  Frito Lay and Activision Partner for Skylanders Giants

PepsiCo's Frito-Lay North American division and Activision Publishing Inc. have launched a summer promotion for Skylanders Giants. The promotion includes the free Skylanders Giants In-Store Adventure mobile app, which is available for download on iOS and Android devices. Once downloaded, users can scan in-store barcode headers and special-edition Frito–Lay variety packs to see a Skylanders Giants character appear on their mobile device.

Players can also obtain limited-edition Skylanders Giants Sidekicks figures by purchasing specially–marked Frito-Lay 20–count variety packs and entering the in-pack code online. Four different figures that are compatible with the Skylanders Giants video game are available through this offer.

When shoppers use the app to scan all three Frito–Lay and Skylanders Giants in-store displays, they'll unlock additional interactive content. The promotion will end on September 2.

  The Entertainer Appoints Click as Exclusive Trading Card Supplier

The Entertainer, the UK multichannel toy retailer, has appointed Click Distribution UK as its exclusive supplier of trading cards, trading card games, and sticker collections.

Effective today, this deal sees the two companies coming together with Click Distribution UK exclusively supplying some of the most popular collectable brands to The Entertainer's network of 83 stores and it's award-winning online portal Thetoyshop.com.

The first products to launch at The Entertainer this summer will be Panini's sticker collections for Disney Pixar's Monster's University and the new Disney film Planes that opens at cinemas in the UK on August 16. The Entertainer will also offer One Direction Beats. Products based upon the social networking and gaming site Bin Weevils and the official 2014 FIFA World Cup sticker collection from Panini will also be stocked at stores nationwide.

  Spin Master Entertainment Launches its First Preschool Animated Series, Paw Patrol

Spin Master Entertainment, in association with Nickelodeon, launches its first solely–owned intellectual property, Paw Patrol. Paw Patrol, based on a concept by Keith Chapman (Bob the Builder), with animation from Guru Studio (The Backyardigans and Justin Time), is set to premiere August 12 on Nickelodeon in the U.S., followed by the Canadian premiere on TVO and Knowledge Network on September 2. The series will begin airing on Nickelodeon's international channels in the fall.

Paw Patrol is a CGI–animated series starring a pack of six heroic puppies—Chase, Marshall, Rocky, Rubble, Zuma, and Skye—led by a tech–savvy, 10–year–old boy named Ryder. The series focuses on citizenship, social skills, and problem solving. The Paw Patrol work together to protect the Adventure Bay community believing that "No job is too big, no pup is too small!"

Spin Master owns the worldwide toy rights for the brand and is responsible for producing and distributing Paw Patrol in Canada through broadcast partners TVO and Knowledge Network. Nickelodeon has licensed the global (excluding Canada) distribution rights for the show on behalf of Viacom International, as well as ancillary exploitation rights including licensing and merchandising.

  The Gruffalo In Deal With Sainsbury's

Magic Light Pictures and The Licensing Company have signed an exclusive direct-to-retail agreement with Sainsbury's on The Gruffalo, The Gruffalo's Child and Room on the Broom across apparel, toys and gifting. Under this new deal, Sainsbury's will be the only supermarket brand in the UK to design and retail their own ranges of Gruffalo merchandise.

Daryl Shute, Brand Director, Magic Light Pictures says: "This deal with Sainsbury's is a very exciting opportunity for our family brands. Developing high quality, imaginative products has always been at the heart of the programme and this partnership will see fantastic new clothing and general merchandise ranges with a leading UK retailer. The Gruffalo/Sainsbury's collaboration is a perfect pairing and with this magnificent DTR deal we're guaranteeing something new and exclusive for customers over the coming years."

  AG Properties Launches New Care Bears Pet Accessories

AG Properties and licensee Fetch for Pets are set to launch a range of Care Bears pet accessories in the U.S. The line will include collars, leashes, chew toys, squeaker toys, and aquarium products for dogs and cats. The pet accessories will be available in pet specialty retailers nationwide next year.

  Disney Reveals Top Christmas Toys

Disney ran a Christmas in July event and showcased its top predictions for the holiday season. Members of the media were shown a Toy Box installation, within which Disney Infinity videos were shown, as well as a demonstration of games from the creators. More than 100 Christmas products were on display, under the themes Disney Dozen, Gifts for Girls, Gifts for Boys, Gifts To Share Together, Gifts For Mom, Gifts For Dad, Stocking Fillers, My First Christmas, and Party Wear.

Products included a Tinker Bell nightdress, an Iron Man T–shirt, as well as the Dirty Dozen—a selection of top toys for the season—including, Disney Infinity, Scare Me Sulley Soft Toy, and Doc McStuffin's Talking Doll.

  Zodiak Kids Partners with Komar for Tickety Toc Sleepwear

Zodiak Kids has appointed Komar to create a range of sleepwear for Tickety Toc, the preschool show currently airing on Nick Jr. Komar will create Tickety Toc sleepwear for boys and girls, including pajamas, nightgowns, sleep pants, blanket sleepers, and robes. Product will launch at all channels of distribution next spring.

  Studio 100 Promotes Evy Van Nederkassel

Studio 100 has announced the promotion of Evy Van Nederkassel to licensing and sales manager CEE, Nordics and Israel.

Reporting to Marie–Laure Marchand, international licensing director of Studio 100 International, the newly created international licensing and merchandising division within the Studio 100 Group, Nederkassel is now responsible for initiating and implementing consumer products activities across these territories (excluding home entertainment). Nederkassel is supported in her tasks by Licensing Coordinator Manuela Van der Maas.

A Studio 100 veteran of 11 years, Nederkassel first joined the company in 2002. Her new role will see her developing a direct relationship with licensees and distribution partners in Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro, Bulgaria, Romania as well as Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark and Iceland. CEE as an emerging market is a key territory for the Studio 100 Group, especially for Maya the Bee.

  Ommegang, HBO Announce Second Game of Thrones–Inspired Beer

Brewery Ommegang and HBO will launch the second beer in the Game of Throne series, Take the Black Stout, nationwide through bars, restaurants, grocery, and beverage stores at the end of September. The brew was inspired by the series' Night's Watch, a military order that holds and guards The Wall, an ice fortification protecting the Seven Kingdoms from enemies in the North. The label features the Weirwood tree where Jon Snow and other followers take their oaths to the Night's Watch.

Take the Black Stout is deep black in hue with a full tan head. Aromas include dark chocolate, caramel malt, earthy hops, and a touch of fruitiness. Tastes include chocolate, dark coffee, and rich malt. The beer has a light, roasted aroma and taste.

The beer will be available nationally on draft and in 750–mililiter bottles, beginning in mid–to–late September, and will be followed by additional beers next year.

  CopCorp Appoints Happy Kids for Pink Cookie

CopCorp Licensing has announced that Happy Kids, the new children's apparel division of Accessory Zone, has been granted the rights to produce and sell Pink Cookie Apparel for girls and Crusade Apparel for boys.

"We are thrilled to be able to launch Happy Kids branded Girl's & Boy's Apparel with Pink Cookie and Crusade—successful fashion brands that our company already knows well and has such confidence in," says Accessory Zone President Mark J. Benun.

"Mark Benun brings such vast experience in Boy's & Girl's clothing to Accessory Zone that—when he approached us about giving Happy Kids the apparel rights for Pink Cookie and Crusade—we didn't have to think twice to know they'd be the right partner," says Carole Postal, President of CopCorp.

  SPCP Set to Launch The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones-Inspired Products

Sony Pictures Consumer Products and Bioworld Europe have partnered with Rakuten's Play.com to launch the destination store for The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones in the UK. The shop will contain products inspired from the movie from licensed partners, including Flash Trash, Bioworld Europe, Laurelle London, Mantiburi, Simon and Schuster, Walker Books, Pyramid Posters, Urban Species, Universal Music, and Underground Toys. Products include fashion apparel, accessories, jewelry, Clary's signature messenger bag, wall art décor, artifacts from the film, stickers, tattoos, perfume, publishing, stickers, gifts, and collectibles.

  Licensing Program for City of Friends Grows

CreaCon Group, the Norwegian children's entertainment production company, continues to build the licensing program for City of Friends after signing toy partner Top Toy Hong Kong Ltd. and new licensees and products across DVD, publishing, and CD categories.

CreaCon and Top Toy have agreed a long–term collaboration which will see Top Toy create, produce and distribute a range of City of Friends toys in the German and Nordic markets. The first toys will launch at retail in Top Toy–owned–and–licensed Toys "R" Us and BR-Store chains and independent toy stores this fall. The new range will include the popular scooter character from the City of Friends TV series—Scoot, as well as bedding, lunch boxes, and drink bottles. Top Toy's City of Friends toy range will complement the range of vehicles, figurines, and plush created by CreaCon's existing Nordic toy partner TSI, which is also launching this fall.

CreaCon has also signed a DVD distribution deal with Lace Digital Media Sales for City of Friends in the UK, and has inked a deal with Signature Publishing to publish City of Friends features and games in every issue of its UK monthly preschool compilation magazine Fantastic Magazine.

  Hallmark Unveils So So Happy Cards and Products

Hallmark has signed with Entertainment One for a line of So So Happy cards, party supplies, and gifts aimed at encouraging love, acceptance, and positivity among children. The line includes more than 20 cards for the beginning of the school year and birthdays, journals, tote bags, photo frames, buttons, purse notes, and stickers. The products are available at Hallmark Gold Crown stores and participating Hallmark retailers nationwide, including Walmart, Walgreen's, and CVS.

  Disney's Planes Fly Into Product

Disney Consumer Products (DCP) has announced the product collection inspired by Disneytoon Studios' latest feature, Planes, with products that leverage technology and interactivity from Disney Store and top toy companies, including Mattel, Thinkway Toys, and more.

Products include tracks for side–by–side racing, stunts and launchers that send planes up into the air, remote control planes, and a programmable joystick. An exclusive collection from Disney Store and DisneyStore.com, as well as an assortment of fashion, home décor, lifestyle and publishing products, rounds out the collection.

"Disney Consumer Products' Disney's Planes collection delivers on interactivity and fun with products that tie into classic boys' play patterns and their love for vehicles," said Josh Silverman, executive vice president global licensing, Disney Consumer Products. "There's also something for collectors with an all–new assortment of diecast featuring key Disney's Planes characters."

  The Smurfs 2 Smurftacular Merchandise Available for Purchase

The Smurfs 2, from Sony Pictures Animation and Columbia Pictures, released in theaters yesterday. Retail promotions and in–store activations have been launched at retailers, including PetSmart, Macy's, It'Sugar, Toys "R" Us, Build–a–Bear Workshop, Claire's, and Walmart.

  9 Story in Agreement with CCI Kids

9 Story Entertainment has announced the closing of its agreement with CCI Kids, the family content division of CCI Entertainment, under which 9 Story has acquired the underlying rights to CCI Kids' owned children's and family library. Under the terms of the agreement, 9 Story has also gained distribution rights for CCI Releasing's other titles in the kids and family genre, totaling more than 1,000 half–hours of content.

With this expansion, Natalie Osborne has been promoted to Managing Director of the company's distribution division, 9 Story Enterprises, and will continue to report to Vince Commisso, President and CEO, 9 Story Entertainment.

"This acquisition has more than doubled our portfolio, strengthened our sales capabilities and enhanced our overall position for digital platforms," said Vince Commisso, President and CEO of 9 Story Entertainment. "As part of this expansion, we are thrilled to promote Natalie to the newly created position of Managing Director. Natalie has been instrumental in 9 Story's growth and we are confident she will continue to build on this success and take the company to even greater heights."

  Genius Brands Signs Graphicly for Digital Adaptation of Baby Genius

Genius Brands International Inc. has signed an agreement with Graphicly to adapt the entire library of Baby Genius books for distribution throughout the digital marketplace. Graphicly will transform 20 Baby Genius titles into new formats for release across most digital platforms and e–book stores, including iOS and Android devices. The library includes Baby Genius sing–a–long board books, which encourage parents and children to sing together as they follow fun and educational stories.

  Jeffrey Katzenberg Named MIPCOM Personality of the Year

Entertainment Executive and CEO of DreamWorks Animation Jeffrey Katzenberg has been named MIPCOM 2013 Personality of the Year. Katzenberg will accept the award on October 9 during a gala dinner for industry executives at the Carlton Hotel in Cannes. The same day, he will address the MIPCOM audience in the Palais des Festival's Grand Auditorium and share his unique perspectives on the TV business as part of MIPCOM's Media Mastermind series of presentations.

Organized by Reed MIDEM, MIPCOM will take place in Cannes, France from October 7 to 10.

  Rai in Deal for Amita of the Jungle

Lástrego & Testa Multimedia have signed a co–production agreement with RAI Fiction for the third season of the series Amita of the Jungle (26x7), adding to the 52 episodes of the first and second seasons. This will be added to the 52 of the first (2009) and second season (2012). Amita of the jungle is an animated series for children ages 4 to 7. The series is realized in digital cut out, but the characters are painted by hand using a watercolor technique.

  Shout! Factory and ITV Studios Sign Multi-Year Deal

Shout! Factory and ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE) have signed a distribution agreement to bring a library of cinema classics to the U.S. and Canada. This multi-year deal will enable U.S. and Canadian audiences to watch more than 30 film properties from ITVS GE on home entertainment and select digital platforms. Movies include Sophie's Choice, On Golden Pond, The Eagle Has Landed, and The Merchant of Venice.

Shout! Factory and ITVS GE plan to release these titles starting later this year, and are re–mastering a number of titles and developing bonus content for special editions and double features.

  New Executive Roles at Nelvana

Corus Entertainment has announced changes to its management team that will align leadership around the Company's newly organized business units. With these changes, the Corus Kids vertical will be led by Colin Bohm, Vice President, Television, Head of Corus Kids, who will be responsible for overseeing the Company's kids–targeted specialty television services as well as Nelvana Studio and Nelvana Enterprises.

As part of the redesign, Nelvana Enterprises has created co–heads for distribution and licensing, who will jointly manage the global portfolio and will report to Colin:

Antoine Erligmann has been appointed Co–Head, Nelvana Enterprises—Antoine will manage the global distribution and licensing of the Nelvana portfolio of brands in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Andrew Kerr has been appointed Co–Head, Nelvana Enterprises—Andrew will manage the global distribution and licensing of the Nelvana portfolio of brands in the Americas and Australasia.

Jerry Diaz will continue in his role as Vice President, Worldwide Sales & Distribution, responsible for placing Nelvana's new and library brands with global broadcasters and digital partners. Jerry will report to Antoine and Andrew.

On the production side, working with the Nelvana Enterprises team, Irene Weibel will continue in her role as Vice President, Head of Nelvana Studio, with ongoing responsibility for developing and producing new content for Corus' Kids television assets, global licensing, and broadcast partners.

  Twentieth Century Fox, Resorts World Genting Partner for Theme Park

Resorts World Genting has signed an agreement with Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products to develop the first international Twentieth Century Fox theme park. Opening in 2016, the new theme park at Resorts World Genting will feature some of Fox's film brands, including Ice Age, Rio, Alien, and Night at the Museum.

The Twentieth Century Fox theme park at Resorts World Genting will feature rides and attractions based on an array of Fox properties including action, adventure, animation, family, and sci–fi genres.

  Popeye Makes Cameo in Tesco Ad

King Features and Allsorts Media have teamed with Tesco to feature Popeye as part of a new Love Every Mouthful campaign.

With the ethos that "food is not simply fuel, but something to savor and share" in the advertisement, Popeye makes his appearance eating his trademark food: spinach.

  It'Sugar Introduces Marilyn Monroe Collection

It'Sugar is set to release a collection inspired by Marilyn Monroe. This collection includes chocolate bars, gummy treats, a Jelly Belly Box, mints, and an It's Me Sugar gift box.

The chocolate bars are encased in quotes by Monroe while the It's Me Sugar gift box is filled with sugar coated lips, hearts, and star gummies. Ballerina, Make a Girl Laugh, Observed the Rules, and Two–Faced mint tins round out the collection. The Marilyn Monroe collection will be sold at all It'Sugar stores nationwide and online.

  Characters T Up for Charity

A free phone and web app will enable people to buy uniquely personalized T–Shirts featuring their favorite children's characters while raising money for good causes.

Characters including Moshi Monsters, Paddington, Ben 10, Forever Friends, the casts of Lazy Town, and Adventure Time are lining up to play a part in the T–Shirt Booth app, which will enable young fans to choose which screen star they want to wear, along with a message and a photo.

This tool for fundraisers comes from Digital Giving. The T–Shirt Booth will be launched in October so that orders can be fulfilled in time for Christmas delivery.
