For the first time in 25 years, the International Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association (LIMA) will name a trio of industry executives to the Licensing Hall of Fame in the same year. This year, the honorees include: Allan Feldman, CEO and Founder of LMCA; Dell Furano, CEO and Founder of Epic Rights; and Cyril Speijer, former CEO of Wavery Productions B.V. and current co-principal of BN Licensing B.V. This year’s Hall of Fame Induction takes place Tuesday, May 23, at the LIMA Licensing Awards Ceremony during Licensing Expo 2017 in Las Vegas.
Candidates for the Licensing Hall of Fame must demonstrate continual and outstanding contributions to the licensing industry. Consideration is given to those who have been actively involved in the business of licensing for a minimum of 15 years and whose contributions have ongoing relevance to the industry. Women in Toys, Licensing & Entertainment will honor actor and advocate Geena Davis with the Changemaker Award and Jill Barad with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2017 WIT Wonder Woman Awards Gala in February.
This year’s theme, WIT Changemakers: Playing it Forward, recognizes and honors female executives who create positive change and pave the way for future leaders. Geena Davis is the co-founder and chair of the Bentonville Film Festival, as well as the founder of the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media. Jill Barad is the former Chariman and CEO of Mattel.
Maurizio Distefano was named best new agent by Rovio Entertainment Ltd, which Maurizio Distefano Licensing represents in Italy. The award was for the work done by MD Licensing over the last year, including, 30 new license agreements for Angry Bird in a single year, in-store events and promotions to boost awareness of Angry Birds products, and more.

The LIMA Board of Directors will review Hall of Fame recommendations submitted by members. The criteria outlined here ensures that the award continues to represent licensing excellence. To be considered for induction into the 2017 Hall of Fame, an online recommendation must include a detailed and formal description of the candidate’s contribution and his or her adherence to the criteria. Recommendations must be received by Nov. 4, 2016. The LIMA Board of Directors reviews all recommendations before making the final selection.
Women in Toys, Licensing & Entertainment (WIT) announced that nominations are now open for the thirteenth Annual Wonder Women Awards. WIT also announced new nominations guidelines, criteria, voting process, timelines, and elimination of the entry fee to nominate.

The International Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association (LIMA) announced the nominees for the 2016 UK Rising Stars Award. Now in its third year, the award is designed to recognize excellence among junior licensing industry professionals in the UK. Nominees were named during the Young Professionals Network summer event, hosted by Cartoon Network Enterprises EMEA.
The 2016 finalists are:

· Eloise Jones, buyer – Girls Wear and Baby Wear, George @ ASDA
· Julia O’Brien, licensing executive, Turner Broadcasting Systems
· Sarah Patel, retail marketing executive, Nickelodeon

· Talia Tester, licensing manager, Carte Blanche Greetings
The winner will be announced during the 2016 Licensing Awards, taking place in London on September 13. All six nominees will receive a free ticket to the event.
EA Sports, Panini America, and 500 Level were named winners of the second annual NFL Players Association (NFLPA) Licensee of the Year Awards. EA Sports won for Digital Licensee of the Year, Panini America for Hardlines Licensee of the Year, and 500 Level for Apparel Licensee of the year.
A panel comprising NFLPA executives judged entrants on five criteria: number of unique players featured within the licensees’ product lines; the marketing and promotional activations that featured players throughout the year; creativity and innovation in product development; the companies’ positive development of the players’ intellectual property; and, the range of distribution and growth in annual financial performance.
The NFLPA launched the awards last year to honor the NFLPA licensees that have demonstrated successful and creative use of group player rights within the past year.
