Caroline Mickler Appointed to Represent Fifty Shades of Grey

Caroline Mickler Limited has been appointed master licensing agent for Fifty Shades of Grey, the best-selling adult romance fiction trilogy. As master licensing agent, Caroline Mickler’s responsibilities include building the program in the UK and working with the brand owner to appoint agents for territories worldwide. Mickler has appointed CopCorp Licensing as the North American agent for the property.

The trilogy of books by British author E.L. James—Fifty Shades of Grey, Fifty Shades Darker, and Fifty Shades Freed—tell the story of the relationship between graduate Anastasia Steele and young billionaire Christian Grey, which grows in sexual intensity and danger as Christian introduces his new partner to the world of submission and dominance that he inhabits. The three parts of the trilogy began life as virtual publishing hits, eventually making their way to mainstream publication and the top of the best-seller lists. In the UK, book sales have passed the million mark. In the U.S., the books have sold 13 million copies. The film rights to the trilogy have already been sold, and a boxed set of the books is imminent.

Among the categories being discussed by Caroline Mickler Ltd., for licensing are lingerie and sleepwear, apparel, fragrances, beauty products, bedding, home furnishings, stationery, jewelry, and adult products. The main demographic for the brand is likely to be adult women, although male and female gift buyers are also seen as a strong market. Caroline Mickler will be meeting potential licensees and discussing these and other licensing opportunities for the brand at Licensing Show, at booth No. 5317, and at Brand Licensing Europe.
