Zag, Method Animation, and Planeta Junior (Planeta & DeAgostini Group) partnered for co-production on the development of five upcoming animated TV series under the Zag Heroez label.
The collaboration starts with two Zag Heroez animated series Power Players, which features a team of secret heroes formed by a boy and his toys, and Pixigirl, which tells the story of a super-heroine with the supernatural powers of Mother Nature who battles evil witches in New York. Breyer Animal Creations was named specialty toy licensee for the new DreamWorks Animation Television series DreamWorks Spirit Riding Free. Breyer debuted the new line at the North American International Toy Fair this week.
The Netflix original series DreamWorks Spirit Riding Free will launch exclusively on May 5. Inspired by the 2002 film Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, the reimagined story will enchant a new generation. Lucky, a gutsy twelve‐year‐old girl, befriends a wild mustang she names Spirit. Hasbro Inc. was named global master toy licensee by Sutikki, the new kids and family division of Bento Box Entertainment. The line of toys will based on the new preschool series, Moon and Me from Andrew Davenport’s Foundling Bird.
Inspired by tales of toys that come to life when nobody is looking, Moon and Me is the comical story of a special friendship between two characters from completely different worlds. Kidz Bop partnered with Live Nation Entertainment to announce the Best Time Ever tour, sponsored by Juicy Juice Splashers. The live tour will debut in April and will reach more than 50 cities in the U.S., including Los Angeles, Chicago, and Miami. The tour launched with an exclusive pre-sale on Feb. 22 for Kidz Bop social media fans.
Tickets for the tour will officially go on sale to the public on Feb. 24. Special VIP tickets, which include a Best Time Ever private party, exclusive merchandise, and a meet and greet with the Kidz Bop Kids will also be available. JAKKS Pacific Inc. partnered with Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP), on behalf of DC Entertainment, for a multi-year, global licensing deal to manufacture, market, and distribute large action pose dolls, dress-up, and Get Ready for Action items based on the DC Super Hero Girls universe.
DC Super Hero Girls follows female Super Heroes and Super-Villains of the DC universe during their high school years, before they discover their full super power potential. Each character has their own storyline that explores what teen life is like as a Super Hero, including discovering unique abilities, nurturing powers, and mastering the fundamentals of being a hero.
The DC Super Hero Girls line will be available at retailers this fall.
To celebrate Care Bears 35th anniversary this year, the brand partnered with Gemma International for a Care Bears greeting cards collection. Gemma International, in collaboration with brand licensing agency CPLG, launched the first greeting cards at Spring Fair last week.
One Animation appointed Brandgenuity as licensing agent in the U.S. and Canada for the animated series Oddbods. The New York-based agency will build a licensing program for the Oddbods brand in categories including publishing, toys and games, apparel and accessories, back-to-school, home, gifts, social expression, experiences, and more.
The non-dialogue, slap-stick comedy follows the madcap antics of seven adorable yet quirky friends, surviving the perils of everyday life with hilarious consequences. These vignettes are stories, told in 7-, 5-, and 1-minute episodes.
Star Wars Force Friday II, a global fan event celebrating the launch of new products inspired by Star Wars: The Last Jedi, will take place on Sept 1. Toys, collectibles, books, apparel, and more will go on sale beginning at 12:01 a.m. that morning, with stores around the world opening for a weekend-long celebration of all things Star Wars.
