LIMA UK Names Rising Star Nominees

The International Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association (LIMA) announced the nominees for the 2016 UK Rising Stars Award. Now in its third year, the award is designed to recognize excellence among junior licensing industry professionals in the UK.  Nominees were named during the Young Professionals Network summer event, hosted by Cartoon Network Enterprises EMEA.

The 2016 finalists are:

EA Sports, Panini America, and 500 Level Named Winners Of 2016 NFLPA Licensees Of The Year Awards

EA Sports, Panini America, and 500 Level were named winners of the second annual NFL Players Association (NFLPA) Licensee of the Year Awards. EA Sports won for Digital Licensee of the Year, Panini America for Hardlines Licensee of the Year, and 500 Level for Apparel Licensee of the year.

A panel comprising NFLPA executives judged entrants on five criteria: number of unique players featured within the licensees’ product lines; the marketing and promotional activations that featured players throughout the year; creativity and innovation in product development; the companies’ positive development of the players’ intellectual property; and, the range of distribution and growth in annual financial performance.

The NFLPA launched the awards last year to honor the NFLPA licensees that have demonstrated successful and creative use of group player rights within the past year.

2016 LIMA International Licensing Award Winners Announced; Star Wars Wins Big

Winners of the 2016 LIMA International Licensing Awards in 20 categories were announced yesterday at the 2016 Licensing Expo at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.

Disney Consumer Products Star Wars won four awards, while Hot Topic won the Retailer of the Year for Doctor Who. AMC and Parque de Atracciones de Madrid (Striker Entertainment) won the Location-based/Experiential Initiative Award for its The Walking Dead walk-through attraction.

Moose Toys received four award nominations for its Shopkins licensing program at the 2016 LIMA International Licensing Excellence Awards.

Sesame Street and Autism: See Amazing in All Children Enters Second Phase

Sesame Workshop launched the second phase of its Emmy-nominated autism initiative, Sesame Street and Autism: See Amazing in All Children. Sesame Workshop is introducing new content as part of a suite of free resources for families, teachers, providers, and caregivers to help support autism.

This includes a two-minute animation of We’re Amazing 1, 2, 3! featuring Julia, Elmo, and Abby; 12 new videos featuring Abby Cadabby and children with autism; 50,000 We’re Amazing 1, 2, 3! storybooks; and a Sesame Street and Autism app available for free for iOS and Android devices.

Exceptional Minds, integral to the Sesame Street’s Autism initiative, will be recognized with the Joan Ganz Cooney award at Sesame Workshop’s 14th annual gala on June 1.

Peppa Pig Gains Momentum in Mexico

Entertainment One (eOne) has announced the strong broadcast and retail success of Peppa Pig in Mexico, demonstrating a stronghold for the preschool property in the territory.

Launched on Mexico’s Channel 5 in November 2013, the show has become a favorite with preschool audiences, reaching a rating of 2.4 points. Peppa Pig consistently achieves strong audience figures and is now one of the top three rated shows in the country.

The Peppa Pig licensing program has also seen positive results since its launch last year. Managed by Televisa Consumer Products, the consumer products program now boasts 50 licensees across 16 categories and strong retail sales.

In October Peppa Pig won the Best Preschool Brand of 2015 Award in the prestigious ProMarca Awards.

Deadline for the LIMA Licensing Hall of Fame Award is this Friday

This is the last week to submit your recommendations for the Licensing Hall of Fame Award. Each year, the Licensing Industry Merchandiser’s Association (LIMA) honors industry leaders who have made an outstanding contribution to the licensing community. To be considered for induction into the 2016 Hall of Fame online, recommendations must be received by November 6.

Individuals who have been active in the licensing industry for more than 15 years, have contributed to the advancement of their segment and the larger industry in a unique and relevant way, have upheld the ethics and principles of the licensing industry, and have been LIMA’s member for more than three years are eligible for the award.

LIMA Seeks Nominations for the Licensing Hall of Fame Award

The international Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association (LIMA) is now accepting recommendations for the Licensing Hall of Fame. Each year LIMA honors creators, marketers, manufacturers, and anyone who makes outstanding contributions to the global licensing community.

Individuals with a minimum 15 years of experience in the licensing business, a detailed description of their body of work, unique contribution to the industry, development or advancement of a specific aspect of the business, ongoing relevance to the industry, business ethics and principles consistent with the licensing industry, and LIMA membership for at least three years are eligible for nomination.

To be considered for induction into the 2016 Hall of Fame, online recommendations must be made through LIMA’s website and received by November 6.
