  Bravado, The Wish Factory to Create Carly Rae Jepsen Merchandise

Global music merchandising company Bravado has partnered with The Wish Factory, Inc., to develop an exclusive line of merchandise for "Call Me Maybe" artist Carly Rae Jepsen.

The line will include a broad range of novelties and collectibles such as dolls, microphones, headphones, and fashion accessories, as well as licensed products for The Wish Factory's exclusive Pop Grrl and Locker Rocker brands.

  HMV to Enter Administration

Entertainment chain HMV will enter administration, a procedure under insolvency laws, after 92 years in business. The 236-store retailer of DVDs, CDs, and computer games, as well as numerous licensed products, which has about 4,000 staff members, will appoint Deloitte as administrator. Shares have ceased to be traded.

HMV has been hit by the exponential growth of digital downloading of music and films coupled with retailers' increasing online purchasing habits. The six months before October saw a 10.2 percent slump in sales, with net debt rising to £176.1 million. A buyer can still be found who would continue to operate the chain, albeit on a smaller basis.

HMV is the third major high street retailer to fall recently, with Jessops announcing all of its 187 stores would shut last week, and Comet going just before Christmas.

  Lawless Entertainment Appointed Worldwide Representative for The Wompkees

Lawless Entertainment has been appointed as worldwide representative for television, home video, and VOD distribution; licensing, merchandising, and publishing for The Wompkees, a property geared toward children ages 3 to 8.

The Wompkees have two full-length, 52-minute long, high-definition DVDs, A Very Wompkee Christmas and Hidden Treasure of Wompkee Wood, as well as a hardcover book, A Very Wompkee Christmas. Twig, Scout, Buster, Daisy, Hummer, and Gran are the Wompkees. Each has a unique personality and is always full of curiosity, fun, and adventure. Together they find themselves in various predicaments, but, one way or another, the Wompkees find a way to save the day.

  ITV's Rebrand Goes Live

ITV's rebrand has gone live across all five ITV channels in the UK, six ITV Studios production offices around the world, and ITV Studios' distribution arm, ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE).

A modern, unifying brand identity will now not only stretch across ITV PLC, and ITV's main channels in the UK, but also ITV's online and on-demand products including ITV Player. ITVS GE, and all of ITV Studios' local production offices—including ITV Studios UK, America, France, Germany, Nordic, and the newly renamed ITV Studios Australia—will also adopt the new ITV logo, aligning them more closely with the parent brand.

The rebrand is linked to ITV's transformation plan, and has been led by Rufus Radcliffe, group director of marketing and research, Reemah Sakaan, director of network marketing, and Phil Lind, creative director of ITV creative.

ITV1 is now ITV and the five UK channels (ITV, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4, and CITV) all have new logos and new color schemes.

  Jennifer Adams Signs with AALMG for Lifestyle Licensing Program

Jennifer Adams has signed with All-American Licensing & Management Group (AALMG) to develop a comprehensive lifestyle licensing program. The designer, who's worked on more than $1 billion in residential and commercial properties over the past decade, boasts a branded bedding and furniture line, Jennifer Adams Home, a furniture line carried at Costco. In 2009, she launched her eco-friendly bedding line, which she recently expanded to include custom sofas, chairs, dressers, and tables. Courtesy of her new partnership with AALMG, the designer will also expand her brand to include a variety of products within the fashion and apparel categories, as well as pet, textiles, and additional home furnishings.

  Chupa Chups Signs Raft of New Licensees

The Chupa Chups brand has signed new licenses to launch this year. In France, Sahinler SAS will have apparel and bedding, Barbier will launch a tabletop range in the spring, and Francal will make gift bags with the Chupa Chups artwork. The Italian style factory Salvadori Arte will present its proposal for home d├ęcor in a playful way at the upcoming Macef fair in Milan.

In Asia, Uniqlo will sell Chupa Chups T-shirts for men and kids across its stores around the world; the Itochu Corp. will launch an apparel line in Japanese department stores in spring; Takara Tomy will launch an ice lolly maker; T-Factory is developing a line of gadgets; and Gigno System will release a new app.

Three deals will soon be signed in Russia, and in Australia, Magic Brands is preparing a range of accessories for smartphones and tablets.

  Universal Partnerships & Licensing Takes Uglydoll into the Digital Space

Universal Partnerships & Licensing has entered into a representation agreement with Pretty Ugly, LLC, the creators of the Uglydoll brand, to expand the digital category of the Uglydoll world, Uglyverse. Universal will launch interactive and wireless content, such as apps, games, widgets, and virtual goods. A feature film based on the Uglydoll characters is currently in development at Illumination Entertainment, Universal's main supplier of family and animated films. The film will be produced by Illumination founder Chris Meledandri (Despicable Me, Hop, Dr. Seuss' The Lorax), and distributed worldwide by Universal.

  CPLG Sport Makes New Relationship with Welsh Rugby Union Rep

CPLG Sport has forged a new relationship with the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU), the governing body for rugby union throughout Wales. The WRU is responsible for the Welsh national rugby team.

The Wales side has recently enjoyed one of the most successful periods in its history, having won Grand Slams in the RBS Six Nations in 2005, 2008, and last year, and having reached the semi-finals of last year's IRB Rugby World Cup, leading to significant brand exposure.

The CPLG team has a history with rugby licensing, having worked with the RFU for many years, and will be looking to link up with new partners in specific target categories that include publishing, headwear and accessories, paper products, luggage, party products, and homewares.

  Joester Loria Group Named North American Licensing Agent for The Hive

Space Enterprises has appointed The Joester Loria Group as the exclusive licensing agent for The Hive in North America. The Joester Loria Group will develop a retail-driven licensing program designed to connect with the growing number of fans for the preschool television series airing on Disney Junior.

The Joester Loria Group will be launching an integrated licensing and merchandising program for The Hive that is centered on the cast of characters and their playful adventures, which are designed to entertain and encourage imaginative play with preschool children. Key merchandising categories planned include toys, games, publishing, apparel, and confectionary.

Originating in the UK, The Hive is a half-hour series consisting of 26 episodes airing in more than 150 countries. The Hive has been airing in the U.S. since October, thanks to a deal secured by the show's distributor, Bejuba!

  Sangeeta Desai Announced as FME COO/CFO

FremantleMedia has appointed Sangeeta Desai to the combined role of COO and CFO of FremantleMedia, effective immediately.

In her new role, Desai will be responsible for the management of FremantleMedia's operations in its corporate center including financial performance, legal and business affairs, IT, purchasing and procurement, and property. Desai will be based in London, reporting directly to Cecile Frot-Coutaz, CEO of FremantleMedia, and will sit on the company's board of directors.

  Lawless Signs with R. John Wright for The Little Prince Dolls

Lawless Entertainment has signed a deal with R. John Wright Dolls, Inc. (RJW Dolls), on behalf of The Little Prince. RJW Dolls will utilize art from The Little Prince to develop collector dolls that will be sold worldwide at fine upscale gift and collectible shops. The dolls will be available for purchase later this year.

  Zodiak Kids Appoints Additional UK licensees for Tickety Toc

Zodiak Kids has appointed additional UK & Eire partners for preschool show Tickety Toc. Blues Clothing is set to launch a range of outerwear in the fall; VMC Accessories will produce headwear, gloves, scarves, and sunglasses; Kidztation will produce wooden toys for the fall; and William Lamb is signed for footwear.

Two new licensees have also signed for homewares and gifting. Zak UK will produce melamine breakfast and dinner sets, lunch bags, and bottles; and Hallmark Cards will launch a range of greetings cards, party invitations, and gift wrap. Both partners are planning to launch next year.

  Brandgenuity Expands Licensing Program for Duck Dynasty

A&E's exclusive licensing agency, Brandgenuity, has secured eight new licensing partnerships in a variety of categories including apparel, accessories, and toys for the series Duck Dynasty. New licensees include Changes (apparel), Club Red (apparel), Greensource (apparel), Halpern (work gloves, flashlights, and novelties), MJC (sleepwear), Outdoor Cap (headwear), Paramount (apparel), and Treehouse Kids (toys and play sets). Duck Dynasty licensed products can now be found at outdoor retailers including Bass Pro, Cabela's and Academy, and mass retailers including Wal-mart. Brandgenuity will continue to expand the Duck Dynasty licensing program strategically, with new partners in apparel, accessories, outdoor and sporting goods, gaming, toys, and games.

  YooHoo & Friends Come to Happy Meals Across Europe

Aurora World has announced its collectible line of plush animals YooHoo & Friends will be featured in the McDonald's Happy Meal YooHoo & Friends promotion in the majority of Europe early this year. The promotion will run in more than 6,000 McDonald's restaurants in 40 countries and more than 30 languages between January and April.

During the promotion, Happy Meals will include 10 mini plush animals each with its own mini booklet containing interesting facts. Five of the animals featuring in the Happy Meal promotion are the main characters from the Aurora line.

  Knockout Licensing Signs Three Deals for Downton Abbey

Knockout Licensing has added Cryptozoic Entertainment to the Downton Abbey licensing program in North America and has extended deals with two existing licensees.

New licensee Cryptozoic Entertainment will produce and distribute a line of Downton Abbey collectible trading cards and trading card binders. Workman Publishing has been granted rights to offer 2014 engagement diaries and 2014 page-a-day calendars, and Rizzoli has signed on to do 2014 wall calendars.

Knockout Licensing is actively seeking additional licensing partners for product categories including home furnishings, home décor and bedding, jewelry, kitchen accessories, lighting, timepieces, tableware, and formal attire.

  DHX Media Launches Rastamouse App

DHX Media is bringing Rastamouse to new platforms with the launch of the Rastamouse Ride Da Riddim skateboarding app. The app is based on the television series produced by The Rastamouse Co., airing in the UK on CBeebies.

In recent deals, DHX Media has worked with Ty Beanies to create a Rastamouse beanie toy, which is now available in retailers Harrods, Cards Galore, and Trocadero. DHX Media has also just closed a deal with PMS International to create a range of plush, gift, and novelty products for theme parks, holiday parks, amusement arcades, service stations, funfairs, and family entertainment centers.

  Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products Appoints Bettina Koeckler to Lead European Operations

Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products has appointed Bettina Koeckler as senior vice president, EMEA. Koeckler, who is co-chair of LIMA's global marketing and membership committee, brings more than 18 years of both major multinational and owner-managed environments across B2B and consumer licensing and merchandising.

Koeckler will lead Fox's European operations after serving as senior vice president and general manager for global consumer products at Rainbow, European producer of 2-D, CGI-animated, and 3-D animation across all media platforms. There she oversaw properties such as Winx Club, PopPixie, Mia and Me, and Gladiators of Rome.

  Lisle International to Represent The Trash Pack in France

Moose Toys has extended the role of Lisle International as licensing agent of The Trash Pack. Lisle will now oversee new deals for the property in France in addition to the UK.

With GP France already established as the master toy partner for The Trash Pack brand, Lisle will further drive the awareness by implementing a full merchandising program. The first licensee to come on board is Splash Publishing, which will be distributing the Parragon Trash Pack activity books launching in the spring.

  Lionsgate, American Greetings Properties Extend Relationship for New Care Bears Series

Lionsgate and American Greetings Properties have signed a home entertainment distribution agreement for the new CGI-animated TV series Care Bears: Welcome to Care-a-Lot. The agreement gives Lionsgate packaged and digital rights to all 26 episodes of the series in both the U.S. and UK. In addition, the two companies are extending their existing contract, with Lionsgate retaining its rights to the two previous Care Bears television series and five Care Bears movies. Under the new agreement, Lionsgate will also distribute three additional American Greetings properties in the U.S. through packaged and digital media, including The WotWots, The Twisted Whiskers Show, and Maryoku Yummy. Finally, Lionsgate will acquire U.S. digital rights to three seasons of the classic Strawberry Shortcake series.

  Rocket Announces New Initiatives for the Cat in the Hat

Rocket Licensing, European Licensing agent for the Cat in the Hat brand, has announced new products and promotions for this year. Promotional activity includes the availability of 1.2 million Dr. Seuss books and a range of Dr. Seuss activity packs on Emirates Airlines flights until June. In addition, Waterstones is to create Seuss-themed décor for store re-fits this year.

Among existing retail successes are The Cat in the Hat children's T-shirts and baby grows from Fabric Flavours Product; the Five Mile Press range of floor puzzles, flip and flash pads, and lacing cards; the Hype range of greeting cards, gift-wrap, and minicards; kids' stationery from Roger Le Borde; and Paul Lamond Games' range of children's floor puzzles.

New products for this year include the launch of Watermelon's Dr. Seuss children's T-shirts and pajamas at Marks and Spencer for the fall, which will be followed by Manhattan Toys' range of Dr. Seuss baby accessories.

  BN Licensing to Represent DJ Tiësto in the Benelux

BN Licensing has been appointed the territory agent in the Benelux for the brands Tiësto, Club Life, and corresponding visuals. DJ and producer Tiësto has signed a licensing agreement with The Movement International to develop fashion and apparel products under the Club Life brand.

Licensing rights for merchandising, promotions, and publishing deals for his likeness, the brand Tiësto, and Club Life by Tiësto in the Benelux are now available.

  Silvergate Announces Deals for Peter Rabbit

Silvergate Media has secured several new pre-sale deals for Peter Rabbit, its new CGI-animated series, co-owned with Penguin UK. Deals have been secured with ABC TV Australia, France Television, RTE Ireland, SVT Sweden, NRK Norway, and Finnish broadcasting company YLE, following a deal with CBeebies in the UK.

The series, co-produced with Penguin UK and Nickelodeon U.S., will launch this year in the U.S., the UK, France, and Australia. A half-hour Christmas special, Peter Rabbit's Christmas Tale, premiered last December. The premieres on Nickelodeon in the U.S., CBeebies and BBC One in the UK, and ABC TV in Australia drew strong audience numbers in advance of the series launch this year.

  mi-CommsPR to Host Annual Christmas Open House

Following last year's first successful mi-Christmas Open House event, mi-commsPR will host a larger annual Christmas preview event in July. The Open House will feature the latest toys, games, gadgets, accessories, and brands that could top the Christmas market this year. Attendance has already been confirmed by brands including JCB Kids, University Games, Carte Blanche Greetings, and Sega Licensing.

During the two-day event, media will be invited to visit a Central London town house that has been transformed into a welcoming and warm Christmas-themed home. Filled with new products for this year, the mi-Christmas Open House allows journalists to view products on display in their natural home setting.

July 5 will be open to media professionals only, and July 6 will be open to journalists who would like to bring along children, presenting the opportunity for play and testing a selection of toys and products. For the kids there will also be entertainment, including a pick-and-mix bar, face painting, and balloon modeling.

  The Woodlies Movie Date Announced

The Woodlies Movie will be broadcast on Australia's Seven Network on February 23. The special feature-length episode will round-off the animated adventure series for children ages 6 to 12, The Woodlies, which ran on the Seven Network last year.

Already sold to ZDF and Universum for theatrical and home entertainment release in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, The Woodlies Movie was produced by The Woodlies Pty Ltd. with the assistance of Flying Bark Productions Pty Ltd. and in association with Telegael Teoranta.

  Iconic Duo Orville & Cuddles Announces Representation

360 Licensing has signed as a licensee for Orville & Cuddles, the puppet duo that first found fame on ventriliquist Keith Harris's cult '80s television show Cuddles and Company. 360 Licensing has also signed a master UK toy deal with PMS International, the UK's leading importer and distributor of consumer products. The contract, which was secured earlier this month, includes plush toys and key rings.
