The New York-based agency will build a licensing program for the Oddbods brand in categories including publishing, toys and games, apparel and accessories, back-to-school, home, gifts, social expression, experiences, and more.

The non-dialogue, slap-stick comedy follows the madcap antics of seven adorable yet quirky friends, surviving the perils of everyday life with hilarious consequences. These vignettes are stories, told in 7-, 5-, and 1-minute episodes.

Kids Preferred Introduces Pete the Cat Preschool Collection

PeteTheCatKids Preferred will extend its collection of characters to include the Pete the Cat collection. The license was arranged by Clair Frederick of MerryMakers, Inc.

The new collection of preschool items is inspired by the book series that includes 50 titles. The books have been on the New York Times Best Seller list for more than 200 weeks, and have sold more than 15 million books to date.

The line will be available this spring and feature a backpack, a lunch box, kitchenware, placemats, blocks, books, and more.

These licensees have launched collections, including agendas, backpacks, notepads, pencil cases, and more.

Smiley Studio will kick-off the back to school period with a social media campaign, promoting all back to school partners over the next six weeks.

WBCP Signs Partners for School Supplies

supermanlunchboxWarner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) is partnering with Thermos and Vaultz to bring DC Comics-inspired school supplies to kids heading back to school.

Thermos will introduce Caped Insulated Dual-Compartment Lunch Kits available in Superman and Batman versions, and Insulted Dual-Compartment Lunch Kits in Batgirl and Wonder Woman versions. For Scooby-Doo fans, Thermos will also offer a Scooby-Doo Lunch Box with a padded carrying handle.

Vaultz will offer Locking Pencil Boxes and Locking Binder Pouches featuring the Batman emblem.

LIMA Highlights Top Kid Toy Brands in Survey for Back to School Season

A new study by the Licensing Industry Merchandiser’s Association (LIMA) has revealed Britain’s top licensed toy brands amongst British children and what is expected to be seen on back-to-school products such as backpacks, pencil cases, and lunch boxes. Guardians of the Galaxy Set to Launch into Retail Ahead of Theatrical Release

Licensees and retailers are preparing for high fan demand for merchandise inspired by Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy in anticipation of the upcoming movie. Retailers have developed a wide range of product lines with over 50 licensees that are attracting strong placement and pre-sales across mass, mid-tier, specialty, and online retail channels. Products are set to start launching in mid-June. In addition, Marvel Studio’s marketing for the merchandising program will hit full force beginning in late-June.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is an action-packed, space adventure where adventurer Peter Quill is the center of a bounty hunt after he stole a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions to threaten the universe. Quill forms a truce with Groot, Rocket Raccoon, Gamora, and Drax to evade Ronan and must participate in a final showdown to restore balance in the galaxy.

The upcoming movie is unique to any others in the Marvel franchise, which had made it appealing to manufacturers and consumers.  Rocket Raccoon will distinguish himself as a breakout character, which has made him popular for licensees to keep up with the anticipated demand for Rocket inspired products.  In addition, Star-Lord’s obsession with the 80’s has created a platform for a wide range of 80’s nostalgia apparel and accessories. Manufacturers are also focusing on Drax and Gamora, who have become popular with male and female demographics.
