The Smiley Co. Showcases Rubik’s Range at Nuremberg Toy Fair

The Second Annual Marvel Super Hero Spectacular Takes Over Retail

Disney Consumer Products is ready to kick-off the second annual celebration of the Marvel Super Hero September campaign on September 25. This five-week retail-event will offer a variety of product offerings and activities including the launch of Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron on DVD and Blu-ray, and Playmation Marvel’s Avengers.

With Walmart, Target, Toys “R” Us, Party City, and Disney stores onboard, fans can expect to see a new lineup of products across a range of categories, including Spider-Man Color Shock Slingers from Hasbro, new Lego Spider-Man construction sets, Marvel RC Hulk Smash from Jakks Pacific, a new Black Widow young adult novel authored by The New York Times best-selling author Margaret Stohl, a personalized Marvel’s Avengers: Black Ops Field Guide by Sourcebooks, and the first introduction of Marvel characters as part of the Disney Store’s Tsum Tsum line of collectible plush.

For mobile Marvel fans, brand new characters including Ultimate Spider-Man, Red Hulk, and Hulkbuster, along with 18 new levels of play will be available in the Mix+Smash: Marvel Super Hero Mashers app. Additionally, October 4 will see the national launch of Playmation Marvel’s Avengers, a system of connected toys and wearable products, from Hasbro.

For collectors, October will bring Funko’s Marvel Collector Corps villain-themed subscription box, and Diamond will debut a Marvel-animated Minimates two-pack series at Walgreens and a Dr. Strange Marvel select figure at specialty stores. Fans of all ages will be able to showcase their Marvel pride with new athletic footwear available at Payless and professional scooters from Madd Gear, and just in time for Halloween, new costumes from Rubie’s, Disney Store, and Party City will debut, allowing kids and adults to transform into their favorite Marvel superheroes.

At Disney Store locations, on every Sunday from September 27 to October 25, kids ages 3 and up are invited to take part in one of four Marvel events, including: Art of Drawing: Captain America Shield, Art of Drawing: Spider-Man, Spider-Man Story Time, and the New Avengers Training Academy.

 

Paper Punk Signs Deal with Nickelodeon for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and SpongeBob SquarePants Products

Jan27.PaperPunkPaper Punk has inked a deal with Nickelodeon to develop paper-based construction and craft kits inspired by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and SpongeBob SquarePants. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles kits will be introduced at the American International Toy Fair in New York City.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles kits will feature all four turtle characters and include a kit containing 16 punch-n-fold shapes, more than 30 stickers, and 40 adhesive dots to construct a 3-D paper figure. It will be available this month. The SpongeBob SquarePants kit will feature the two main characters from the show and include eight to 16 punch-n-fold shapes, more than 120 stickers, and 40 adhesive dots to construct a 3-D paper figure. It will be available mid-year.

Xcel Brands Inc. Announces Licensing Deal With The Madame Alexander Doll Company

Xcel Brands Inc. has signed an exclusive licensing agreement with The Alexander Doll Company to create a selection of Madame Alexander dolls, doll apparel, and doll accessories under the Isaac Mizrahi New York label. It will consist of both collectible and play dolls: Cissy, the iconic 21-inch couture collectible doll; a 16-inch contemporary fashion collectible doll; and an 18-inch play doll. The collection will debut at the International Toy Fair in New York City in February. The dolls will be sold through specialty and department stores, as well as select websites including www.madamealexander.com.

Joester Loria Group Renews Licenses for The World of Eric Carle with Kids Preferred and University Games, Signs Trends International

The World of Eric Carle has renewed its license with master toy partner Kids Preferred for an additional four years, in a deal brokered by The Joester Loria Group. Kids Preferred has been a partner for more than seven years, with programs consisting of plush, plastic, and wooden developmental toys in retail accounts including Babies “R” Us, Buy Buy Baby, Kohl’s, Sears, and Barnes & Noble. Kids Preferred develops a wide range of toys that encourage early developmental skills and playful learning for infants and toddlers. At the New York Toy Fair, Kids Preferred introduced more than 15 products, including developmental and wooden toys, soft teether books, tummy time play, and bath items. It is the first time that the Very Hungry Caterpillar is featured alongside other characters from Carle’s books, in a refreshed color palate designed to meet current market trends. Ludorum’s Licensees Ride the Rails at American International Toy Fair

Nickelodeon and Partners Unveil New Products at Toy Fair

Nickelodeon unveiled products for both new and established properties at Toy Fair, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Winx Club, Team Umizoomi, Dora the Explorer, SpongeBob SquarePants, and Victorious.

Playmates Toys showed a new line of toys inspired by Nickelodeon’s new CG-animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Playmates Toys’ lineup includes basic, deluxe, and collectible action figures, as well as Ninja gear, play sets, and vehicles.

Jakks Pacific and its Creative Designs International (CDI) and Disguise Halloween divisions debuted products for Winx, including a new line of dolls, play sets, accessories, dress-up, role-play items, and Halloween costumes based on the series. Building on the Winx Club doll line from Jakks, Creative Designs International has created an assortment of role-play dresses and fairy wings for girls who want to transform themselves into their favorite Winx Club member. The Jakks Pacific, CDI, and Disguise product lines are scheduled to launch this fall to coincide with the premiere of the brand new CG episodes of Winx Club on Nickelodeon.

Nickelodeon and Fisher-Price introduced new toy lines for preschool series Team Umizoomi and Dora the Explorer. Team Umizoomi products from Fisher-Price include figures, basic and learning plush, bath toys, and vehicles. Building on the past success of Fisher-Price toys inspired by Dora, new products for 2012 will include a dollhouse, play sets, dolls, role-play toys, and more.

SpongeBob SquarePants is the inspiration for new toys from Fisher-Price’s Imaginext brand. The new line includes play sets, vehicles, and figures where SpongeBob is featured in the Imaginext look. SpongeBob is also the inspiration for two new building sets from The Lego Group, which debuted at Toy Fair.

Victorious master toy licensee Spin Master, Ltd. unveiled new products for the live-action comedy series. The new line will feature fashion dolls and role play, including a new Tori Singing Doll featuring the song, “Best Friend’s Brother.” Feature dolls for additional Victorious characters, including Trina (Daniella Monet), Cat (Ariana Grande), and Jade (Elizabeth Gillies), are also included.

In addition, Hasbro is working with licensees around the globe to bring to market an amazing array of lifestyle products in key categories that will resonate with consumers worldwide. Products will range from T-shirts and caps to costumes, backpacks, and publishing from licensees including Disguise and Random House.

New Tetris-Themed Products Introduced at Toy Fair

The Tetris Company, LLC, the exclusive licensor of the Tetris brand, and its merchandising agent, Licensing Works!, announced several new Tetris-themed products from licensees Techno Source, Paladone, and Fundex, which showcased their new Tetris products at Toy Fair.

Techno Source introduced its new Tetris Illuminated Mega Screen game. The stand-alone handheld device is designed with a large, illuminated screen to play a choice of three Tetris games, including the marathon version. It is the first stand-alone handheld to include a hold button, which allows players to keep a Tetrimino (the Tetris playing pieces) shape to use later in the game. The Tetris Illuminated Mega Screen game is expected to ship this spring, with in-store availability at Target, Kmart, and Toys “R” Us retailers to come this fall.

Techno Source also showcased its Tetris Link 2-Player Edition, a family strategy game designed for play at home or on the go, as a follow up to the Tetris Link tabletop strategy game. Tetris Link 2-Player Edition is expected shipping this spring, with in-store availability to come this fall.

Paladone
debuted three new Tetris products at Toy Fair. The Tetris Desk Tidy is a new collection of office supplies, including a double highlighter pen, a pencil holder containing five pencils, a sharpener and eraser, a memo pad, a tape dispenser, a staple-free stapler, a desk organizer (with rubber bands and Tetrimino shaped paper clips), and Tetrimino-shaped stress blocks. Paladone also showed the Tetris Stackable Desk Light and the Tetris Alarm Clock, featuring numbers that change using falling Tetrimino shapes. All three new Tetris products will become available for purchase in September.

Fundex
offered demonstrations of its games: Tetris The Card Game, a multiplayer card game; Tetris Tumble, a multiplayer strategy dice game; and Tetris Matrix, a single player strategy puzzle game. All three Tetris products are available for purchase at Books-a-Million, Barnes & Noble, and Calendar Club.
