Toca Boca to Launche Kids Product Line at Target

TocaBoca-BTS-Target-PR-Release-HeroToca Boca debuted its first collection of consumer products for kids. Based on the digital toy series, the line includes apparel, accessories, sleepwear, backpacks, lunch bags, bedding, and activity books.

The line features licensees including FABNY, The Foundery, Franco Manufacturing, and Random House Children’s Books. Beginning July 17, the collection will be available in all Target stores and Target.com.

Ranger Rob Series Renewed for Second Season, New Toy Line Set for Release

RangerRobRanger Rob, an animated series from Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana, has been renewed for a second season. The season is set to include 14 new episodes.

The series was ranked No. 1 for boys ages 2-11 on Corus’ Treehouse network in Canada during the fall 2016 season. Its rankings are also high in other territories, such as TF1 in France, Super RTL in Germany, Disney Channel in Australia, Nickelodeon in Italy, Canal Panda Portugal, YLE/TV2 Finland, and HOP Israel.

Marvel Super Hero Spectacular Returns For the Third Time With New Merchandise and Retail Partners

Marvel Superhero SpectacularDisney Consumer Products and Interactive Media (DCPI) kicked off its third annual ‘Marvel Super Hero Spectacular’ campaign on August 15. The campaign will feature six weeks of product launches, retail promotions, and activities, including a merchandising program celebrating Captain America’s 75th anniversary and the launch of Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War on DVD and Blu-ray. Major retailers at the event will include Walmart, Target, Toys “R” Us, Amazon, Kohl’s, Party City, and Kmart. The event will roll out worldwide and also reach mid-tier retail and specialty stores.

DHX Media Launches Wildbrain

DHX Media launched Wild Brain Family International Ltd. (WildBrain), a wholly owned subsidiary of DHX.

WildBrain operates a multi-platform kids network connecting content owners with advertisers on platforms such as YouTube and Dailymotion. WildBrain offers videos for kids ages 2 to 10 and generates approximately 4 billion minutes of watch time monthly.

WildBrain’s content includes Mattel’s Bob the Builder, Fireman Sam, Little People and Polly Pocket; Iconix’s Strawberry Shortcake; Turner’s Lazy Town; 9Story’s Daniel Tiger, Wild Kratts, and Arthur; DHX’s Caillou, Rosie and Jim and Brum; and videos featuring Play-Doh, Minecraft, Hachette.

Sesame Street, Baghch-e-Simsim Debut First Afghan Muppet Zari

Sesame Workshop unveiled its first Afghan Muppet Zari, a 6-year-old inquisitive girl ready to make her debut in the fifth season of Baghch-e-Simsim, the co-production of Sesame Street in Afghanistan.

Zari will feature in new, locally produced segments that focus on curriculum topics such as girls’ empowerment, national identity, physical health, and social and emotional wellbeing. Season five of Baghch-e-Simsim (Sesame Garden) can be seen on Tolo TV on Thursday and Friday at 4:00 p.m., and Lemar TV on Thursday and Friday at 4:30 p.m.

Zari, which translates as “shimmering,” will feature in three formats: speaking directly to viewers, interacting with kids in person, and interviewing different Afghan professionals.

Segments from other Sesame co-productions, adapted and dubbed into Dari and Pashto, will continue to introduce children to Muppet friends from the series in Egypt, Bangladesh, Mexico, and Russia.

Playmates Toys will introduce a new collection of products inspired by Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon MoviesTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, set to release in theaters on June 3.

The collection includes action figures, vehicles, play sets, role-play gear, and additions to existing T-Machines, T-Sprints, and mini-figure collections.

The action figures line is highly detailed, fully poseable, and sculpted to match the appearance of the Turtles, allies, and villains in the film; and includes basic figures, 6-inch battle sounds figures, and 11-inch figures.

The vehicles line includes cycles that feature ninja-flip action, the Street Speeder with an exclusive Leonardo figure, the Ragin’ Racer with an exclusive Raphael figure, and the Turtle Tactical Truck full of fighting gear.

Play sets include the City Sewer Lair Playset and the Technodrome Playset, and Role Play Gear includes the The Conceal & Reveal Weapons, The Extreme Battle Shell, and Leonardo’s Electronic Battle Sword.

American Greetings expands to offer Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars themed cards for birthdays, thank you, congrats, weddings, baby, anniversaries, and thinking of you occasions. These cards will include characters like Mickey Mouse, Cinderella, Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Marvel’s Avengers, and Darth Vader.

American Greetings also launches a new line of Big Talkers birthday cards featuring Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars characters in a die-cut format with multiple authentic audio clips.

These cards will be available at participating drug chains, grocery stores, mass retailers, and American Greetings and Carlton Cards retail stores. Ecards can be shared online through www.americangreetings.com.

Toy State Partners for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Vehicles

Toy State has secured a licensing partnership with Nickelodeon to design, develop, and manufacture lines of toy vehicles featuring the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles entertainment brand. The three-year deal will allow Toy State to create Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-themed lights and sound, preschool, and radio-controlled vehicles. Product will be available in mid-2016 at major retailers.

Toy State recently added Barbie and NASCAR to its licensing portfolio, joining the company’s flagship Road Rippers and Nikko brands, as well as lines featuring leading licensed properties including Hot Wheels, Caterpillar, WWE, Thomas & Friends, and DC Super Friends in its brand lineup.
