  Walmart Partners with Warner Bros. for Man of Steel

Walmart has partnered with Warner Bros. for an advance screening of the Man of Steel film, which will take place in select local theaters nationwide at 7 p.m. on June 13. Tickets can be purchased at more than 3,700 Walmart locations nationwide. In addition to being the first to see Man of Steel, Walmart customers can also take advantage of special offers. Each ticket bought at Walmart will feature a code on the back that allows customers to pre-order their own Blu–ray Combo Pack or HD Digital Download of Man of Steel, which will contain exclusive film content.

Fans can bring Superman to life with the official Man of Steel Experience augmented reality app. The app allows customers to take photos with the superhero, as well as unlock special photo frames by pointing their phone at Man of Steel signage in their local Walmart. The app is available at the App Store and on Google Play. Customers will receive a free original digital comic book written by Man of Steel screenwriter David Goyer with every ticket.

  BBC Adds Master Toy and Partners for Sarah & Duck Program

BBC Worldwide has announced Master Toy Licensee and publishing partners for pre-school property Sarah & Duck, which launched on CBeebies in February this year.

Posh Paws has been appointed as Master Toy Licensee to develop a plush range with plans to roll out in Spring 2014. Penguin has also been appointed to develop the Sarah & Duck book publishing range which will be rolled out at the same time as the plush range by Posh Paws. Magazine publisher Immediate Media will develop the magazine publishing offerings of Sarah & Duck.

In response to demand, BBC Worldwide will also release the first ever Sarah & Duck DVD packed with ten episodes of the pre–school adventures, which will be releasing in autumn 2013.

  ITV Studios Signs New Deals for Hell's Kitchen

ITV Studios Global Entertainment will preview the official Hell's Kitchen USA consumer products line ahead of Licensing Expo.

With its 11th season currently airing on Fox and another on its way, Hell's Kitchen USA, produced by ITV Studios America, ranks as TV's No. 1 cooking show in total viewers. Hell's Kitchen USA's licensed consumer products line will expand into more product categories. New licensees for this year include Greystar Products Inc., which will produce several frozen "bar-bites" featuring popular dishes from the show, including Beef Wellington and Risotto Cups. White Coffee will launch a new line of single-serve K–cups. Maud Borup will produce Hell's Kitchen-inspired gift baskets featuring confections, cake mixes, and cooking sauce. GameDevCo Ltd. will produce a Hell's Kitchen board game, and just released official Hell's Kitchen debit cards. In addition, Visual Entertainment Inc. will launch Hell's Kitchen seasons nine through 11 on DVD starting late this summer.

ITV Studios Global Entertainment and Firefly Brand Management will continue to extend the Hell's Kitchen licensing program into numerous other categories, including housewares, snack foods, beverages, apparel, and publishing.

  Bulldog Expands into U.S. Market

Bulldog Licensing is expanding into the US market through a new subsidiary – Bulldog Licensing Inc. With an office in New York, the new company will be managed by Laurie Windrow as Managing Director. Although Bulldog Licensing Inc. has been established as a separate entity, the company will act as an extension of Bulldog in the UK and will also be working on behalf of Bulldog's existing UK Licensors to help them enter the US market, where rights allow.

"Expansion into the US market is a great development for us, as it gives us a presence in what is the home of licensing, and it's a real privilege to be working with Laurie.   Rubie's Partners with Warner Bros. Consumer Products for Man of Steel Costumes

Rubie's Costume Co. Inc. has partnered with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, on behalf of DC Entertainment, to produce officially licensed costumes and accessories inspired by the summer film, Man of Steel, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures.

Available in infant, children, tween, and adult sizes, the Man of Steel Costume Collection includes Superman, his Kryptonian father Jor-el, the villainous General Zod, and his second in command Faora.

Directed by Zack Snyder and produced by Christopher Nolan, Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, and Deborah Snyder, Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill in the role of Clark Kent/Superman. Making its theatrical debut on June 14, this action–packed film is based on the DC Comics character, Superman.

  Parham Santana Introduces New Licensing Division

Parham Santana, The Brand Extension Agency, has launched BrandSlam, a new division that offers a holistic approach to licensing from research, strategy, design, sales representation, and program management. Aaron Spiegeland, vice president of brand strategy and licensing, has been named to run the new division. Previously the director of brand management at Beanstalk, Spiegeland oversaw accounts that generated more than $600 million in annual retail revenue. The new division already represents three national brands: Turner Classic Movies, the Miss Universe Organization, and PBS Kids.

  Hungry Caterpillar Gears up for 45th Birthday

In 2014, the The Very Hungry Caterpillar will be 45 years old. The book sold over 36 million copies, and this centrepiece of The World of Eric Carle brand has a global licensing programme with over 120 licensees in toys, games, apparel, stationery, gift and more.

Managed in the UK by Rocket Licensing on behalf of global agent the Joester Loria Group range of licensed product, distribution and sales in the UK grew in 2012 — and is still growing.

The most recent UK licensing deals, signed in the run–up to Licensing Expo, include Ravensburger for games and puzzles, who join other Rocket signings including Wild and Wolf; children and babywear manufacturer Dennicci; and William Lamb Footwear with Wellington boots. Already at retail or imminent are new cut–out cards from UK Greetings, bikes, trikes and skateboards from Universal Cycles, bedding and blankets from Dreamtex, as well as the developmental toy range from Rainbow Designs.

The brand also enjoys presence at retail and online across national chains, supermarkets, garden centres and bookshops. Promotions, new product launches and special in-store and online celebrations are planned.   Lawless Entertainment Appointed Representatives for Magelica

Lawless Entertainment has been appointed as worldwide representatives for animation, publishing, licensing, and merchandising for Magelica, a children's property targeting girls ages 4 to 11. Magelica is a 12–year old girl who was hatched from a blue sapphire egg, born of fairy blood. She comes into the world with a magical silver feather and bears beautiful, soft, white and pinkish wings. Magelica's Voyage is a story and product line where fantasy, enchantment, and magic weave a tale to help girls around the world grow up to be confident, happy women.

Lawless Entertainment has also announced that Wompkee LLC has finalized a worldwide digital and print publishing deal with Skyreader Media Inc. and Premier Digital Publishing. The initial agreement calls for the release of four e-books with options for several more. The fully interactive e–books will be produced by SkyReader Media. The interactive e–books are expected to become available to the online market in August.

  Warner Bros. Announces Fashion Deal for Classic Brands

Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) has announced a three-year multi-property deal with Parisian design outfit ElevenParis.

Key pieces in the first first collection include signature moustache t-shirts featuring Bugs Bunny, Taz, Sylvester and Marvin the Martian and graphic t–shirts that utilise artwork from Gremlins and the classic Batman logo.

Anoush Kevorkian, Executive Director, Warner Bros Consumer Products France commented: "We're extremely excited to be working with ELEVENPARIS. They are at the forefront of street fashion and have the creative vision to subtlety reinvent our brands in a way that is relevant to current trends and today's generation of fashion conscious consumers."

ElevenParis' range of Warner Bros. t–shirts have just launched across Europe to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the clothing brand.

  Clorox Co. Appoints JLG as Licensing Agency for Green Works

The Clorox Co. has named The Joester Loria Group (JLG) as the new, official licensing agency for its Green Works brand in the U.S. JLG will develop a licensing program designed to extend the core equity of the Green Works brand into other household categories, including home appliances, lawn and garden, paper products, and lighting.

Drawing on its strength in developing effective cleaning products, Clorox took naturally derived, plant–based ingredients to create the Green Works line of home cleaners. The Green Works product line is the No. 1 brand in the natural homecare cleaning category.

  Furby Looks to Top European Toy Charts

Furby is set to become top of the toy charts in Europe this year, according to global information company The NPD Group.

Furby was launched in the UK in September 2012 and quickly achieved record sales, becoming the best–selling toy over Christmas. Since launching in Spain, the interactive toy has achieved top position in the toy sales charts, and is number one in the youth electronics category in Germany and France. The new version of the toy pet, first manufactured at the end of the 90s, now features advanced interactive technology and can be connected to applications on users' smartphones or tablets.

Frederique Tutt, Global Toy Industry Analyst with The NPD Group, explains: "With its huge popularity in the UK, Spain, France and Germany, we are witnessing the start of a new European toy craze. The success of the reinvented Furby shows the crucial role that innovation and new product launches play in maintaining healthy sales levels in the toy market. Furby was the icon for the toy market last Christmas and its continued success has really brightened up the first four months of 2013."

  The Jungle Book Gets a Refreshed Digital, Social Campaign

SMC Entertainment Group Inc. has given the animated TV series The Jungle Book a complete digital makeover. The new strategy will focus on a comprehensive digital marketing and social media plan, redesigned website, official online shop, and the first mobile gaming app for the property.

The restaged website,, was designed to enhance the overall user experience with increased functionality. Integrated into the new website is the official online shop, where consumers can purchase a host of Jungle Book merchandise ranging from toys to home entertainment to mobile apps and party goods. The restaged website went live June 1.

The brand's first mobile gaming app, The Jungle Book–The Great Escape, will launch as part of a new BK Crown Kids Meal promotion in the U.S. Consumers can also download the new app on Google Play and later in the year on the iTunes App Store. The Jungle Book brand will also be supported with a comprehensive digital marketing and social media plan that includes Facebook and Twitter advertising and promotions, search engine marketing, email and mobile text campaigns, and an extensive mom blog campaign.

  Televisa Acquires Broadcast and Licensing Rights to Peppa Pig

Exim on board as licensing agent for rest of Latin America.

Televisa has acquired the broadcast and licensing rights for the Peppa Pig property in Mexico, and Exim is on board as licensing agent for the rest of Latin America.

Televisa will begin airing episodes to its pre-school audience throughout Mexico at the end of 2013. In conjunction with the broadcast launch, Televisa's consumer products division is laying the foundation for a comprehensive licensing programme. Consumer products and promotions for Peppa Pig are scheduled to debut in Mexico in 2014, with a soft launch in Q3 and a full launch during Q4 2014.

Beyond Mexico, eOne also confirms that Exim Licensing Group will develop a major consumer products programme for Peppa Pig in the rest of the region. Exim has a network of 15 offices across Latin America and will use its knowledge of local markets to tailor a licensing strategy for the brand that respects regional variations and partners are being lined up in the toys, publishing and home entertainment categories. The first line of products is slated to launch at retail in 2014 in Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Argentina, Peru and Ecuador.

  MGA Entertainment Signs New Deals for Canada

MGA Entertainment, in partnership with Studio Licensing Inc., has signed more than 35 deals for its toy brands in Cananda since January. The latest partners include Goldy Toys for Little Tikes swimwear and water activities; JCorp Inc. for Bratzillaz and Novi Stars apparel; NTD Apparel for Lalaloopsy activewear, swimwear, craftswear, and thermals; Paris Geneve for Lalaloopsy swimwear; Imagine Publications for Lalaloopsy story, coloring, and activity books; and Daytime Enterprises for Lalaloopsy costume appearances.

In addition to these new deals, the Lalaloopsy animated series has recently launched on Treehouse, Canada's No. 1 preschool network, targeted toward girls ages 2 to 11.

  Zodiak Rights Takes on Third Season of Braquo

Zodiak Rights has acquired the third season of Emmy–Award winning Braquo series produced by Capa Drama for Canal+. Currently shooting, the new 8x52' episodes will be launched at Mipcom 2013.

Alexandre Piel, Senior VP Sales and Acquisitions at Zodiak Rights, comments: "We are thrilled to bring to the international market a gripping third season to the hit crime series Braquo. The awaited return of the rogue cops will be excellent news to all the fans of the series worldwide." Fox in the UK has already acquired this upcoming new season, while the other two series of Braquo already sold to 90 territories, including the US (Hulu), UK (Fox), Italy (Fox Intl. Channel, RAI Cinema), Australia (Showtime), Denmark (DR TV), Israël (Hot), Brazil (GloboSat), Scandinavia (Scanbox), Canada (eOne), Belgium and Luxembourg (RTBF), Czech Republic (Ceska Televise), Poland (Canal+), Switzerland (RSI), Turkey (Sinema TV), France and French speaking territories (Jimmy).

These numerous sales earned Zodiak Rights the 2011 TVFI Export Prize, rewarding the bestselling French program abroad.

  The Wild Flower Group Signs New Deals for Girl Scouts, Rapala

The Wild Flower Group and Creative Properties have signed Unilever as a new licensee for Girl Scouts of America. Under its Breyers brand, Unilever launched Girl Scout Cookies frozen varieties in March. Breyers Blasts!, a line of frozen treats, now features Girl Scout Cookies in every Breyers scoop. Breyers Blasts! Girl Scout Cookies Thin Mints and Samoas flavors are currently available in 48 oz. tubs in supermarkets and grocery chains nationwide.

The Wildflower Group has also signed two new licensees to the consumer merchandising program for Rapala. This year, Open Road Brands LLC and Cranston Fabrics will develop new products for Rapala, a manufacturer of fishing-related products. The new product ranges will arrive at retail starting next summer. Open Road Brands' Rapala line will include wall art, wall clocks, temperature gauges, serving trays, coffee mugs, magnets, boxes and containers, fishing pole hangers, and pillows. Cranston Fabrics will produce Rapala-themed piece goods, printed fabrics, printed fleece, and pre-printed fabric kits. The products based on Rapala's archive of famous lures and witty ads are slated to launch at retail this summer. The Wildflower Group is currently in discussions with potential licensees for apparel, outdoor gear, accessories, automotive, tools and utilities, cookware, food, health and beauty care, publishing, and promotions.

  Outdoor Range Developed for Sonic

Sega Europe has announced that two more licensee partners have joined the expanding licensing programme around its property Sonic the Hedgehog, developing a range of outdoor goods which will be available in selected European markets.

Global Industry BV is developing a comprehensive range of outdoor and wheeled goods. The range includes a skateboard, scooter, roller blades as well as a folding chair, play tent, sleeping bag, ready bed, water gun, tennis set, hopper ball and frisbee. In addition, they are crafting a selection of Sonic lighting products, which will include a torch, projector, camping light, table light and push light. Rounding off the portfolio will be a winter toy category, which will consist of a snow shove, ski helmet and sledge.

Universal Cycles Ltd has been appointed to develop bikes, scooters, skateboards, roller skates, helmets and bike accessories for the UK and Ireland, and key retailer Argos has already placed initial orders.

  AG Properties Expands Strawberry Shortcake U.S. Publishing Program

AG Properties (AGP), the intellectual property and outbound licensing division of American Greetings Corp., has signed with partners for a collection of new Strawberry Shortcake book products slated to hit stores this year and next year. Publications International will introduce Strawberry Shortcake product under its Look & Find — First Look & Find Books and My First Library collections this spring. The company will also produce electronic sound books and paper doll kits set for release next spring.

Penguin Young Readers Group will have new titles across board books, leveled paperback readers, 8x8 storybooks, and sticker stories. For the first time, the publisher will have picture books and e-books available at all mass retailers. Dalmatian Press will add new titles across coloring/activity books, bind-ups, and boxed kits of coloring/activity books, coloring/activity tubes, oversized coloring/activity books, spiral&nash;bound giant activity Cling 'n Play Pads, and foam cover books available in specialty stores, direct mail catalogs, club stores, department stores, discount stores, and via e–commerce. Bendon Publishing will continue its line of flash cards, workbooks, and puzzle books. The products are available in arts and crafts stores, bookstores, drug stores, supermarkets, toy stores, mass-market stores, and club, department, and discount stores.

  Game of Thrones to Get the Zynga Treatment

With the early success of the HBO social media game Game of Thrones Ascent during open beta testing, Zynga has joined forces with them and developer Disruptor Beam to bring the game into the Zynga Partners program.

Since its open beta launch in February, Game of Thrones Ascent has experienced a strong amount of interest from social gamers with more than 500,000 installs. With Zynga on board, the game will reach a new group of users.

"Zynga is a true leader in the industry and we are thrilled that they will be working with us and Disruptor Beam to make this fantastic game available to fans through multiple platforms." said James Costos, VP HBO Global Licensing. "The response to the Facebook launch of Game of Thrones Ascent has been incredible and we expect that to continue as more users opt into the game."

  Evolution to Unveil Legends Of Oz: Dorothy's Return Licensing Program

Evolution will unveil its new licensing program for Summertime Entertainment's upcoming animated, 3–D musical Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return at the upcoming Licensing Expo in Las Vegas. Slated for a wide theatrical release next May in the U.S. and Canada, Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return will be accompanied by the release of the movie's soundtrack by Sony Music and a DVD/Blu-Ray release will follow from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment in the fall.

Evolution manages, licenses, and handles the retail program for Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return, including licensed merchandise, packaged goods, and video games for launch concurrent with the theatrical release of the film. Additionally, The CDM Co. has been hired to represent Summertime Entertainment for promotional and partnership campaigns. Key categories of interest include QSR/family dining, CPG, pet retail and pet care, insurance, hospitality, and cause-related tie-ins.

The roster of U.S. licensees currently onboard to launch the program for Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return include Bandai America (toys), Added Extras (cosmetics/beauty), Attraction Media & Entertainment (3–D/4-D film attractions), Culturenik (novelty), DecoPac (cake decorating), Housewares International (housewares), Hybrid/JEM (apparel), Hypnotic (hosiery/socks), KidDesign/SDI (music/electronics), Loungefly (accessories), Madame Alexander Doll Co. (collectible dolls), Netovative LLC (jewelry), Rubie's Costume Co.(costumes), and S. Goldberg (footwear and sleepwear). Additional key category licensing partners are currently being finalized in publishing, home furnishings, social expressions and party goods, food and beverage, and confections.

  Opposing Trends Lead SeaWorld at Licensing Expo

At Licensing Expo SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment will debut a product line–up designed for time–starved, tech-reliant consumers, including a marine animal-inspired mobile app game. But the company also is developing products that align with the simpler pleasures in life, recognizing consumers' growing fondness for tradition, nostalgia and real–world experiences that connect them to people and nature.

"There's an interesting dichotomy in consumer buying trends that's been emerging for the past several years," said Chief Creative Officer for SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, Scott Helmstedter.   C3 Entertainment Signs with Mo Hotta Mo Betta for Three Stooges Sauces

C3 Entertainment Inc., The Three Stooges brand owner, has signed a worldwide licensing agreement with Mo Hotta Mo Betta for a series of Three Stooges Hot Sauces and Barbeque Sauce. Mo Hotta Mo Betta will produce three hot sauces: a Moe, a Curly, and a Larry each with different flavors. The company will also release a Three Stooges BBQ Sauce. Each package will feature Three Stooges imagery.

  Nottingham Forest and Planeta Junior Partner for Sendokai Champions

Nottingham Forest has partnered with Planeta Junior to manage the licensing and merchandising program of Sendokai Champions in several European countries, including Italy, France, Greece, Russia, Turkey, and Central and Eastern Europe countries.

Sendokai Champions is coproduced by Kotoc and TVE, and is a mix of action and comedy where friendship, heroism, effort and fairplay take the most important role.

  Where's Waldo Named New York City's Official Ambassador

NYC & Co., New York City's official tourism, marketing, and partnership organization, has announced that Where’s Waldo? will serve as New York City's fifth official Family Ambassador. As part of the yearlong collaboration, Waldo will encourage family travel to the city by highlighting the best ways for families to discover, experience, and enjoy the many neighborhoods, cultural institutions, parks, attractions, and hotels across the five boroughs.   Pyramid Creating Phizzogs Ranges

Pyramid International has announced it has joined forces with Withit for the Phizzogs brand.

Introducing a range of mugs, posters and accessories this summer, top retail destinations are targeted.

  Fender Signs Apparel License with Dragonfly Clothing

Fender has signed a deal with rock 'n roll clothier Dragonfly Clothing to create a lifestyle fashion collection inspired by Fender's music history. The line will feature dress shirts, work shirts, terry fleece hoodies, laser-print microfiber shirts, denim and leather outerwear, and T–shirts. Products will be available at specialty apparel and finer department stores throughout North America and Europe this summer.

The new collection focuses on bringing back nostalgic American looks inspired by more than 60 years of Fender's influence on many music genres. Designs will range from subtle looks with offset stitching and music–themed elements on cutting–edge fashion blanks to bold prints and elaborate embroidered designs for the most passionate enthusiasts.

  Royal Mail and Purple Ronnie Join for Father's Day

Royal Mail is joining forces with Coolabi's social expression brand, Purple Ronnie, to celebrate Father's Day (Sunday, June 16th). The 'Dear Dad' competition is offering 50 people the chance to have a personalised Purple Ronnie poem written about their father. People can enter the competition by visiting and telling the Royal Mail why their dad is so special.

  Brazilian Brand Fico Presents Innovations in the Licensing Expo

Fico, a Brazilian brand which celebrates 30 years in 2013, will exhibit for the first time at Licensing Expo.

Fico, which launches over 200 licensed products per year, has licensed products in several areas, such as bags and a complete feminine clothing line, jeans, shirts, boardshorts, socks, notebooks, and others.

At the show, Fico will present its partnership with TV Pinguim, the creator of Fishtronaut, Brazilian producer responsible for the creation and development of the cartoon Go Surf, where Fico is the main character.

Fico intends to expand its range of licensed products by settling new partnerships.

  Egmont International Signs for Masha and the Bear

Animaccord Animation Studios, producers and owners of Masha and the Bear, has announced that publishing rights in Central Europe and Turkey had been granted to Egmont International.

The deal features Egmont launching a line of craft books, novelty books, activity books, editorial books, coloring books, and gift books. Egmont has been tapped to create stickers, wooden puzzle and memo games. Masha and the Bear magazines published in Hungary, Bulgaria and Czech Republic and Turkey will accompany the broadcasted season.

The whole line will debut in Denmark, Sweden, Hungary, Finland, Norway, Croatia, Lithuania, Estonia and Turkey. Masha and the Bear books published by Egmont have seen success in Russia, with over 4 million books and 850,000 magazines sold throughout 2012.

To date, the licensing program has more than 100 licensees covering more than 50 product groups
