Marvel Launches Daredevil, The Punisher, Jessica Jones, and Deadpool Merchandise for Adult Fans

Marvel began rolling out its merchandising and retail plans for popular anti-heroes and vigilantes Daredevil, The Punisher, Jessica Jones, and Deadpool.

Additional launches targeting teens and adults are planned for January, including apparel, collectibles, and action figures. Diamond Select, Funko, Sideshow, Kotobukiya, and NECA will launch collectibles, Hasbro will add Marvel Legends collector figures, and Hot Wheels will unveil collectible die-cast vehicles next fall.

Mad Engine, C-Life, Hybrid, Freeze, Fifth Sun, Silver Buffalo, and Bioworld will launch men’s and women’s apparel, accessories, footwear, bags, home goods, and drinkware. The merchandising programs will be rounded with collector plush, stationery, consumer electronics, novelties, and Marvel Comics editions that feature backstories of the superheroes.

Additionally, Hot Topic will launch an in-store and online Deadpool campaign in February. Walmart, JCPenney, Spencer’s, Party City, and Kohl’s will provide in-store and online support. Amazon will expand on its toy and apparel offerings and CafePress will launch Jessica Jones-inspired merchandise for men and women.

Spin Master Appointed to Distribute Teletubbies Toys

June4.TeletubbiesDHX Brands, the brand management and consumer products arm of DHX Media, has appointed Spin Master to distribute the upcoming range of Teletubbies toys in the U.S., Canada, France, Germany, and Benelux. The deal, which sees Spin Master distributing the plush, plastics, and bath toys from Teletubbies master toy licensee Character Options, was negotiated on behalf of DHX Brands by CPLG. The Teletubbies toy range is set to debut next year, following the launch of the show on UK commissioning channel CBeebies.

The new 60-episode series of Teletubbies has been commissioned by the UK’s CBeebies and is being produced for DHX Media by UK production company, Darrall Macqueen Ltd. It will feature the same characters but with a refreshed, contemporary look.

Warner Bros. Releases LEGO Jurassic World Trailer

June1.LegoJurassicWorldWarner Bros. Interactive Entertainment released the latest trailer for LEGO Jurassic World where players join a VIP tour of the state-of-the-art facility, and get a glimpse of LEGO dinosaurs such as Indominus Rex and Mosasaurus, as well as the Creation Lab.

LEGO Jurassic World will be released in North America on June 12, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, and Windows PC, or fans can pre-order the game on PlayStation Network or Xbox Live before June 12 to experience more within LEGO Jurassic World and to get free downloadable content.

The Boy Scouts of America Adds New Licensees

The Boy Scouts of America Licensing has signed three new licensees, including Kidz Toyz Inc., OS4 USA, and Provo Craft & Novelty Inc.

BSA has partnered with Kidz Toyz in one of its newest brands, Wilderness Explorers. The line will include products such as adventure gear, a butterfly habitat, a shelter, and more. OS4 USA will produce plush, play tents, and sleeping bags for BSA. Provo Craft & Novelty Inc. will do business as Cricut and provides electronic cutting machines for polished DIY projects.

Shuffle Line Expands with Three Disney-Themed Games

Nov17.ShuffleCartamundi adds three new Shuffle games to its current line, which combines playing cards and digital technology for an enhanced way to play card games on tablets and smartphones. The games will be Shuffle Disney Frozen, Shuffle Disney/Pixar Cars, and Shuffle Monopoly Deal Disney Edition, bringing the count of Shuffle games to 15.

Shuffle Frozen will be available for delivery to toy shops, gift shops, and supermarkets later this month. Retailers will be able to stock Shuffle Monopoly Deal Disney Edition and Shuffle Disney/Pixar Cars starting in January. Kids can race their cars throughout the city in Shuffle Disney/Pixar Cars, play a matching game in Shuffle Disney Frozen, and collect properties in the form of Disney characters in Shuffle Monopoly Deal Disney Edition.

eOne, Redan Publishing Partner for New Peppa Pig Magazine

Entertainment One Licensing’s (eOne) Peppa Pig will step onto the printed page with a new dedicated magazine from Redan Publishing Inc. The bi-monthly publication, Fun to Learn Peppa Pig Magazine, is launching this month at major retailers throughout the U.S., including Wal-Mart, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, and Kroger.

Fun to Learn Peppa Pig Magazine, for kids ages 2 to 7, will feature 36 pages of Peppa-themed activities designed to reinforce early learning skills as well as craft projects, puzzles, product giveaways, and more.

eOne Licensing has also added Better Toyz, Fiesta Toys, and Primary Colors Corp. as licensees for the brand, bringing the Peppa Pig brand into sporting goods, stationery, and confectionery categories for the first time. Better Toyz will bring a line of sporting goods, including ball pits and tents, play balls, skates, scooters, kiddie pools, and skateboards; Fiesta Toys will produce Peppa Pig plush and toys for amusement parks; and Primary Colors Corp. will create a new line of novelty stationery and confections such as list pads, notepads, markers, stickers, and more.

Hello Kitty Set to Take Over Los Angeles Restaurants for Hungry Hunt

Oct3.HelloKittySanrio has partnered with restaurants in Los Angeles to launch Hello Kitty’s Hungry Hunt as part of Hello Kitty’s 40th anniversary celebration.

Starting October 24 and running through November 21, participating venues will offer a Hello Kitty-inspired food or beverage item. Fans and foodies can follow the official Hello Kitty’s Hungry Hunt map to visit each location, which include Lollicup Coffee & Tea, Zip Sushi & Izakaya, Xlixe Pizzeria, and more.

Each Hungry Hunt menu item will also include a collectible Hello Kitty’s Hungry Hunt pin featuring Hello Kitty enjoying a different treat from each of the participating restaurants. The pins are available while supplies last.

Disney Signs Three Licensees for Disney-Pixar Cars Neon Line

ITV Studios Signs Additional Licensees for Matt Hatter

March10.MadHatterITV Studios Global Entertainment has signed two more licensees for Platinum Film’s boy property, Matt Hatter Chronicles. Hy-Pro International will create a line of bikes, inline scooters, skates, skateboards, and accompanying accessories. The initial line will appear at mass-market retail in the U.K. and Eire during Q4 of this year. GB Eye will produce Matt Hatter posters and novelty gifts for launch next spring in the U.K. and Ireland.

Matt Hatter Chronicles will enter its third season later this year and is expecting the television success to transfer to retail. The marketing strategy will include a high profile television advertising campaign, digital promotions, social media campaigns, and retail tie-ins.
