  Warner Bros., CBS Consumer Products Partner for Co-Branded Merchandise

Warner Bros. and CBS Consumer Products are launching an exclusive, limited-edition, co-branded collection of The Big Bang Theory/Star Trek merchandise that includes Leonard, Sheldon, Howard, and Raj's preferred version of "Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock" themed product, as well as T-shirts and Funko bobble-heads featuring the characters in Starfleet uniforms. This new collection of merchandise will be available exclusively at Hot Topic stores nationwide and HotTopic.com from now until July. Hot Topic will also be the exclusive home to a new, limited–edition The Big Bang Theory/DC Comics T-shirt, featuring Leonard, Sheldon, Howard, and Raj in their favorite DC Comics superhero costumes.

In support of these new collections, Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution have teamed up with Hot Topic to celebrate The Big Bang Theory airing five nights a week in off-network syndication. The partnership offers a second annual sweepstakes inviting fans to enter the Ultimate Fan Giveaway for an opportunity to attend Comic-Con in San Diego. Fans will also have the chance to win a special-edition DC Comics T-shirt and $500 Hot Topic gift cards. As part of the promotion, Hot Topic stores will feature an array of The Big Bang Theory merchandise spanning apparel, accessories, gifts and novelties, and toys.

  Universal Launches Largest Global Campaign for Despicable Me 2

Universal Partnerships & Licensing (UP&L) will roll out its largest global campaign, for the July 3 release of Despicable Me 2.

The sequel to 2010's Despicable Me marks Universal's fourth collaboration with Chris Meledandri's Illumination Entertainment since the company was formed in 2007. In an unprecedented campaign, UP&L has secured more than $254 million in total global media value from key marketing partners, including McDonald's, Progressive, General Mills, Frito-Lay, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Ad Council, Chiquita Brands, UHU, Land O'Frost, and Topps, along with more than 100 licensing and international promotional partners. Global licensing partners include Gameloft, Thinkway Toys, and Hasbro.

With their support of Despicable Me 2, this marks the first time that McDonald's and General Mills have worked with Universal since Jurassic Park in 1993, and the first time Progressive has tied–in with a Universal film property.

  CPLG Partners with FIBA for Licensing Programme

CPLG has announced its partnership with FIBA, the International Basketball Federation, with the aim of launching an event-led consumer product programme for the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

The FIBA Basketball World Cup is FIBA's flagship world competition, held every four years and it will be staged in Spain from 30 August to 14 September 2014, with the 2014 FIBA World Championship for Women to follow, taking place in Turkey from 27 September to 5 October 2014.

CPLG's Barcelona office will lead the initiative by building an international licensing program that targets fans of all ages. CPLG will also look to immediately appoint sub-agent representation in Turkey to exploit the opportunity associated with the FIBA World Championship for Women, which runs in Turkey in September and October 2014.

  Rubie's Gains Rights for Batman Classic TV Series Costumes

Rubie's Costume Company Inc. has signed with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and DC Entertainment to produce officially licensed costumes for the Batman Grand Heritage Costume Collection. Based on the popular TV series from the 1960s, the Batman Classic TV Series costume collection includes Batman, Robin, Batgirl, The Joker, The Riddler, and Catwoman.

The new Batman Classic TV Series costume collection is available in adult sizes and will be sold online and in stores for the Halloween season. In addition, each high-quality costume comes with accessories to recreate the perfect retro-inspired design.

  eOne Acquires Worldwide Distributions Rights for Simon's Cat

Entertainment One (eOne) has entered into a partnership with Simon's Cat Ltd. on YouTube brand Simon's Cat.

eOne will now handle worldwide distribution rights for the property across all media including, TV, Home Entertainment, Licensing and Online.

"This deal marks eOne's first major step towards the development of licensing programs for brands conceived in the non-linear space for a broader audience. Online content is being consumed by audiences around the world like never before, thus creating a unique sort of brand awareness that we're eager to harness. The brilliantly funny Simon's Cat is a perfect illustration of this strategic move and while we remain focused on the traditional approach of licensing TV properties, we're excited to embark on this new frontier," said Olivier Dumont, Managing Director, eOne Licensing & eOne Family.

  Sega, Nintendo Enter Exclusive Partnership for Sonic the Hedgehog

Sega of America Inc. and Sega Europe Ltd. have formed an exclusive partnership with Nintendo of America Inc. and Nintendo of Europe GmbH for the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. The new agreement will make Nintendo consoles the No. 1 destination for Sonic gaming over the next three titles, with more details of the individual games being revealed in the coming weeks.

Sonic the Hedgehog first appeared as a video game character in June 1991 and instantly became an icon for a generation of gamers. Defined by his super-fast speed and cool attitude, Sonic has sold more than 75 million video games and smartphone apps worldwide. Sega's iconic blue blur has also had success in many licensed areas, such as toys, apparel, comics, and animation.

  BLE Registration Opens and New Exhibitors Announced

Brand Licensing Europe, the Advanstar organised exhibition, has announced that registration for BLE 2013 is now open.

The exhibition takes place at London's Olympia, 15-17 October 2013. Now in its 15th year, this year's show looks to be the busiest yet, with 200 exhibitors already signed up. Companies including Character World Ltd, Jast Company Ltd., Nia's World of Art & Design, Random House Group, STUDIOCANAL, The Copyrights Group, The Pokemon Company International and World Wrestling Entertainment will exhibit for the first time.

BLE event director, Darren Brechin, said: "We are very pleased with the organic growth taking place on the show floor this year and are delighted to welcome such outstanding new exhibitors to BLE. New brands are coming on board in response to the careful work we are doing to create the right environment and audience for them in the West Hall. Art, Design and Illustration exhibitors are filling the gallery. Character and Entertainment companies are already developing exciting plans to bring their brands to life for retailers and other potential partners."

Olympia's Grand Hall will host names including Aardman Rights, Disney Consumer Products, DreamWorks Animation, Hasbro Brand Licensing & Publishing, ITV Studios Global Entertainment, Mattel Brands Consumer Products, Mind Candy, Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products, SEGA Corporation, Walker Books and Warner Bros. Consumer Products, as well as the principal agencies in the European licensing industry.BLE 2013's new Brands area, located in the newly renovated Upper West Hall, will feature exhibitors including Adidas Italy S.p.A., Alchemy Licensing, Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, Beanstalk, Chupa Chups, Dorna Sports S. L, NBA Europe, Performance Brands and Route 66 Licensing. New exhibitors Discovery Enterprises International and WWF UK will make their debut in this area.

Art, Design and Illustration brands will be housed on the gallery level of Olympia's Grand Hall. Visitors and the press can register at www.brandlicensing.eu.

  Simon & Schuster Signs on for Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood

Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing has been named master publishing licensee for PBS Kids' Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood. Under its agreement with brand owner The Fred Rogers Company, and licensing agency, Out of the Blue Enterprises, Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing will introduce a broad range of books based on the animated show, the first TV series from The Fred Rogers Company since Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. The first titles in the publishing program are set to launch in January.

As part of the publishing program, Simon & Schuster imprint Simon Spotlight will produce story, picture, novelty, activity and coloring books, as well as non-interactive e-books.

Inspired by Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood stars 4-year-old Daniel Tiger, son of the original program's Daniel Striped Tiger, who invites preschool audiences into the colorful Neighborhood of Make-Believe. As they closely follow and share Daniel's everyday adventures, viewers learn fun and practical strategies and skills necessary for growing and learning. The theme of each episode is reinforced by simple and catchy musical strategies.

  Thunderbirds Are Go in Tokyo

ITV Studios Global Entertainment has announced that Classic Thunderbirds will be the main attraction at a major new exhibition taking place in Japan from July to September this year.

The exhibition at Miraikan — Tokyo's National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation — is called Thunderbirds and The Future of Science.

The exhibition has four main attractions: an advanced technology exhibit, a Thunderbirds 3D theatre, a Thunderbirds gallery and an interactive Thunderbirds attraction.

The exhibition will also include a Thunderbirds screening theatre, using 3D technology; a gallery of models of vehicles and gadgets from the show, donated to the exhibition by some of Japan's many Thunderbirds enthusiasts; and an interactive attraction which will give visitors the chance to become part of a rescue team on a mission with Thunderbird 2!

  Thanasi Foods Launches Bigs—Old Bay Catch of the Day Sunflower Seeds

Thanasi Foods LLC has launched the co-branded Bigs—Old Bay Catch of the Day Sunflower Seeds. For more than 70 years, Old Bay has been known for its distinctive blend of 18 herbs and spices, its time-honored taste, and the iconic yellow and blue can. Selling more than 55 million ounces each year across the country, Old Bay is the No. 1-selling seafood seasoning blend in the U.S. Since the brand was launched in 2009, Bigs remains the fastest-growing brand of sunflower seeds in both the U.S. and Canada.

  Studio 100 Launches New Film Division

Studio 100 Media has announced the launch of a new film division under the banner Studio 100 Film, and has secured its first theatrical film for international distribution, Maya The Bee — Movie.

A hundred-percent subsidiary of Studio 100 Media, Studio 100 Film is responsible for all worldwide cinematic film sales. The launch formalizes Studio 100 Media's strategic plans for growth into the movie business and defines an entry and presence in the burgeoning film market both domestically and internationally.

With Studio 100 Film's first film project, Maya The Bee - Movie under its belt, the new subsidiary is responsible for worldwide sales. The Company has sold the rights to Universum Film for the German speaking territories and also on board are Monolith Films and Karantanija Cinemas who will handle the distribution in Poland and Ex-Yugoslavia respectively.

  Wonder-Shirts Signs on for The World of Eric Carle

The Joester Loria Group has signed Wonder-Shirts to offer The World of Eric Carle licensed children's and adult T-shirts and canvas tote bags. Launching later this year, Wonder-Shirts will create an apparel collection for specialty and department stores based on illustrations from Carle's books with a special focus on The Very Hungry Caterpillar, the centerpiece of The World of Eric Carle brand. Carle is an author and illustrator of more than 70 children's books, with more than 120 million copies of his books sold worldwide, including 36 million copies of The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Wonder-Shirts specializes in creating apparel based on children's book illustrations, including dozens of artists, such as Edward Gorey, Mo Willems, Judy Schachner, and Nick Bruel.

  Atlantyca, BRB, and Planeta Join forces for Geronimo Stilton

BRB Internacional and Planeta Publishing House have closed a deal with Atlantyca Entertainment for Geronimo Stilton. Planeta will launch in Spain, including a new datebook in July, and a secret diary featuring mouse editor Geronimo Stilton will launch in September. BRB, the appointed licensing agent for the brand in Iberia, and Planeta, the publisher of the renowned character's books in Spain, have united forces to launch these two new items out on the Geronimo Stilton market.

  Evolution Develops Licensing Programs for Two RGH Properties

Evolution is in development on new licensing programs for RGH's Monster In My Pocket and Life and Adventures of Santa Claus properties. Evolution will unveil both programs at Licensing Expo in Las Vegas.

Monster In My Pocket is a brand of collectible monsters for boys supported by a soon-to-be-named master toy partner. Additionally, digital apps, games, and an animated TV series from RGH releasing next fall are currently in development. Evolution is seeking licensing partners in multiple categories, including apparel and accessories, home furnishings, home and housewares, paper goods and back-to-school items, novelty toys, board games, trading card games, and publishing. The licensing program is anticipated to launch at retail in the spring of 2015.

Life and Adventures of Santa Claus, a new 3-D, CGI-animated theatrical feature film, is slated for release for the holiday season of next year. The property will be supported with licensed products in apparel, toys, publishing, and seasonal, which will debut at retail concurrent with the film release.

  Sega Teams with Pan Macmillan for Total War

Sega Europe is extending property Total War: Rome II, the next title to be released in its Total War franchise of strategic war games, into the world of adult fiction.

Sega has brokered a four book deal with publishers Pan Macmillan to create a new historical adventure series of novels based on the Sega game. Sega and Pan Macmillan worked together to secure author David Gibbins, who will collaborate with game developers, Creative Assembly, to create original stories set in the world of the Total War franchise. The first book in the series is due for release Worldwide in September, alongside the release of the latest game.

Sega and Pan Macmillan will work together to cross-promote the original novels, including innovative marketing within the game itself.

  Bin Weevils, Aardman, Sony Partner for Competition

BinWeevils.com has partnered with Aardman Animations and Sony Music to find the best pop video animator in the UK.

The competition will offer, as first prize, the chance for four children to create the official pop video for the Bin Weevils debut album, 'Bin Tunes', released by Sony Music on 29th July. The winners will visit the world famous Aardman Animations in Bristol, where such legends as Shaun the Sheep, Morph and Wallace & Gromit were created. There, they will work with a professional director to create a unique pop video, which will be seen by up to two million children on BinWeevils.com.

Entrants are invited to submit a short pop video clip, featuring Bin Weevils characters, using the 'Animate It!' software which was created by Kudlian Software in association with Aardman Animations.

  DHX Follows LA Screenings with Three Signings

DHX Media has signed three key deals in Latin America, following a successful LA Screenings.

Global Movie has acquired the Latin American SVOD rights to a volume of DHX Media content. The company has now licensed a plethora of DHX Media favorite series, such as Arthur, Madeline and Are you Afraid of the Dark.

SBP Worldwide S.A. has picked up home entertainment rights to season five of Caillou and Caillou's Holiday Movie for South America. Media International Enterprises has licensed the first three seasons (65 episodes) of Naturally Sadie for its pay TV channel, Yups TV, which broadcasts across Latin America.

Melanie Meurehg, who is directly responsible for managing DHX Media's broadcaster sales in Latin America, US Hispanic and French Canadian Territories brokered all the Latin American sales deals.

  Viz Media to Represent K

Viz Media has become the North American master licensee for the anime series — K.

VIZ Media will manage the domestic home video, television rights, and online rights and distribution, as well as oversee the licensing and development of a range of new products and collectables based on the property.

K was developed and produced by GoHands.

  Flash Gordon Licensing Campaign Reports Growth

Allsorts Licensing has reported a resurgence of interest in Flash Gordon.

From appearing in the movie Ted, to now making appearances and trending heavily in fashion stores such as Top Shop and River Island, Flash Gordon has seen interest from a number of product areas such as gifting, publishing and fashions. Licensees already secured are Knitmania, Alexia Fashions, IDW Publishing and Titan.

Claire Atherton from Allsorts comments: "We are delighted in the amount of interest in Flash Gordon, we have a fantastic wealth of comic book art as well as conceptual art available to retailers and licensees that is helping to make this iconic character deliver at retail."

  Calimero to be Star of Animation Festival

The newly rebranded Gaumont Animation (formerly Alphanim), together with Calidra and Italy's Studio Campedelli who co-produce the series Calimero, have announced that the show will be the star of this year's Annecy International Animation Festival by hosting the opening night party of MIFA, the International Animation Film Market, which is part of the festival, on June 12th in Annecy, France.

Broadcasters who have already signed on board from the start of this new production are France's TF1, RAI Fiction, Disney Junior and Tele Quebec.

As part of the festival, famous and emerging artists from different art movements or disciplines will be invited to paint on replicas of the famous Calimero eggshell while bringing their own interpretation to this iconic character. After the festival, these "work of art" eggshells will be exhibited in a Parisian gallery and in the main capitals around the world where the show will be broadcast.

Then after the exhibition, these eggshell paintings will be auctioned with the monies raised going to Les Toiles Enchantées.

  Vimto & Tango Scannable Lollipops Launch

R Crawford has launched Vimto & Tango Fizzy Lollipops with individual bar coded sticks in new drawer boxes, in conjunction with Belmont Packaging.

Vimto & Tango Fizzy lollipops have already made new distribution gains in the forecourt and convenience sector. This is aided by the fact that the lollies can be scanned by electronic tills up and down the country.

  Retro British Drinks Apparel Range Announced

Poeticgem will develop a new tee shirt & nightwear range for adults based around some British iconic soft drink brands, after signing an agreement with Britvic.

Britvic brands such as R White's Lemonade and Tango have become brands, in part thanks to slogans such as 'I'm a secret lemonade drinker' and 'You know when you've been Tango'd' firmly on the national consciousness.

  Disney Pulls an All-Nighter

Three of Disney's biggest theme parks will be staying open for 24 hours for the first ever three-park all-night party.

The party will take place on Memorial Day Weekend (May 24th) to kick off a "Monstrous Summer" on both the East and West coast of the USA.Walt Disney World Florida's Magic Kingdom Park and Disney's California Adventure park will stay open from 6am on May 24th right through to 6am on May 25th, 2013. The parks will be laying on extra entertainment throughout the night. Magic Kingdom will feature a Monsters University theme in celebration of the new movie prequel to Monsters Inc, as well as characters in their pyjamas and late-night dance parties around the courtyard of Cinderella Castle.

California will feature similar entertainment, with late-night pyjama parties, a Monstrous Dance Club, new Monsters University Dorms in Hollywood Land and a Monsters University float leading the Pixar Play Parade.

  Rachel Ellen Balloons Floating Across Europe

A new range of Qualatex balloons featuring designs from Rachel Ellen is now on sale across Europe after proving to be a huge success in the UK.

The Rachel Ellen balloons are now on sale in nineteen countries across Europe, including Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Sweden, Poland, Romania, Slovenia and Malta, with initial reports showing particularly strong sales in both Italy and Spain. The foil balloons include the pirate design as well as a knight, a ballerina and a princess - which are all exclusive to Qualatex - baby boy and girl, a christening range, and balloons for adult celebrations such as engagements, weddings and milestone birthdays.

  Further Deals for Masha and the Bear

Animaccord Animation Studios has announced new international deals with key European partners to expand DVD collections for animated series Masha and The Bear.

Sony Music has acquired the rights to distribute 26 fully dubbed episodes in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Alto-A3ige and German-speaking part of Luxembourg.

Nordisk Film launches three DVDs with the same amount of the episodes beginning with a box-set featured the first season in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.

In 2012 more than 1.1 million DVDs were sold in Russia alone, which is second place after Avatar. To date, the series has been sold to more than 30 countries around the world to lead broadcasters in each territory including: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, India, Indonesia, Middle East and South Korea.

The worldwide licensing program, excluding the US, is handled through Ink Brands, while recently established Animaccord USA Co will be acting as the property's representative across the United States. Animacord will launch the Masha and The Bear international licensing program at Licensing Expo in Las Vegas.
