ReedPOP and The Brooklyn Brewery to Launch Exclusive Beer for New York Comic ConDollhouse

ReedPOP and The Brooklyn Brewery have collaborated on Brooklyn Defender, an American Black Ale specifically created for this year’s New York Comic Con (NYCC). The addition to the Brooklyn Brewery roster has a dark malt visage and a hoppy finish that will protect the city from the scourge of tasteless beers.
The Brooklyn Defender will be introduced at a special release party on September 21 and then make its’ way to select bars and restaurants citywide.

Dolphin Entertainment and Mattel to Develop Max Steel Film

Dolphin Entertainment and Mattel Inc. have partnered to develop a live-action, feature-length film, Max Steel, based on Mattel’s franchise of the same name. The film will be produced by Dolphin Films and distributed in the U.S. by Open Road Films, with a wide release in theaters in fourth quarter of next year.

Created by Mattel, the Max Steel franchise spans multi-platform entertainment, toys, and consumer products. The film will introduce audiences to the world of Max Steel, in which teenager Maxwell McGrath and alien companion Steel combine special powers to generate superhero Max Steel. Bill O’Dowd and Julia Pistor will produce the film.

Activision’s Call of Duty and Eminem Come Together for Ultimate Fan Offer

Activistion’s Call of Duty: Ghosts and music icon, Eminem’s new The Marshall Mathers LP 2 will both drop on November 5. In collaboration with GameStop, consumers who pre-orders Call of Duty: Ghosts at GameStop will get his or her copy at the launch, which will include a code to download a special edition of The Marshall Mathers LP 2, featuring the track “Survival” and a bonus studio track, for $8.99. The ongoing collaboration between Activision and Eminem will continue later this month with a music video trailer featuring “Survival” and Call of Duty: Ghosts, and will extend throughout the launch of the title. The offer is redeemable through November 19.

Big Tent Entertainment Announces New Domo Deals

Big Tent Entertainment is set to expand the Domo universe with two long-term deals creating new ways for fans to engage with the brand. SkinIt will feature Domo on vinyl skins for smart phones, tablets, gaming devices, laptops and more. Magnote will launch a series of branded puzzles and games, including sticky notes, magnetic desk puzzles, Gigo blocks, and Manga tracing templates. All products will be available in the U.S., U.S. territories, and Canada.

WBCP, The Blonds Partner for Tweety Haute Couture

Warner Bros. Consumer Products has partnered with high-fashion label The Blonds for a new collection inspired by Tweety. The new collection, Tweety: The Original Blonde, joins the ranks of other Blond collaborations, such as Barbie, as well as the entertainers that The Blonds dress for live performances, including Beyonce, Lady Gaga, and Katy Perry.

41 Entertainment Signs International Partners for Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures

Dollhouse41 Entertainment announced its secured licensees in Mexico and Latin America for the Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures property. In Mexico, Photo Pack has licensed backpacks; tote bags; lunch boxes; computer bags; and accessories for laptops, tablets and iPads. Lucky Clover has licensed stationery products, including pens, pencils, folders, erasers, crayon, cases, rulers, sharpeners, scissors, diaries, banks, and accessories. IFCO has secured a license for caps, wallets, and bags. Tycoon Enterprises, 41 Entertainment’s agent in Mexico, secured the deals.
In Latin America, Dreamkyds has secured rights for backpacks, T-shirts, sweatshirts, pajamas, underwear, swimwear, socks, stationery items, umbrellas, key chains, caps, beanies, Frisbees, drinking bottles, inflatable balls, and footwear. Televix Entertainment and CPL, 41 Entertainment’s agent in Latin America, secured the agreement.

Spencer’s, FCP Launch Sons of Anarchy Merchandise Program

DollhouseSpencer’s has partnered with Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products (FCP) to launch the Sons of Anarchy merchandise program. Spencer’s will carry apparel, accessories, novelty items, and more, and will host an online sweepstakes that will offer entrants the chance to win an authentic Sons of Anarchy prize pack. Available now in more than 625 stores, the merchandise will get fans geared up in time for the Sons of Anarchy season six premiere, which is set to air on September 10 on FX. Products will include T-shirts, jewelry, hats, drinkware, loungewear, backpacks, wallets, and more. Spencer’s boutiques will feature in-store branding through window displays, digital signage, and in-store elements that offer an immersive shopping experience for customers.

Jeep Xtreme Performance to Launch at Outdoor Industry Summer Market

Jeep Xtreme Performance (JXP) brand’s new collection of authentic outdoor apparel and gear will make its North American debut at the Outdoor Industry Summer Market. The JXP line was created to provide a distinctive line of high performance apparel and gear across a variety of outdoor activities, ranging from high-altitude trail running to mud-soaked mountain biking. The campaign is a global initiative first introduced internationally this year by licensee Beyond the Clouds.

Tickety Toc Toy Line Launches Exclusively at Toys “R” Us

The first toy range based on the Nick Jr. preschool series from Zodiak Kids, Tickety Toc, has come to Toys “R” Us exclusively in the U.S.
Starring twins Tommy and Tallulah, and featuring all of the show’s friends, the new Tickety Toc toy line, from Just Play, comes with interactive trains and play sets, talking dolls and plush, collectible figurines, and more, and is now available only at Toys “R” Us stores in the nationwide and online at

Henson Acquires Elias for Brand Potential

DollhouseElias, the little rescue boat that first gained popularity as a children’s picture book in Norway, is set to become a global children’s entertainment brand under Henson Independent Properties (HIP), The Jim Henson Co.’s third-party media distribution and licensing banner, which has recently acquired from both the media distribution rights of the all-new series Elias: Rescue Team Adventures and global consumer products rights to the Elias property from Animando in Norway. 
The Company will debut 52 x 11-minute episodes of the CGI-animated preschool series, Elias: Rescue Team Adventures, currently in production at Caoz Animation in Iceland, at MIP Jr. This new series is a follow-up to the successful original series and movies. HIP’s consumer products team will unveil the property to the international licensing community at Brand Licensing Expo in London in October.

Care Bears Dominates Down Under with New Partnership in Australia

AGP, the intellectual property and outbound licensing division of American Greetings Corp., has further grown the Care Bears brand in Australia. AGP’s multi-platform campaign will introduce a new line of stationery, accessories, housewares, and showbags along with entertainment opportunities, including a new TV series, Welcome to Care-a-Lot. AGP’s licensing agent Wild Pumpkin secured the deal.

The New York Botanical Garden Partners with Keeco

The New York Botanical Garden has partnered with Keeco, a leading home textiles manufacturer, to develop a licensed line of bedding and bath products. The launch will include a full assortment of linens for the bedroom, including quilts, duvets, and comforter sets with coordinating decorative pillows to debut at the New York Home Textiles Market in September. The full collection will be available next spring. Jewel Branding & Licensing, the licensing agency for The New York Botanical Garden, brokered the partnership.

CandyRific Launches Lalaloopsy Novelties

CandyRific has created Lalaloopsy novelty items including a Lalaloopsy Candy Purse and a Lalaloopsy Character Fan.
CandyRific sells candy and novelty product combinations utilizing popular licensed brands. Brands in CandyRific’s portfolio include M&M’S, Skittles, Starburst, Disney, Scooby-Doo, and Dreamworks.


Plants vs. Zombies Hits 25M Downloads

Plants vs. Zombies 2 has now been downloaded nearly 25 million times, making it EA’s most successful game to date.
“We are grateful and delighted with the incredible reception Plants vs. Zombies 2 has received from consumers around the globe,” said Tony Leamer, franchise business director for Plants vs. Zombies. “We certainly had high hopes for the game, but to see fans playing the game so quickly and in such huge numbers is truly amazing.”
The licensing program is growing strongly for this property. Rob Corney, Managing Director of Bulldog Licensing, commented: “It’s a real privilege to work with such great creative talent as the team at PopCap. Laura Ashley Range Hits Boots

SLG and Laura Ashley have combined forces to create the first Boots-exclusive range of Laura Ashley toiletry products. This collaboration combines two fragrances with two Laura Ashley prints.
SLG has focused on product offer and quality for this range. “All formulations feel luxurious and beautiful, thanks to beneficial ingredients such as Vitamin E, Pomegranate and Liquorice Root Extract that soften, smooth, brighten and revive the skin. My Cat Pip Book Success Boosts Pre-school Licensing Program

DollhouseJELC will continue to expand the licensing program for My Cap Pip toward to preschool children. This follows the launch of My Cat Pip as a children’s publishing brand in the UK.
The books from Hodder Children’s Books include Where are You Pip?, two sticker books Showtime Pip! and Purrfect Pip!, and a lift-the-flap book Pip, Pip, Hooray!.

Bell & Boo Sign Deal with Japanese Licensing Agent Cosmo Merchandising

Cosmo Merchandising has signed with Belle & Boo to produce plush products, stationery goods, and other paper products.
Belle & Boo is established in the UK in more than 300 retailers and has several licensing partners. Through licensees and products manufactured in-house, the company offers a wide range of gift and lifestyle products with a focus on high quality gifts and homewares. This includes art prints, cushions, melamine sets, stationery, greetings cards, and high-end clothing.
Belle & Boo is seeking worldwide licensing partners that can build the brand in their own markets, offering the same broad range of high quality merchandise.

Fashion Lab Signs for Sooty Apparel

Fashion Lab has been named as the new apparel licensee for the British brand Sooty. Fashion Lab has secured a three-year deal as the apparel licensee for The Sooty Show covering all apparel categories from newborn through to adult.
Sooty and his friends Sweep and Soo can be seen in their current TV home, The Sooty Show. Re-energized by the new owner of Sooty, Richard Cadell, in partnership with Redan Alchemy, The Sooty Show airs on CITV and is beginning its second series in the UK this September, while the first series is set to launch in the U.S. and Canada, strengthening its international reach.

Everything’s Rosie App Announced

V&S Entertainment, the producer and licensor of Everything’s Rosie, has appointed Daredevil Development Ltd., to produce a gaming app for the preschool animation series across mobile, smartphone, and tablet devices. 
The agreement, brokered by Peahen Games, is recognition of the growing importance of multi-media platforms. David Mowbray at Daredevil Development comments, “The very essence of Rosie and her friends’ adventures combines learning with laughter and this is very easily translatable into fun and educational apps.”
Vickie Corner, managing director of V&S Entertainment, added,  “Daredevil offer the very best in pre-school games and we are delighted to be partnering with them in the exciting and continually evolving app market place.  We are thrilled that they will be creating a cutting edge app which Rosie’s young fans will enjoy.”

Horrid Henry Teams Up with H. Grossman

DollhouseNovel Entertainment has signed a deal with global toy wholesaler H. Grossman to produce a range of products based on the Horrid Henry brand. Horrid Henry is an animated children’s TV show in the UK and continues to roll out further worldwide. H. Grossman will produce toys, scooters, bikes, skateboards, camping equipment, and pocket-money toys, including whoopee cushions, yo-yos, and bubble guns.

ITV Studios Signs with University Games for Matt Hatter Chronicles

DollhouseITV Studios Global Entertainment has signed a deal with University Games to produce a range of games based on Platinum Films’ animated series Matt Hatter Chronicles. University Games’ new line based on the dimension-hopping young hero will span traditional and electronic board games and travel games.

Imira and TVE Sign Deal

Imira Entertainment has signed a deal with Spanish broadcaster TVE to represent a library of its original and co-produced content for international distribution. Imira will launch this catalogue along with several other properties at this year’s Mipcom.
The catalogue includes a range of kids’ entertainment content for kids ages 4 to 12, including The Lunnis, Asha, Club Pizzicato, and its spin-off series Pizzicato and Leonart.

Cut the Rope Goes Back to School in Spain

Cut the Rope has been selected as a core back-to-school feature brand by El Corte Ingles, the Iberian department store.
From August 19 through September 22, the brand will be featured in all 85 El Corte Ingles stores with additional in-store displays in the kids’ fashion, back-to-school, and publishing departments. Moreover, Cut the Rope collectible Nommies and toys are exclusively on offer at 12 El Corte Ingles stores.

Carrefour Turns Blue for Smurfs 2

Until the end of September, 37 Carrefour hypermarkets in Italy will be running tailored promotions around the Smurfs 2, due out in Italy on September 19.
Backstage Licensing has built this program, where all Smurfs products will be showcased in preferred areas on shelves and will benefit from high visibility through banners and POP materials.
The operation will be supported by a communication campaign that started on August 29 with a dedicated space on Carrefour “Sottocosto” leaflet distributed in 3 million copies nationwide and the promotion of the initiative on Carrefour official website through its newsletter, which boasts 1.5 million subscribers.

Rovio Builds on Angry Birds Learning Program

Rovio Entertainment has announced its Angry Birds Playground learning concept, which is a new export title built on the Finnish educational expertise. The program is based on, but not limited to, the Finnish National Curriculum for Kindergarten. In addition, Rovio has entered into a preliminary agreement with 123 Education Development Ltd. in China.
“The concept allows children to experience learning in a fun way. It has been scientifically studied and proven in cooperation with the University of Helsinki, Cicero Learning Network – making education both engaging and inspiring,” says Sanna Lukander, vice president of learning and book publishing at Rovio.
“What if learning was fun? That was the question we asked ourselves when we started to develop this exciting new concept. Having seen the enthusiasm when children and parents spend time with Angry Birds, we wanted to create fun new learning activities for them,” says Peter Vesterbacka, mighty eagle and CMO at Rovio.

Rizon Secures UK and Ireland Rights to Subway Surfers

Rizon Studios Licensing has secured the UK and Ireland rights to represent Subway Surfers. Developed by SYBO Games and distributed by Kiloo, Subway Surfers is one of the top three most played apps in the world and has exceeded 250 million downloads since launching last year.
Throughout this year, Subway Surfers is embarking on a World Tour. Each month, users can visit an exciting new destination with featured cities, to-date including New York, Tokyo, Sydney, and Paris. The vibrant animated in-game scenes are transformed to reflect the dynamic environment and users can meet a new character in every city.

Warner Bros. Brings Brands to Life in Playground

Warner Bros. Consumer Products UK (WBCP UK) has unveiled images of the UK’s first DC Super Friends and Looney Tunes playground, developed in collaboration with licensee Park Leisure.
The New Tredegar community partnership commissioned the new playground, named Diamond Park, from Park Leisure, which designed, manufactured, and installed the equipment, working closely with WBCP UK. The playground has been divided into branded play zones featuring a range of activities that reflect the essence of the characters. Equipment includes a Batman Cyclone, which displays the iconic Bat Signal; Batmobile and Jokermobile Springers; a Batman and Batgirl Kidabout; a Superman climbing frame and slide; a Looney Tunes Chase Unit; and a Tweety and Sylvester Spring See Saw.


Cartoon Network’s Amazone Gearing up in Thailand

Cartoon Network Amazone in Thailand has reached a construction milestone recently with the completion of Humungaslide, the high-speed water coaster based on the Ben 10 alien, Humungousaur.
Humungaslide is part of The Omniverse, one of 10 themed zones at Cartoon Network Amazone, the world’s first Cartoon Network waterpark. Located in coastal Bang Saray, Thailand, it is set to open in the first half of next year.
Liakat Dhanji, chairman and CEO of Amazon Falls Co. Ltd., the developer of the water park, said, “Cartoon Network Amazone is the first internationally branded water park for Thailand, which means it will instantly put the country on the global theme park map. We’re proud to be bringing the vibrantly animated world of Cartoon Network to the people of Thailand and visitors from around the world. It’s the number one kids’ channel in Asia Pacific, and now fans are going to get to experience all its incredible series and characters in ways they never dreamed.”

LIMA Sponsors China’s Brand Licensing Hall

LIMA will sponsor Brand Licensing Hall, mainland China’s licensing event and largest licensing exposition, which is held concurrently with China Toy Expo and China Kids Expo. These three events organized by the TJPA, are expected to attract nearly 70,000 visitors, providing buyers with a wide range of sourcing opportunities in licensing, toys, and baby products.
The show will take place at the Shanghai New International Expo Center from October 15 to 17 and will feature more than 600 of the world’s most popular licensing brands in the U.S., including Disney, Marvel, Transformers, Barbie, Angry Birds, Thomas & Friends, SpongeBob Squarepants, and Paul Frank. Brands headed to China from the UK include Manchester United, Teletubbies, In The Night Garden, Shaun the Sheep, and Vandal.


SLR Productions Greenlights Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs

The animated series, Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs, has been green-lit for production as Australia’s SLR Productions has signed a deal with local broadcast partner Nine Network, along with international partners, ZDF Enterprises, Telegael, and Top Draw Animation. The series is based on the award-winning picture book by author/illustrator duo, Giles Andreae and Russell Ayto.
