DHX Media signed an exclusive deal with ZDF to launch season one of its new Teletubbies series on children’s channel KiKA in Germany. The launch builds on the original version of the preschool series that first aired in Germany in 1999.
The global licensing program for the new Teletubbies series is growing rapidly, with more than 85 partners signed to date. The series follows the same four characters and styling as the original show, but brings a contemporary look and feel to the preschool properties. The series has been picked up by 24 broadcasters worldwide, as well as Amazon Prime Video in the U.K., where the commissioning broadcaster is CBeebies.
Fisher-Price partnered with BabyFirst to produce short parenting tip videos that will premiere on the BabyFirst broadcast network and on both brand’s digital and social channels beginning on March 20.
The parenting tips series focuses on topics related to all aspects of development, including sleep and bedtime rituals, language skill development, achieving physical developmental milestones, as well as building emotional literacy. Read the rest of this entry »
Rubie’s Pet Shop Boutique, a division of Rubie’s Costume Co. Inc., will unveil new styles and licenses at the Global Pet Expo, which takes place from March 22 to the 24 in Orlando. With the addition of new costumes and accessories, Rubie’s Pet Shop Boutique will also debut new styles that include: Transformers, Barbie and My Little Pony.
This year, Rubie’s Pet Shop Boutiques will add new costumes for Star Wars, DC Comics, and Marvel licenses, as well as for seasonal holidays.
Rubie’s Pet Shop Boutique is located in Booth 4027 at Global Pet Expo at the Orange County Convention Center. Global Pet Expo is the pet industry’s largest annual trade show and is listed in Tradeshow Week 200.
Loot Crate announced the launch of Sports Crate and its first line of subscription products exclusively for baseball fans. This marks Loot Crate’s first move into the world of sports fandom. Sports Crate includes licenses from Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association, making it the Exclusive Subscription Box of MLB.
The new division of Loot Crate will initially launch with 10 teams, including the Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, New York Yankees, San Francisco Giants, St. Louis Cardinals, and Texas Rangers with exclusive apparel, collectibles, experiences, and more every month. Discovery Consumer Products and Uniqlo, a brand of Fast Retailing Co. Ltd., partnered for a new collection of unisex youth T-shirts. This marks the first global partnership between Uniqlo and Discovery Consumer Products and will be supported with a worldwide digital marketing campaign, in-store promotion, and cross promotion between the two brands. The International Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association (LIMA) planned a range of Licensing University sessions for Licensing Week 2017 that will cover the latest issues and trends and the fundamentals of how the licensing business works. Licensing University takes place from May 22 to 25 at Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. Following the announcement that CPLG will represent the Parental Advisory brand, the first wave of market leading licensees will include Trademark, Misirli, and Brand Clothing International.
Branded Clothing International will feature a line of nightwear and kids wear with the brand logo. Trademark will produce a range of apparel that includes tops, sweatshirts, hoodies, joggers, leggings, dresses, and bags. Misirli will have a range of socks and hosiery. All three partners will launch in product this spring and summer.
Gaumont optioned the global rights to Neal Shusterman’s epic trilogy, The Star Shards Chronicles, for development as an animated series. The author of more than 30 award-winning books, Shusterman’s novels have been translated into more than 20 languages.
The trilogy features six ordinary kids conceived at the same instant that a star exploded light-years away, transforming their souls into living star fragments and causing them to receive extraordinary powers. As they struggle to discover the source of their supernatural afflictions, they learn that only by finding one another will they be strong enough to defeat the mysterious sources that are attacking them. Julian Stone will serve as an executive producer on the new animated project.
Roblox announced the closing of a $92 million investment, which will be put toward enhancing the platform’s infrastructure and recruiting talent. The new funding follows the company’s rebranding and an online to offline expansion with a first-ever user-generated toy line from Jazwares.
The Roblox and Jazwares toy line will feature popular user-generated characters. The line is available at Toys “R” Us, additional retailers, and online at www.roblox.com and www.jazwares.com. The deal marks the beginning of an offline strategy that will bring Roblox to retail.
