Ape Entertainment in partnership with Sesame Workshop will release of three new comic books Another Sunny Day, Blast from the Past, and Many Friendly Neighbors, featuring the cast of Sesame Street. Each issue is a short story that emphasizes educational and entertaining content for preschoolers.
The books and their eBook versions will launch this fall. H is for Hero, first released in 2013 will also be available online. Each issue includes a set of instructions on how to best read the comics with kids.
Blazing Team, a 26-part Chinese TV series for kids ages 5 to 10 will debut on November 13 in the U.S. with a two-part premiere at 6.30am and 7am (5.30am and 6am central) on Discovery Family Channel. Subsequent episodes will air on Fridays at 7am (6am central).
Blazing Team is the story of three teenagers who fight the mysterious darkness surrounding their city empowered by their master’s wisdom and ancient martial arts called Yo Kwon Do. The series is produced by Guangdong Alpha Animation and Culture Co. Ltd. in association with Hasbro Studios.
The Walt Disney Co. and Leomil Group have expanded their cooperation into Latin America. Leomil Group has been a long time partner with Disney in major territories worldwide, such as EMEA, Russia, and Asia, and has already started its sales in Colombia and Suriname for Frozen, Minnie, and the upcoming film The Good Dinosaur. The cooperation on the Marvel franchise Spider-Man is heading into Colombia, Chile, Central America, the Caribbean, and Suriname.
PopCap Games in partnership with ConAgra Foods has released a promotion with Act II, Del Monte brands in Mexico, and with Plants vs. Zombies.
The partnership, which runs through October and November, features popular characters from the hit game Plants vs. Zombies on Act II Microwave Popcorn and Del Monte Ketchup. ConAgra has also released exclusive plant and zombie-flavored popcorn.
The Plants vs. Zombies brand continues to see growth and renewed excitement in Latin America, with new licensees such as Editorial Nueva Idea, Grupo Waisgold, Prexio, MIC, and Impulsora Arra.
King Features Syndicate has partnered with Zynga, Scientific Gaming, and Dragonplay to bring its classic brands to digital platforms through social games, social media integrations, and other mobile apps.
Next year, Zoobe Messaging will debut animated 3-D Popeye avatars for mobile apps and messaging services. Fashion UK recently launched a Betty Boop-inspired dress-up game in the UK and the U.S., and Boluga will launch the Flash Gordon mobile game this fall in numerous markets and languages around the world. This summer, European Games Group launched Flash Gordon virtual goods, costumes, and accessories as in-game purchases in the Hero Zero MMO game, with offerings featuring The Phantom coming soon. In late 2015, Walkinglife Media will debut Popeye computer and mobile games in China.
In Japan, Dena has debuted virtual Betty Boop goods to be sold within its “mobage” social networking service. Web Marketing Japan will launch Popeye and Betty Boop smartphone decorations and smartphone application software for Facebook graphics, and Sammy Networks will launch Popeye and Olive Oyl mobile pachinko games. M-Up will utilize Betty Boop and Popeye for its delivery services for NTT DoCoMo customers, including vocal in-character inquiry responses, screen decorations, flash animation, and smartphone screen icons.
King Features has also partnered with Kuboo, a social networking site that brings safe and wholesome entertainment to kids, to create premium content for the site featuring Popeye and a new virtual world called Goon Island. Now in development, Goon Island will feature Popeye-themed games and virtual items such as clothing, furnishings, and decorations.
Random House Kids has acquired Stampy’s Lovely Book by Joseph Garrett, better known as Stampy Cat to his YouTube fans worldwide. The deal was negotiated by Nagler with Egmont Publishing in the UK and Maker Studios. Egmont will release the book on October 22.
Random House Books will publish the book in the U.S on January 5 for its young readers. The book captures the essence of Stampy Cat’s fun personality and adventures, includes games, activities, jokes, and exclusive information about Stampy and his friends.
Care Bears Belly Match, a free-to-play match-three game from American Greetings Entertainment and Ubisoft is now available for iOS and Android devices. The game takes players to the magical world of Care-a-Lot where the Care Bears need players to make their world a happy place again. Players will have to switch, swap, and match belly-badges through hundreds of levels to win.
Care Bears Belly Match offers exciting game modes such as encounters with beasts and time challenges, and fun modes like unwrapping delicious lollipops. Care Bear companions help players through the hardest levels. Kids can also express their love through the game by sending Care Packages and lives to their friends.
Tickets for the first official Star Trek: The Cruise produced by Entertainment Cruise Productions LLC (ECP) sold out in less than two months, but fans will have one last chance to come aboard by entering an online contest at www.startrekthecruise.com. The winner will be announced next October. The cruise, under license by CBS Consumer Products, will set sail in January 2017.
The cruise will travel from Miami through Cozumel (Mexico) and Nassau (Bahamas) to Great Stirrup Cay (Bahamas) as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of Star Trek. Cast members from the film and the TV franchise, including Star Trek: Deep Space Nine star Terry Farrell will be present on board.
Star Trek superstar William Shatner will man the ship as its official host. Quintessential locations and events from the TV shows and films will be recreated during the cruise, and fan favorite characters, including Marina Sirtis, Jonathan Frakes, Robert Picardo, John de Lancie, James Darren, Denise Crosby, Steven Rankin, Vaughn Armstrong, and Casey Biggs will all be part of the experience.

Painting Lulu has signed a multiyear licensing agreement with Rovio allowing Angry Birds fans to color characters from their favorite films with new coloring sets by Painting Lulu.
Painting Lulu Paper-to-digital Coloring Pack includes a paper coloring book, a stylus crayon, and a free coloring app. Kids draw on paper with regular crayons, scan the pages using the app, and continue to decorate, correct, and share their drawings digitally.
The Painting Lulu App is a container app that includes several coloring books including Lulu & Friends and nine more branded versions available for purchase via the app. Future brands will be integrated into the program to continuously extend the offering and bring in more educational and creative play patterns.
The licensed product is accepting orders for the holiday season.
