KB Toys to Reportedly Make a Comeback Following Toys “R” Us Shut Down

KBToysAccording to a New York Post report, the California company Strategic Marks, which bought the KB Toys brand in 2016, is currently in discussion with pop-up operators to re-open stores in malls before Black Friday. The news follows last week’s announcement that Toys “R” Us will shut down all U.S. stores.

The New York Post reports that Strategic Marks’ chief executive officer Ellia Kassoff is in talks with retailers, including Go! Retail Group, Spencer Spirit Holdings, and Party City to provide the real estate. Kassoff is also reportedly in discussions with toy manufacturers, including Mattel.

KB Toys stores originally closed its chain of stores in 2009.

eOne Names Alpha Group Master Toy Partner for Peppa Pig in China, Expands Hong Kong Office

PeppaPigEntertainment One (eOne) appointed Alpha Group as its master toy partner for Peppa Pig in China. New toys will launch this year and feature play sets, figurines, and role-play items.

eOne’s Peppa Pig licensing program in China currently has more than 45 partners and will continue to expand this year. Additionally, this September Merlin Entertainments will debut the first Peppa Pig attraction in Shanghai. A new deal was also signed with Happy Kids Cultural Development for a Peppa Pig stage show that will tour the country over the next three years. Pop-up and mall events are currently in discussion. Goliath Games Acquires Wahu, North American Distribution Rights for Quill On

Wahu_QuillOnGoliath Games recently acquired the North American distribution rights for Quill On, a creative play system based on paper-quilling technique. The new line of arts and crafts will launch this fall.

Goliath Games also acquired Wahu, an Australian outdoor brand that features beach toys for kids and families. The line will debut in North America in spring 2019 with products including inflatables, swim vests, sporting goods, and more.

Make It Real Launches Sunny Day DIY Activity Line

SunnyDayMake It Real will launch a new range of creativity kits this fall based on the animated Nickelodeon preschool series, Sunny Day. The new collection is inspired by the star of the TV series, Sunny, who is a salon-owning young entrepreneur.
