Octonauts is launching a 60-city tour, The Octonauts and the Deep Sea Volcano Adventure, in San Diego starting September 22 in the U.S. Silvergate Media will produce the show in association with Red Light Management and Fiery Light.
The tour is based on preschool series The Octonauts and will feature songs by the Octonauts’ eight-member crew, including Captain Barnacles, Lieutenant Kwazii, and Medic Peso. New episodes of the series will premiere on Disney Channel and Disney Junior this year.
Citi Cardmember tickets, Facebook presale tickets, and VIP tickets will be available starting April 27. General and Citi Cardmember Preferred tickets will be available starting April 30.

NBCUniversal has acquired DreamWorks Animation. The studio will become part of the Universal Filmed Entertainment Group, which includes Universal Pictures, Fandango, and NBCUniversal Brand Development.
Under the terms of the agreement, DreamWorks Animation has an equity value of approximately $3.8 billion. DreamWorks Animation stockholders will receive $41 in cash for each share of DreamWorks Animation common stock.
The agreement was approved by the boards of directors of DreamWorks Animation and Comcast, and the controlling shareholder of DreamWorks Animation approved the agreement by written consent. The transaction is expected to close by the end of this year.
Subsequently, DreamWorks Animation CEO and co-founder Jeffrey Katzenberg will become chairman of DreamWorks New Media, which will comprise the company’s ownership interests in Awesomeness TV and NOVA. Katzenberg will also serve as a consultant to NBCUniversal.
MainGate entered an exclusive partnership with Professional Bull Riders (PBR), to manage events, eCommerce, and wholesale retail business.
Under the agreement, MainGate will develop and sell officially licensed PBR merchandise at nearly 50 events on the Built Ford Tough Series and the BlueDEF Tour.
MainGate will also design and maintain PBR’s eCommerce store, PBRShop.com, and facilitate wholesale opportunities for PBR merchandise, including expanded apparel offerings with major retail stores across U.S.
MainGate event sales will debut on August 19 in Nashville at Music City Knockout and a new PBR online store will launch in early fall.
With Rovio Animation‘s The Angry Birds Movie set to launch in May, Sony Pictures teamed with more than 100 partners worldwide, delivering $250 million in promotional media.
McDonald’s will launch a Happy Meal program in 120 markets worldwide promoting the film. Ziploc will create limited edition sandwich and snack bags and give customers $5 off movie tickets on purchasing two specially marked packages of Ziploc products. Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt will feature five collectible spoons for Red, Bomb, Chuck, Matilda, and two new cups.
Imagine Advertising will create The Best of the Nest event, where customers will go to their local furniture stores to take advantage of special offers. The Happy Egg Co. will highlight how all birds are not as happy as their hens through social media activation.

Sanrio and Trumpette launched a Hello Kitty collection of tights and socks for infants.
Details include Hello Kitty’s iconic face and red bow, strawberries and polka dots, a “ballet flat” style of socks, and rattles. The collection also includes an all over bow print and Hello Kitty’s face on solid color tights.

Genius Brands International Inc. (GBI) appointed Rebecca Hershinger as Chief Financial Officer.
In her new role, Hershinger will be responsible for GBI’s finance, accounting, and financial reporting functions. She will also handle investor relations and corporate development initiatives in a big way.
Hershinger began working with GBI in 2014 through CFO Advisory Services Inc., a corporation she founded that provided accounting and business advisory services to private and public companies.
Hershinger also held finance and corporate development positions at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. She also served as an investment-banking analyst for JP Morgan Chase & Co.
