered to bring Gwen Stefani’s animated series Kuu Kuu Harajuku to the home entertainment marketplace in North America. The announcement was made by Shout! Factory’s founders Richard Foos, Bob Emmer, and Garson Foos, as well as Mark Shoeman, territory manager at DHX Media.
The multi-year partnership provides Shout! Factory with exclusive home entertainment distribution rights (DVD and Blu-ray) in the U.S. and Canada for all 26 episodes of Kuu Kuu Harajuku. Rollout will be made through Shout’s kids & family imprint, Shout! Factory Kids. Read the rest of this entry »
Rainbow Group’s Regal Academy will return to Nickelodeon, where it will continue to air new episodes from season one on Saturday mornings. Master toy partner The Alpha Group will release a full line of fashion dolls and play sets based on Regal Academy this fall. The line is designed for kids ages 5 and up and will debut at the North American International Toy Fair later this month.
Regal Academy follows Rose, the granddaughter of Cinderella, as she enters the Regal Academy and embarks on magical adventures with her classmates, who also have a fairytale heritage and belong to the school’s founding families. The series debuted on Nickelodeon last summer.
Entertainment One (eOne) appointed new partners for PJ Masks products across a range of toy and seasonal categories. The new items will begin to rollout at retail in April.
